Austin, your trumpet playing goes from strength to strength - and your improvising skills as well. The fact that it was recorded during the awful year of 2020 is an extra bonus - a great tonic for everyone concerned including us listeners. Stay well.
drums are so on point, seems to be channeling Max Roach. Practically playing drums as a melodic instrument! Great stuff all around, mad chops in that room
Yeah, thats something like that. I mean Inprovisations are something really individual and not really genre based. Though its most common in jazz, so you can say this jazz.
@@hughpenner5051 I'm 22 using an old photo and that information comes from a trumpet player with a PhD. Just because a lot of people use that doesn't make it right, just makes them stupid.
@@hughpenner5051 traditionally, cherokee is played at blazing tempos. but if the band has trouble keeping up with it, what's the point beyond trying to out-alpha one another? the trumpeter himself counts off and does not solo at his own tempo. when others are soloing, he doesn't seem to really listen. he just wants to get through them. all this being said, i really liked the variety of solos. everyone's gotta learn their limits though and what they can pull off for artistic, not athletic reasons.

So many charlie parker quotes lmfao. This serves as a great reminder that music is fun and spontaneous. Keep up the great work.
i really love how the drummer took the opportunity during the bari solo and just went for it, so much talent here

Love the sailors hornpipe quote.
Stolen straight off Charlie Parker. It's like people can't play anything original anymore.
@@F0nkyNinja uhh, that’s the point of quoting. Its to play something unoriginal

Drummer!
So wait how does this game go?
Each person picks a feel and tempo when it's their turn to solo and the rhythm section has to hear it and follow
Drummer blew the form.
Why?
Dislike just because the trumpet player has his pinky in loop by the valves. Unacceptable in most situations
I went to school and have played with professionals. There are only two accepted situations, quick mute changes and certain marching scenarios.
