To be fair, if both players have equal levels of talent but one loves the game more and thus works just that slight bit harder, etc. they will be better, but you're right about the context here.
Kageyama saying "I'm glad I made it here too" is a callback to Hinata saying the same thing after seeing Hoshiyumi play (the white haired seagull tiny giant kid). Hinata said it because he sees a better player than himself and how much room he has to grow, and Kageyama feels the same thing after seeing Atsumu's perfect crazy set. It really is a an extremely moving moment considering Kageyama usually doesn't voice his admiration for the opponent (other than Oikawa lol)

Also, coach Ukai clapping for that one set really does mean a lot, since back in the day he was a setter too. Can't tell if Nicky simply isn't a morning person, or if she straight up genuinely despised the episode. We're 4 seasons in, so still complaining about the flashbacks is kinda... meh. They're one of the strongest parts of Haikyuu as a story. It's not a "immediate gratification" kind of narrative. Of course every consumer has things they like/dislike, it's just that this kinda makes me worried about how she's going to react to the future seasons.

Notice how they said Osamu was naturally more talented than Atsumu, and yet Atsumu was chosen for the youth training camp and not Osamu. Why? Why is Atsumu considered the prodigy and how did he surpass Osamu by the time they got older? It’s because Atsumu loves volleyball “a smidge more” than Osamu. This comes full circle to the original point of Haikyu: the love of volleyball, and how it is what creates a genius/prodigy. It is not a genetic trait people are born with (the Miya’s are twins with the same genes). This subverts the previous ideas of Season 2 that Oikawa believed (to his insecurity and detriment).

This here, shows what a lot of big Karasuno fans are unable to admit. Atsumu at this point in time is in my opinion, a FAR superior player to our boy Kageyama. The fact that Ukai stands and applauds this set shows the difficulty it took to pull off, both physically AND technically. I think that Marketa and Suraj really did manage to appreciate the technicality of that set. Which a lot of reactors do not manage to do.

But he still lacks some of the technical skills Atsumu has, as well as his ability to relate to other players. I'm disappointed how less impactful Kinnoshita and Nishinoya's moment was in the anime. In the manga, it was so emotional for so many readers. Maybe because Kinnoshita was given more subtle "screentime" in the manga, and that this moment was more foreshadowed there. Kinnoshita represented the benchwarmers. A lot of reactors (not saying Normies, but just YT & Twitch reactors in general) mock the 3 2ndyr benchwarmers like "who even are you?" "why are you guys still here?" "what's their use?", etc... And this was Furudate's MOMENT for them. Noya is Karasuno's hero since S1 Dateko game. He saved them over and over bec he is their greatest defender. And in Noya's time of need, it wasn't Asahi or Hinata or Tanaka or 3rd yrs who helped him get to this point, it was Kinnoshita - a benchwarmer. Karasuno would have never reached this point if Ennoshita, Kinnoshita and Narita didn't show up everyday and every practice even though they never get to play in official matches. Karasuno main players only improved because the benchwarmers practised with them all this time.
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like a lot of reactors were never actually into sports as an athlete being a part of a competitive team. I'm an anime-only and a lot of the stuff most reactors miss (reasoning behind certain plays and what certain moments mean) hit me on my first watch. That probably does give me a closer level of empathy to all the players in the show, but I don't really know what is missing besides adding a few more moments in the earlier seasons to get people to like them. I just know I wouldn't want the show to hit me over the head with how important something is.
