All I want in a reactor is intelligence, good comprehension skills, humour and respect for the artist. You absolutely did not disappoint. For Taylor, this is about her losing out on the chance to buy her masters but it 100% works as a song about a victim of domestic violence who is lashing out at her abuser from the grave. I loved the theory that you came up with. Fantastic reaction.
When reading the start of this I said" wow she knows me" lmao but thank you! I have a playlist and more on the Patreon and on TikTok! I love her writing it's so layered especially in folklore/evermore
sameee, he is on point!
I had to go no contact with my abusive parents, so "I can go anywhere just not home" wrecks me
@@lorihenrytaylor4438I can go anywhere just not home … that’s a lyric man. That’s so deep.
Never Again - Kelly Clarkson is actually exactly this.
Never really listened to Taylor. This was a great song to be introduced to her lyrics , and what a lyricist! Thanks for the real introduction. I really liked the song and her voice is great. Great reaction. Thank you
She’s a poet who happens to sing, tbh. One of the best doing it…and not just now, but ever.
Her folklore and evermore albums are really something special. Very different from everything else she’s done.
@@cagautgacogacoor914 She has many songs just like those albums on all her earlier albums. Her pop songs even though great are never her best tracks, her fans know that she saves her best music for her albums.
These songs are beautiful and are from her earlier albums

This is such a beautiful comment! ❤️ you really should try listening to the whole Folklore album. For me it’s her best album (the lyrics are magnificent)
Folklore / evermore are great albums to dip your toe into Taylor Swifts music
The jewelry is the platinum, gold, and diamond albums she made
🥺🥺
The symmetry of 'My tears' & "Teardrops on My Guitar" ...
The angst (my tears) from having the masters of her songs including "Teardrops on My Guitar" sold out from under her ricocheting to eventually become the angst of having said masters devalued by her putting in the effort to re-record every jewel in her catalog.
The "death" in the song is a metaphor for what her old label did to her. The head of the label, Scott Borchetta, wouldn't sell her the masters to her albums (she had the money). He said she could "work off" the payment, meaning for every NEW album she made for his label, he would allow her to buy one album master. He was holding her music hostage. So she walked away and signed with a new label. And Scott Borchetta sold all of her masters to Scooter Braun, who had spent months bullying her online, which Borchetta knew. So Taylor is re-recording all of her old albums so that she owns the masters. So never stream an old song unless it says "Taylor's Version" on it. In this song, she says "And when you can't sleep at night, you hear my stolen lullabies." That is directly to Borchetta. If you re-listen to the song now, it allll makes sense. Thanks for loving the genius that is Taylor Swift ❤
Spot on
The Swifties are going to tell you the likely meaning of this song from Taylor’s perspective but I love the interpretation that it’s from a victim to her murderer. Really cool and spooky. I also like to think of it as from a wife to her ex-husband as they are going through a messy divorce. He tries to “bury” her metaphorically while still wearing the ring. He made her miserable and now he’s drunk on the pain and lashing out. It’s excellent storytelling and songwriting at the highest level!
It is absolutely so amazingly clever to have a song that can 100% be about so many different things. It's brilliant that it's about the whole masters situation and yet still tracks as a song about a ghost or an ex partner like you said. No interpretation is incorrect because they all fit.
taylor says you can interpret her songs however you feel they are as
And I strongly identified with it as someone who went through a messy and unwanted divorce. 😂😂😂 I didn’t have it in myself to go with grace, I can go anywhere I want, just not home, I still talk to him when I’m screaming at the sky, and when he can’t sleep at night, he hears my stolen music, he aimed for my heart, went for blood, crossing out our good years, cursing my name - but to this day, he still misses me. 😂 She’s so good, that people can draw so many different meanings from one song.
@@khillsthis is definitely how my heart interprets this song.
