    Love how these Ferrari “fans” talk down on the Cali. I’ve driven a few as well as the Portofino and the Roma and as a daily driver for the same money I like it more than a “manly” F430. To me the design is classic but hey, to each his own.

    • @thefauxtist4387
      @thefauxtist4387 2 роки тому

      I doubt there are any F430 owners that would call their cars daily drivers. The California is a chick's car. Great car, but a chick's car.

    • @kevinm8715
      @kevinm8715 2 роки тому

      I'd be perfectly happy with any of them (but prefer the Portofino M). I think that the challenge with this car is that the Cali is simply the most maligned modern Ferrari, and wrongly so. If it were a 381 mile F-car then it would be a slam dunk of a sale. Being what is essentially a museum piece but being an unpopular car...I'm just not sure that the money is there. Looking at other low mileage Californias you'd maybe be looking for $200k, up to maybe $250k. You might see $300k if it was truly uniquely optioned. You will need to find a truly specific collector to get the right buyer for this car. I think for most people, if they were going to spend $200k-$250k on a Ferrari daily driver they'd get a nice Portofino for the same money. Or if they really wanted a Cali they'd buy one that's been driven and isn't likely to have issues due to not being used.
      I hope I'm wrong and it ends up being a big win for them. Then there's part of me that wonders if getting it listed at one of the Monterrey Car Week auctions might have brought a better crowd. Best of luck!

      @@thefauxtist4387 Well interesting summary you wrote, but you still didn't give one example how it's a "chick" car. Being the rare female who owns and also appreciates all Ferrari's, I think your attitude towards the California is unfortunately biased. Actually Ferrari sold quite a few California's the NA model, and was quite profitable for them. Is it the first front engine V8, 2+2 configuration, or convertible top that makes it such a "chick" model that you dislike? I suggest you watch JayEmm's review of this car, and you might be surprised. My husband and I own the California 30 model, 2014 model with the handling especial suspension, and it's a great car, it's my husband's ride, he wanted the convertible. I see tons of men in California's, I hardly if ever see chick's driving them. It's by no means is supposed to be like a 458, 488, etc. It's an entry level Ferrari, but it doesn't suck, isn't a chick car, and is unfortunately the victim of rumors and ignorance among some Ferrari dudes.🏁

    Not a great investment for 380 miles of driving pleasure. The same $230,000 the owner paid for this car (out the door money) would have quadrupled since 2010 in a S&P 500 index fund.

Someone who parts with nearly a quarter million dollars for a motor vehicle and who then drives it an average of less than 40 miles per year over a 10+ year period has obviously given overriding priority to resale value over "car-ness."

    Are you aware of a product called "Super kilometer Filter"? Its a mileage blocker for most exotics. Are you ever worried one of your cars might be a rollback? or had a milage blocker installed at some point. I am a dealer also and when it comes to exotics, I'm always worried the car has more miles on it than shown. Its becoming pretty common in the car community now. First ti was the Montana plates everyone was 50/50 on and now its these mileage blockers. Just wondering your thoughts.

    • @normalguysupercar

      From what I have seen, they can be traced on Ferraris and other cars. My local dealer here in Scandinavia nixed a sale of an F8 three weeks ago, after realizing the owner had been using a SKF. We talked about it this Sunday when I was at my local Purosangue launch party. They will not disclose how they knew and what they looked for, but it is not true that they are totally untraceable.
      Here's the kicker. The owner is in a bind and have to get rid of the car for financial reasons. When they first confronted him, he had denied the whole thing. When they asked him to come and pick up his car and was informed that all Euro dealers would be informed, he tried to get it resolved by telling them that it was true and that they could set the odometer at the correct value. Ferrari asked for the car to be set correctly which was done, but this guy is now left with a car that has a major red flag with every single dealer from Sweden to Spain. I'm sure some dealer will pick it up for cheap and give it a clean slate after it has been gone through, but that guy is learning an expensive lesson.

    My "Sticky Buttons" was the single most expensive item on my 355. Meaning I bought my 30k mile parts from Ricambi , but did the labor myself, tires, clutch, etc. were all cheaper than paying to have the sticky buttons done. But, Sticky Rx, did a great job, not cheap but I think the best. IMO. I love the California; I think it shows cues from the one from the 60's. Great buy!

    The California is often criticized by people who have never driven one. I drove my neighbor's California and I was impressed with it. For a car that was designed to be a competitor to the Mercedes SL, it blows away the Mercedes. It is far more than just a trophy wife's car. It is a truly sporty GT. Mercedes just redesigned the SL and this twelve year old car is still better looking than the new SL.
