    Thank you so much, Martin! After watching all the tutorials you posted I think there is a hugely important lesson we should take from them: if you're going for a "magical" photo under no circumstances give up on the photo before the magic happens.
    Like "Ok, I've been on this for quite some time already, and it's not exactly what I would like but it's good enough" and to make the shot better you suddenly realize "oh god, I know what to do to make it better, but I would have to start it all over again after working on it on 4 hours and I feel like my brain is melting" and that's the exact moment where it can go from a good photo to a pretty great photo. Sometimes you're lucky and you don't need to go through that, but from what I've seen so far both in my experience and in your tutorials that the persistence of going through when you feel like "it's enough" is exactly what forges the photos you as a photographer are most proud of, no matter your experience level.

      Fantastic comment and insight. Working as an assistant years ago I recall that we had several shooting "booths" or setups going at a time, sometimes as many as 6 for 2 photographers and myself. (I got to shoot some of the "pack shot" type images.). The reason being that the photographer might think there was something more to be had from the image but wasn't quite sure what it was. So we would move over to the next soup and go to work on it. Often when we got back to the original shot it was like immediately obvious what to do to make the shot that little bit better that would make all the difference in making it magical.
      I agree with you that persistence is the key. If we strive for magic it takes a lot of time and effort. And coffee.

    Hello Martin,
    I was able to learn from you again today, as I have so often before. Many thanks.
    Maybe you remember. I am the one who photographs lamps. Unfortunately, there are still no photographers who show how to photograph table lamps, hanging lamps, crystal lamps etc. in a special way.
    Maybe you can advertise a competition one day. Very special and certainly not easy, but I would be very happy to learn from the professionals here.

    Just one tip for peoples, which want to copy the camera/tripod-setup from the video: It wouldn´t be a bad idea, to use a counterweight on the other end from the horizontal extension arm. You probably might not have a heavy tripod, like botvidsson...

    Thanks it is a great tutorial but how did you get the flour to be grey as it seems to only come in white?

    • @botvidsson
      @botvidsson  3 роки тому +1

      Elizabeth, the reason why the flour is grey is because the flash/light comes in at a very low angle, the white surface of the flour will not reflect into the camera lens. Also, the power is at a low power.

    • @botvidsson

      It’s adapter hell but it works with my H5D MS50. You need to buy two expensive adapters, think it’s from Apple. FireWire800 to USB and USB to USB-C… if I remember correct. Yes I guess it must be USB… or maybe thunderbolt! FW800-Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt-USB-C. They told me there’s no FW800-USB-C adapter when I bought it many years ago. Maybe now? Sorry for the messed up answer. 😄
