I bought this "A1.7 TBR" guitar from Thomann before christmas. It was a customer returned b-stock with price of 1035€. Unfortunately it had a severely high fret. Maybe 6th or 7th fret. The lower 4 strings was buzzing like hell. Even when i set the action all the way up from the evertune, it was still buzzing. So it was unplayable, so i sent it back. Why do i tell this? Because i think that they are now selling the same guitar 999€ at Thomann. (January 9th 2021) They got it back this week and now there's that red b-stock solar a1.7 tbr for sell again. So if anybody is eyeballing that guitar and watches some UA-cam videos of it, you have been warned.
Solar makes the best looking guitars i have ever seen i think red on the frets is cool kind of like assembly line muscle cars that rock awesome, and have paint marks under the car or in places when brand new.
Thx for boss review of retributions generally im massive fan of fishmans they working great on my 7 and 6 string guitars but want one of my 7 string (Washburn Solar V) to have different sound and yesterday i ordered retribution set after watching your video thx man
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial well i will definitely first need to wait till April to get those fitted and set up by luthier shop going to do proper video tho took me some times to get pc audio crap all set up camera vids not good enough
In the demo it sounds like the Duncan Solar's were flooded with mids, I think it is meant to scoop them cuz Ola does this thing sliding a power chord arpeggio...the Retribution sounded very good tho but still shows excessive saturation...maybe a little bit less gain and you will get all the sharpness of it
I'm enjoying this demo. I won't lie if I played a 7 string guitar (instead a 6 which has EMG 81 and 85). I would seriously consider using these Retribution pickups. That and Fear Factory is easily one of my favorite bands of all time.
Thank you mate! I just recorded a cover of "Resurrection" by FF with these pickups and the new Dino plugin from Toneforge. See what you think!: - ua-cam.com/video/82k2LIX1OSY/v-deo.html
I have the same guitar in black and found your vid researching the same pickups. Was your hole routing only around sides or was the hold not deep enough?
lol have all effin 3, yes the trifecta im looking at a lefty, sounds good, amp and speaker will be the tester for me as the stacked origin comp will give some stacked fet bite into any amp, good review
No hidden fees mate buying direct from Solar to me in the UK. However Brexit has now completely screwed all that and if I was to buy now there would be Import Fees and VAT added.
Thanks for the video! Discovered the b stock solars thanks to you! Had to google it, there’s no link on the solar website, it’s solar-guitars.com/community....
That’s weird because all of my solar guitars are fretted flawlessly and I haven’t seen any similar reviews as of late (not counting when they first launched).
If you join the Solar Guitars User Group on Facebook you will see issues like these are very common particularly in this current model year: facebook.com/groups/solarguitarsusergroup Probably also worth noting that a lot of Solar reviews on UA-cam are from people who where supplied the Guitar either on free loan or free to keep basis. All mine where purchased with my own readies!
can't get over how much clarity these pick-ups have . Insane.
They are fucking amazing. My favourite 7 string pickups and just bought another set to get fitted to my Legator Ruby N7FX ❤️
I just grabbed a set for my RG7321. Cant wait to install these and jam. The clarity sounds unbelievable!

I just got my hand on this beast. I prefer stock pickups 😎🤘
I see quite a few on the Solar group like them too. Each his own! I loved the SD Retributions so much I have fitted them to 3 of my guitars now!
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial Don't get me wrong like your pickups too, but no clue how to change pickups even if I wanted too 👈😅
Those Retributions sound so much clearer. The stocks were pretty muddy.
Agreed mate. They are out of production now so snap them up while you can!

A pleasure buddy let me know what you think of them! I've put them in all my 7's now.

The Retribution is actually not as hot as a standard blackout and is less hot than any EMG, the extra gain is me cranking it! lol
Great video! Subscribed
Thank you mate.
I believe the neck is fatter Alnico while bridge is ceramic. Can you verify for me James.
Are you referring to the Duncan Solar pick-ups or the Retributions I replaced them with?
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial the retribution pups

Depth was fine it was just a case of width.
bought the bridge pickup for my ltd mh 417 and it absolutely destroys the emg 81-7 (which it didnt sound bad at all).
love it so far
Awesome mate. I'm hoarding sets of these without guitars to put them in I like them that much! 😂

Nice!! Thanks for watching!
Were there any hidden fees when you purchased the guitar? How was tax and shipping cost?

I’ve seen many videos where the V-series comes with the solar gig bag. Weird

Great dude glad it helped. Thomann also have B Stocks fairly regularly too.

Shooting it this week 👍👍