This song is about Scott Borchetti (CEO of Big Machine label which was her previous label.). Taylor and him were very close until he sold the company along with all her old record rights to Scooter Braun (who is a terrible person and manages Kanye who she’s had lots of issues with) despite knowing she wanted to own her music. So this song is about Scott and the breakdown of their relationship.
i think this song is about scott borchetta (her old record label) the part that gives it away is the “when you can’t sleep at night you hear my stolen lullabies” cuz he betrayed her and sold her first six albums to scooter braun so we call her first six albums the stolen versions (idk if this makes sense)
and she is now re-recording her first six albums so she can own them (she’s already done red and fearless she has four more albums that she doesn’t own yet)
Hey that's my name
Yea but for us that know nothing about her, that Lullaby line could mean...he still hears the lullabies she used to sing to him when they were together. So she's a talented lyricist for sure 💯
Loved your interpretation! Taylor says this song also makes her think of a divorce or the breakdown of a friendship, where the person who knew you best knows all the best ways to hurt you.
Thank you! And absolutely!
people should stop for a second a listen to Taylor Swift, she's at another level. Thanks for this
What a song. A mood. Her songwriting/storytelling mastery really shines on this folklore album. Please do more of this.
I find it amazing that you totally got how 'my tears ricochet' means she's crying, but he's crying too - on the first listen. I love this song and listened to it so many times without understanding this fundamental thing. It wasn't until I watched the Long Pond studio sessions on Disney+ that I got it because she adds one last line to the end of the song, which is not on the record - "Look at how my tears... are turning into your tears, look at how my tears ricochet." Suddenly the whole song makes sense to me. But you got it straight out of the box, bravo!
Taylor writes with a lot of metaphors. She's not actually saying she's dead, their relationship is dead. Other commentators have already explained this below about Scott Borchetta, her manager from the beginning of her career when she was 15. His betrayal killed her soul. Loved your reaction, and I am looking forward to your reactions to all the songs on Folklore and Evermore!
That’s deep huh. I knew what it meant but for some reason the way you explained it was like eye opening. Different somehow. Great video reaction
Glad you enjoyed it!
Her words to describe what that man did to her specially with “and when you can’t sleep at night (you hear my stolen lullabies)” and then “the battleships will sink beneath the waves” like if I’m going down, you’re going down too
Also in this song we have the phrase ‘you had to kill me, but it killed you just the same’ diving into how vicious he was that he didn’t mind being hurt as long as she was hurt too. So evil
Imo, your interpretation is spot on. I don’t think that in the song he physically killed her, but just caused her so much pain that she either died of heartbreak or ended her own life. I think it’s one of her rawest, most incensed songs. And one of my all time favourites.
Love and hate it at the same time lol
The irony of you singing the lyrics to Style at the beginning after bingeing all of your Harry Styles videos, I love it!
😂😂😂 when I found out that they dated and "Style" was about him.. My brain broke 😂😂
Yes, you got it right. And even tho I'm a swiftie, I've never got the meaning behind "my tears ricochet" but you interpreted this very well.
As someone pointed out in the comments, it's about Scott Borchetta from her old record label whom she has known since she was 16. He sold the masters of her first 6 albums to Taylor's enemy Scooter Braun without telling her in the first place. Taylor discovered about this only from the news. She actually knew that Scott gonna sell her masters but she never imagined it would be this person. So she felt really bad because Taylor trusted Scott and he was to her like dad. So, "stolen lullabies" in the song means her stolen albums which she re-recording right now to again own her work because as we know Taylor writes her songs herself, with 2-3 co-writers sometimes, she puts a lot of effort into her work like any other artist, that's why she is so concern about it.
As for now, she released the re-recordings of Red (2012) and Fearless (2008). In all re-recorded songs and albums she puts "Taylor's version" as she owns it.
So, I really liked your reaction. You're one of the people who didn't say that this song is about "break up" specifically and I appreciate you for that. But, of course, the song can be interpreted to many things. But a lot of people have this "created narrative" that Taylor writes only about her exes and breakups, but in reality it's not true. She has a lot of songs that have other deep meanings and messages.
