Thanks so much my friend. It is a very beautiful place for sure. There is a lot of mystery and some wild theories surrounding Tom Thomson's disappearance. It seems so unlikely that he would have a mishap in a canoe. But I guess we will never know for sure. Could be just some very bad luck. One wonders what beautiful paintings we missed out on because of his untimely death, but luckily he was a very prolific painter, producing about 450 paintings on wood and canvas. There is a tree on the shore of Smoke Lake in Algonquin Park that reminds me of TT's famous The West Wind painting every time I see it as it also sits by itself on an outcrop of rocks by the lake. Although I know this is not the tree that was the subject of his painting, it still reminds me of it. Thanks for your nice comments and thanks for watching!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, a trip to AP wouldn't be complete without a stop at the Portage Store for a Tom Thomson or Backpacker's Bacon Burger. And those same burgers have been on the menu for at least 35 years. It's always fun to sit in the restaurant by the window overlooking Canoe Lake to see the difference between the fresh and eager canoeists heading out for a week in the bush, and the ones coming back. haha. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this great video. I'm going to Canoe lake with my kids this week for our first time, hopefully to canoe. Weather permitting of course. It has been too long since I have bern in a canoe.
Oh that's great! I'm jealous! I know you'll have a great time. I absolutely love Algonquin Park and I'm sure you and your kids will too. Have fun and let me know about your trip after. :-)
The weather was on and off cloudy and sunny all week, with a bit of rain here and there. But great for hiking though as it was nice and cool. There are plenty of bears in Algonquin Park but I didn't see any this week. They pretty much keep to themselves unless they are raiding someone's improperly secured campsite cache of provisions. haha. Thanks for watching my friend.
@@PinoySwissabroad yes, I will for sure. Sorry I haven't been watching any videos at all for the last while, catching up on other stuff, but I will see you soon on your channel for sure. Looking forward to your new videos!
Thanks Sushee 😁 Next time I will make sure I have my camera on "record" when I have my Backpacker's Bacon Burger! Tom Thomson's disappearance and ultimate demise on Canoe Lake is still filled with mystery and a lot of folklore. How could someone so familiar with the lake and an expert canoeist meet their end this way? But generally accepted that he probably just ran into some bad luck. A real tragedy though as he had so many more years of great paintings ahead of him. Thanks for watching and thanks for your comments my friend.
The scenery outside the car window is beautiful. Oops, The bear in the picture said " it'll attract humans." Wow, finally you canoe! ~ Unfortunately, You could not because of the wind. But your safty is more important.
I'll be uploading my canoeing video soon hopefully. It was on a different day and on a different lake. This lake was too windy for canoeing on this day. It wouldn't have been enjoyable fighting the winds and perhaps a bit dangerous in open water where the waves would be pretty choppy. Thanks for watching my good friend HM!
Yes, I thought I was filming myself with my Backpacker's Bacon Burger lunch but didn't realize I had my camera on photo mode. So all I got was a picture of myself pressing the button on my camera. LOL And yes, that is a beautiful spot on the deck to relax in a Muskoka chair and take in the beautiful scenery of Canoe Lake. Thanks for your nice comments Armong and thanks for watching!
