I cut out the rap music recently and started listening to old soul music. When I began listening to old music I noticed I was in a better mood. I noticed the difference. We went from songs about love of ourselves to hate ourselves and it's done purposely.

Yeah, but not all music is made to evoke violent behavior and no one is forcing people to listen to $hit like drill. It’s just that everyone goes for the stuff that’s popping rather than thinking for themselves because of peer pressure and not wanting to be laughed out by their circle of friends. With all these theories on frequencies of music and all that, we overcomplicate the real explanation as to why we do what we do, which is to do what everyone else is doing as a way to play it safe and fit in. I’ve been doing everything he mentioned about tones for years. I listened to classical music when I was 15 to put me to sleep at night. I’m the same about rap music, maybe while working out but I’d prefer gospel music while working out because it lifts my spirits to push harder.

As a 43 years old Black man who is extremely pro-Black a student of our spiritual father & my master teacher Dr. Malachi Z. York i do listen to certain hardcore hip hop artists of 1990 -mid 2000's at times but the majority of what they are rapping about become to overbearing for me.