I'd love it if you'll react to her entire album folklore which is an album my tears ricochet is from.
How's it
This song is one of hee completely self written ones without any co-writers…she is a literal genius
I continue to be impressed by your insightful dissection of her lyrics. You get it, on the first listen. I’m really enjoying these reactions. Thanks!
Thank you! Much more Taylor on Patreon and shorter versions on TikTok as well!!
The Long Pond Studios version of this is my favorite. Great song. And I loved your literal interpretation. She does this thing in songs like Getaway Car and Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince where it has a literal story, a personal story, and a metaphorical meaning all layered over each other, and I see a lot of Swifties just picking up the metaphor or the personal story while skipping over the literal narrative… But the magic to me is how she can make each piece complete enough that you don’t NEED the other layers to find something complex and meaningful. So I really liked hearing a solid analysis of the literal narrative piece. That was great.
To have grown up on Taylor as a teen and to hear her do this! It definitely took some more experiences to get to this level of lyricism. I’m hear for it! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽✨
Long pond studio version of this is the best!!! MUST listen!
Exile is a great duet from Taylor and Bon Iver that has a great story, I think you would like it
omg its the way i've never thought that deeply about the song. I LOVE how you broke it down, thank you. I feel so much smarter.
thanks! and you're welcome ! this song is so damn good
This song is about her record label and the sell of her music behind her back. Scooter Braun sold her music for over 400 million. As she re records her albums its listed as Taylors version. Vigilante shit is also about him and his wife divorcing him. She clapped back in a huge way! 👏👏👏
i love that song lol
i love this interpretation. i think that a lot of the time, swifties can get caught up in what a song is *supposed* to be about (like how it relates to specific events in taylor’s life), which is definitely fun and interesting bc i think that an artists intentions and experiences are important. but i also think sometimes people forget to just apply their own interpretations. that’s the entire point of poetry.
Omg ❤ this song is incredible. Scott Borchetta was like a father to Taylor then sold her art behind her back.
You get it. Welcome to Swiftland. She has created such a rich environment we all can enter and experience what she has created. And often, she reflects experiences we all have had. Love you Taylor. Excellent reaction Toney.
Let's goooo
i think you would like “seven” from her folklore album
In my top 3 favorite Taylor songs. She’s an amazing writer
Your analysis is excellent. You gave great insight and respect for a very heartfelt song. Thank you❤
Damn, there's a fine line between tears and bullets‼️🙌💯🔥 Love this song! Dope reaction as always🫡🙏
My husband has a very toxic, narcissistic mother. The first time i heard this song i broke down, because every word could be something that he would say to her. I can't listen to this song without thinking about the pain, fear, and mental gymnastics he had to endure his entire life being her son. It's... just a knife to the chest.
You missed the last line, very haunting " look how all of my tears, turning into your tears" perfect ending to the tract
I thought I mentioned that's the "ricochet" ! 😬 lol
I love your reactions…just about the only guy who seems to instantly sees it. Thanks. I am ancient and discovered Taylor a couple of years ago.
Just clicked that the battleship is “Big Machine”
Long pond version is my favorite
I truly enjoyed this reaction. Your interpretations are such a fresh take.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This about her old record label owner Scott Borchetta (who was like a second father to her) selling her masters to the guy (Scooter Braun) who was bullying her for years. Scooter Braun is the manager for Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, and Ariana Grande. Taylor said whenever the name scooter Braun escaped her lips she was crying and Scott witnessed all those moments. So for Scott to sell Taylor’s life work to her nemesis was a low blow.
7 months later and they all dropped him as their manager 😂
Beautiful song, I agree with you I had in my mind that it was high school songs
Man. It’s fun going back and seeing the early vids of you listening to taylor. Love it man.
But HEY!! That “Style” slander at the beginning!! 😡 😂😂
Lmao that's actually my first memory of Taylor! I love that song
This is about her old record label selling her records catalog.
