I only have the basic Atlas (no WiFi), and my landlord won't let me install it above the roofline or in any manner that's "permanently attached" to the building, so I opted to attach it to a 3"x3" piece of lumber, and (even though below the eve line) worm-clamped to the corner of the balcony railing. Since I live in an apartment complex, the "wind tunnel" effect between the buildings means that I get (mostly) westerly winds all the time, and the eddy currents of that make it so I can't get accurate wind directions (the wind vane always seems 'confused' as to which direction the wind's coming from, even under no-wind conditions. All-in-all, though, I like the unit.
I'm glad you are liking it. Mounting in a good spot is tricky, luckily I was able to get the additional mount and get mine up out of the way. Thanks for watching!
The Atlas is a little more pricey, but they do offer several other great units that have similar features for less than $200. That said, if you sign up for their emails, they send regular notifications of sales on these units making them much more affordable. I love having access to weather info on my phone 24/7 and no longer have to screw around with an old rain gauge. Thanks for watching Jack!
Interesting product, love the accuracy of the weather conditions. Well done video from details on installation to your thoughts. I am loving the honest reviews and lawn content, keep up the great work!
After a few months of using this, I absolutely love it. It is so nice having accurate weather information specific to my property at my fingertips on the app and/or on the screen in my living room. I highly recommend this unit. Thanks for watching!
They claim it can handle the cold, the big issue I see is battery life. My outdoor cameras all seem to have battery issues in the cold, so in assuming this will too. Time will tell. Thanks for watching!
As a seasoned weather station user for the past 25 years, I have tried about 6 different systems over the years. In a climate that has extreme highs and lows and wild wind. To everyone reading this…. Stay away from the style of station this guy bought. You do not want moving parts to measure the wind. They will go bad within a few years in many cases. You want to spend a few more dollars on an ultrasonic style wind sensor.
I could care less about the wind, I really just was concerned with mainly accurate rainfall measurements and temperature/humidity measurements - it works great for that.
I have had mine for over a year now and it has worked fantastic for me. The battery life is great (I have only had to change batteries once in over a year) and it keeps signal well. I love accessing the info real-time on my phone and having the weather station inside to see details all the time. I love this thing!
I was not even aware that they made a solar option for this, I will have to check it out. Since I have put it up, I have only had to change the batteries once so far. The solar option would be a game changer if you are mounting it in a more hard to access area. Thanks for watching!
I glance at the lighting information now and then when it storms and it does provide the lighting count, time of last strike, and range of how close it is to the weather station. That said, I have no way to actually tell if this information is accurate or not, but it does provide good information that seems accurate based on the conditions I see outside when it is reporting them.
i had one for 4 days. signal would go from 4 bars to nothing and stay out for hours.. outside unit was 85ft from inside unit. i took it back. i dont think anyone makes a good and reliable unit unless you get into the davis units and they are very expensive. acurite, ambient weather ect. seem to all have issues. i just use app on phone now. its sad companies dont care about their products anymore.
That's too bad, I have not had that issue personally. I purchased this one with my own money, and have been pretty pleased with it. Although I will say that the setup was a total pain. Thanks for watching!
You will want to visit the Acurite website and click sign in at the upper right corner (use the info you used to login to your phone app). This will pull up your weather station info on your account. Thanks for watching!
I could not get this thing to connect to the wifi nor acu-rite app on iphone. Nothing at all from my pc to wifi either. The outdoor display seems fine though.
That's too bad, did you try contacting Acurite for support? I was able to finally get mine connected. The wifi feature is very nice. Thanka for watching!
@@TheLawnLover In the end, it did work. It just never would connected until I quit and closed all apps. Then it mysteriously just started working when I launched it again. It's like it was working, but not until after you closed the app after configuration. Just very odd behavior. I think they aren't refreshing the app after each attempt. So it doesn't ever say it was successful at anything.
I agree, the wifi hookup was not user friendly at all. I had better luck on my desktop computer doing it. Once you get it setup you will love it, mine has worked perfectly.
No it's not !!!!!! this thing is a piece of junk !!!! there are all kinds of reviews saying that it will not communicate and that's exactly what happened to me and it took me 3 to 4 weeks to send the piece of junk back and get my money back from Amazon 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
I'm sorry you had that issue. I bought this unit and am not affiliated with them. I have had nothing but success with mine, I love it. Thanks for watching!

I have seen these before and they look awesome, but somewhat pricey. I will have to look into it - great video 👍

Glad you enjoyed it! I appreciate your support Gary!
This thing looks awesome - I love all the features and the indoor screen that comes with it. I need to look into this. Thanks for sharing!

I would be very curious to see how this thing holds up over the midwest winter.
They claim it can handle the cold, the big issue I see is battery life. My outdoor cameras all seem to have battery issues in the cold, so in assuming this will too. Time will tell. Thanks for watching!
Cool product, great video 🙌
It really is! Thanks for watching! 🤜💥🤛

I was thinking of upgrading to ultrasonic is Ambient ws 5000 good enough?
I want one of these but I'm really stuck on the RADDY WF-100C PROFESSIONAL WEATHER STATION.. Just no lightning alerts
I haven't heard of that one before
So I’m two inches from buying this is it worth it

I got an Atlas years but since they discontinued the Acurite Acces I can’t connect to the wi-fi anymore , any idea or suggestion to keep this working
That I am not sure of, have you tried reaching out to Acurite service directly to see if they have a solution? Thanks for watching!
Let me know when you make a video showing the one with the solar. No batteries.

I have an acurite but not the atlas. The accuracy on these things is impressive. Great video 👍
Thanks for watching!
How accurate is the lighting strike detection

How do they hold up in the Midwest weather?
It's minus 4 degrees with -24 degree wind chill currently and it's still holding strong!

How do I access atlas info on my pc

LOL, I checked my other phone and it is working and synced fine. I now check this phone and it is working fine. This app is so retarded.

What an awesome product!!! Thanks for this video!

Hooking this weather station up to Wi-Fi is a nightmare!!! It's about ready to go back 😡😡😡😡😡
