Thanks for all the detailed videos on these grinders, appreciate it. The difference in flavor and extraction could be explained by a more narrow particle distribution for the edge+ (which would be logical with larger burrs since there is less re-grinding). A more uniform distribution of particles will allow for a more even extraction as the resistance throughout the puck will be more even, and this more even extraction will also allow to extract more highly in a shorter timeframe (this is why for example SSP multipurpose burrs are able to hit good extractions with relatively quick shots). However when increasing the extraction yield beyond normal limits (in other words when extraction turns into over-extraction) most of the additional compounds that are extracted are bitter compounds (at an EY of 21% 90% of acidic compounds have already been extracted while only 70% of bitter compounds have been extracted) , leading to a more evenly extracted (therefore more flavorful) but also more overextracted (therefore more bitter) cup for the edge+
Very nice and detailed testing. I saw your last video and decide to go with the edge. Could you share where to get the espresso distributor or the 3D files.
Great video. Could you please help me, i bought the edge mainly for espresso, i found that i need to go till number 1 and still fast shot, noting that i use VST basket
Thanks, number 1 is the first step. What coffee are you using, which dose, process, roasting level, and date? Number 1 should be Turkish grind, and never sought for espresso.
@@morningcoffee1 I use Costa Rica - Tarrazu- Familia Monge Process: Black Honey - Dried on raised beds Variety: Arabica - Catuai - Caturra Roast : Light medium Elevation: 1500-1700 m volcanic Loam Dose: 15 grams Roast date : 10 days ago I slow feed the grinder to cut the beans evenly and avoid mushing them in the grinder, i know that it actually makes shots a lot faster than usual grinding 😀

Thank you for taking time to present experiment. Appreciate your post.