Is your Lavender haze reaction on UA-cam? I can't find it 😢
Can you make a Taylor Playlist? Assuming you plan to do more Taylor. Which I hope so!
💯 for sure! And on TikTok it's short versions of the reactions!
@@ToneyReactionsyea, please make a Taylor swift playlist! Can’t find your other reactions
Nice rx!!!! MTR is a great song. I would say her best song on her latest album is called Wouldve Could’ve Shouldve. She’s 32 now. But at age 19 she was involved in a cringe relationship with a 32 yr old man. At age 19 she wrote a song Dear John asking “don’t you think I was too young”, but at age 32 she reflects back and says “no, I WAS too young”. Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve is everyone’s near fave on her latest album.
Then I’d suggest Midnight Rain followed by the Great War.
It is sad that she knew Scott since she was so young but they they allowed Scooter to mistreat her during this time, then when she had to go to another Co. they backstabbed her. She trusted Scott. They didn't have to make a deal with her masters until they talked to her. It was so heartless. Literally a death of a childhood relationship. The jewels/stolen lullabies are her songs. Home was Big Machine. Unresolved feelings, can't say to him how could you.
“and when you sleep at night, you hear my stolen lullabies” (her stolen music).
Also, keep in mind that Taylor writes metaphorically so although she uses things like “bury me” or “why are you at the wake”, it’s not literal.
Oh ik lol the metaphor is what makes the song so great
This is a lamentation, she is incredible
"I gave you something precious"--so good! Indeed--so precious that she spent all those years growing up with him and then he treats her like a commodity. The Truth of him is exposed in this death, and he will always regret what a weak and pathetic human he was to use someone so mercilessly.
You need to watch her fo this song live. I am telling you something!
This is my second favorite TS song. My fav is Tolerate It. I heard this song was written about how Scooter Braun buying her music. Not sure though.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Folklore is a masterpiece

Thanks for subbing!
You should listen to haunted I absolutely love that song but it’s so under-appreciated
YOU HAVE TO REACT TO HER SONG CLEAN, CARDIGAN, CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS!!!
The The song is about Scott Borrchetta selling her music to Sony after promising her that he would sell the catalog to her. He was the one who brought her into the industry. He also made a lot of money off of her and he betrayed her several other ways. Basically song is about the death of her Innocence in the industry And the fact that he did it and he's burying her while wearing jewelry she gave basically. T his Lin is show you how unrepentive he is , he is throwing her away while he is wearing things her money and the sale of her music got him. You can also hear this I still talk to you when I scream to this sky and when you can't sleep you listen to my stolen lullabies. The lullabies are her song Lyrics Is and how he stole her music out from under her and sold them To another company after promising her. This is why she is now recording her catalog over again with changes which make the copyright hers alone.
Princess Diana ❤
It’s a song to the head of her label Scott, he sold her albums and didn’t give her the chance to buy her own music
Reputation is her best alblum . Wildest Dreams is a amazing video. I like her new alblum the Tortured poets society is I think her 2nd. Please react to the wildest dreams official music video and also I knew he was trouble it's a good. Video too. Thank you for all that you do I subscribed to your channel. Hope all is well my friend and keep up the great work ! Much love and respect❤🙂. TS is a inspiration to women and shes always been herself since day one. Michelle respect to T she does it all. ❤ BTW love your TNMNT shirt. Michaelangelo was my favorite turtle then Leo. I still love the live action movies that were from the 80s or 90s part 1 and part 2 those were the best. Resides Raph who was your other favorite?❤🙂
You turned it off before her last 2 lines. Where she turns it around.
I've heard them now lol smh I messed up when I recorded lol
This is about her record label selling her music sad betrayal.
Do tolerate it. It’s about her dad
I've done it! It's on my patreon...I think I even mentioned it possibly being about a father daughter relationship..
Scooter Braun
The old Taylor is dead!!! She’s her own artist and own ownership rights now and so the past version is dead. And someone she loved betrayed her and sold her out. So sad
Yeah. Scott wasted alot of money😂😂😂😂
