Hi I'm Kathryn!
I am a former soloist with the New York City Ballet and Miami City Ballet. When I was a young student, I was always looking for insights into the ballet world and how to improve my dancing as well as beauty and lifestyle tips. Now that I am a professional, it is my turn to share.

I have to say that getting a professional color analysis was SO HELPFUL in determining what hue of makeup to get- I'm a light spring and that totally changed what kind of lipstick and blush I buy!

I adore L’Oreal lipsticks. The quality is excellent, and the variety of colors is endless.
My girls are just 10 and 8 and only preform 2 times a year 2 shows each time max, so I use a combo of Wet and Wild , and E.L.F.

I had the pleasure of watching a dance team competition a few weekends ago in a theatre (real old regal). I had forgotten how exposed everyone is on stage. The lighting, slanted stage and closeness shows a lot.

Yesssss this video was perfect! Love that you worked on both high end and low end! You should do a similar video but with skincare items and show us what you recommend to take off that heavy stage makeup. I currently use Albolene followed by micellar water on my Makeup Eraser and then go in with face wash

NYX Lingerie XXL has almost exact dupes for the Mac lipsticks, plus they are liquid lipsticks so they last forever. I use “On Fuego” for my daughter for Nutcracker. It’s a dupe for Ruby Woo from Mac.

Please would you have advice on what would be good colours for young kids on stage? Ballet teacher here. I’m always struggling with the advice for parents. Especially lips. And the parents who insist eye shadow should be blue….
I only recognise the MAC brand being available here, so maybe advice in their colours?
Or a tutorial for ballet children?
FYI - Elphaba's green isn't actually put on with stick...they use a special MAC Pro water based foundation that's applied with a literal watercolor brush and a little bit of water (it's basically like having watercolor applied to your face...) then they contour in purple and powder and set spray the heck out of you... you're actually wearing much less makeup as Elphaba that traditionally made up female roles (Glinda's makeup is much heavier than Elphie's...)
They actually use both! the water based pancake for broad coverage and stick for contour and fuller coverage.
❤ foundation stick I use when I it to run errands. I use powder more for evening. NYX powder is 😎 . Morphe as a splurge I use their brow pomade because my eyebrows are not what use to be due to chemotherapy in 2015. I normally use the Ulta brand.

Ulta does a 21 day sale in which there products are on sale. Be on the lookout for that.

I think you meant to say that they do liquid foundation on the Elphabas then green pancake. I have several friends that work as her makeup artist, and that is how it’s done, there is of course variety from artist to artist! Not a hater, just trying to help clarify.
With foundation what colour should you go for? The one you'd use in everyday life; lighter or darker? I know it depends on the lighting, but what should you choose when you're on a budget?

@KathrynMorgan Hi, I look VERY strange with fake eyelashes, to say the least. We did have to have a specific color for blush and lipstick (that did not suit me), but I think the eyelashes too harsh for my face and have shown up in some stage photos. Is there a way to make them seem less noticeable closer up while still making my eyelashes visible on stage?

I feel uncomfortable with opening makeup and using it - with fingers - and putting it back on the shelf for unsuspecting others to buy.
A lot look like samples, but I totally agree! I believe it is standard for the open display ones to be samples at a makeup store. 🖤
Those were samples that Kathryn was using. I’m sure she wouldn’t feel comfortable opening new makeup either.
