Col Ashwani Thakur (Retd) is a distinguished alumnus of Delhi University and the Officers Training Academy, Chennai. Commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery, he dedicated 34 years of service to the Indian Army. Throughout his career, Col Thakur served in various active field areas, leading and conducting critical operations in the challenging terrains of Northeast India and Jammu and Kashmir.
In addition to his operational roles, Col Thakur made significant contributions as an instructor in the Army Adventure Cell, where he specialized as a hot air balloon pilot. He also served as a Group Testing Officer (GTO), imparting his extensive knowledge and experience to future military leaders. An avid adventurer, he is not only a skilled rider but also a passionate mountaineer, scuba diver, and accomplished sportsperson. Col Thakur's career is a testament to his dedication, versatility, and unwavering commitment to the nation.
