I think that Plato was probably right when it came to democracy about having an election because with democracy we elect all kinds of people who do not know how to run the country properly.
Democracy for an insignificant minority, democracy for the rich -- that is the democracy of capitalist society.
But democracy is not better at getting rid of bad governments (if by government you mean the entire system). Rather, it seems as if it does a good job of protecting special interest groups.
It's a way of making slaves feel like they are free.
1. Democracy doesn't represent the will of "the people" it represents the will of the most numerous demographic while the rest get screwed over. The divide and conflict we see in the USA are inherent symptoms of a system of winners and losers.
2. People prefer to live in a democratic country because they are wealthier and more developed not because they are democratic. Most of people would prefer to live in the authoritarian UAE than in democratic India.
3. Democracies don't go to war with each other isn't because they are democracies it's because most democratic countries today come from the western league of nations which were in the same league since they were monarchies, other democratic nations are either under the control of the west or they are too weak and know that a war is unwinnable.
