Hello from Northern Alabama! I really liked your response to Tom Merrick's “I'm Starting Over” video. I have been starting over since 2015. I was a double bacon cheeseburger, a large order of fries, and a chocolate milkshake from being 300 lbs. Today I'm weighing in at 196 lbs, more flexible, and stronger, and so far thank God I haven't hurt myself, yet. I also just started formal training in TKD (after 39 years due to a left-knee injury), Ho-Am Tae Kwon-Do. After my knee replacement surgery 4 years ago I can now kick and balance on my left knee, it's been a game changer for me. At 66 years years old and retired, I have to adjust my training and expectations. I'm not 19 anymore, but I have the time, just not the same energy level. But I can make Tae Kwon-Do a lifestyle-changing experience for me. I follow your and Tom's Channels, but also practice both of your training methods. I also follow the “Sliding Bench Trainer” Channel. I do resistance training with weights while I'm stretching along with barbells and dumbbells and of course my “Encompass” Total Gym. Great advice, keep the advice and the videos coming, and thanks for being there.
Hi there, greetings from Avoca Beach Australia! Firstly, it's incredibly encouraging to hear about your ongoing fitness journey, and your incredible weight loss transformation. Kudos for the determination and tenacity you've shown, it's something I deeply admire. You bring up a great point about age and energy levels. It's true that as we age, our workout routines and goals need to be adjusted, and sometimes it can be challenging. But I truly believe that with the right mindset and approach, those goals are still very much within reach. I think it's fantastic that you're integrating different training methods into your routine, and even better that you're finding a balance that works for you. That's the essence of creating a sustainable, lifestyle-changing experience as you mentioned. Thank you for following my channel. I'm glad you're finding value here. Looking forward to sharing more videos with you. Keep on fighting the good fight! 💪
Starting over is not the same as taking a challenge at the first time.. true, it is hard as people always expect you to preform at high level and this comes with a lot of pressure but, you know you did it once.. you already know the path to achieve the goal, you know how to avoid the mistakes you previously did and, the human body is highly effective and smart. There is a built in memory that makes the second or third time easier and faster.. keep up the good work both of you.. nice to see that ido and roee originated from israel are having such a great impact on the fitness❤💪 community
Hi there! Thanks for joining the discussion and sharing your insight. I completely agree with your point on starting over - it does come with its own set of challenges, including the pressure of expectations. But, as you rightly pointed out, having been down the path once already, we have the advantage of knowing what to expect, and how to navigate obstacles more effectively. The body's memory indeed helps us get back into the swing of things much quicker the second or third time around. Regarding Ido and Roye, they've been enormous influences on the Unify Movement System (UMS). I've had the privilege of working with Roye for 2 years, and his insights have been instrumental in shaping the UMS. Their contributions to the fitness community are truly commendable. Again, thanks for your encouraging words and for contributing to the conversation. Keep up your own good work too! 💪❤️
really love this channel. seemd to have lots of integrity in all its messages and a consistent attitude to whats preferable for someone wanting to improve their strength flexibility and fitness

As a follower of Tom's channel, i appreciate this reaction. I'll never have the physique either of you guys do, but you guys encourage me to get better. Hearing someone like Tom have doubts when he's a god compared to me, helps as well. Cheers!
I'm really glad you found value in my reaction to Tom's video. It's so important to remember that we all have our unique journeys and doubts, regardless of where we are on our fitness path. Tom is an extraordinary individual, and even he experiences those moments of uncertainty - it's human! We're all about progress, not perfection. Our focus should always be on getting a little bit better each day. The goal isn't to be like Tom or me, but the best version of yourself. The fact that you're here, seeking to improve and grow, is a testament to your commitment and resilience. Keep pushing, and remember that every step you take is a step towards progress. Cheers to your health and continued growth! 💪😊🙌
So true I see videos and think I want to be able to do x y and z but being realistic about the amount of work to achieve those goals and how much time you have is really important. At the end of the day if we work on strength and flexibility we feel better in our bodies and hopefully they stay working better for longer and that should be the overall goal I think!
Absolutely, you've hit the nail on the head! It's key to set realistic expectations and understand the time and effort that's required to achieve certain goals. We often get caught up in the glamor of performing certain moves or reaching specific milestones, but the most important thing is to feel good in our bodies. By focusing on improving our strength and flexibility, we ensure that our bodies remain functional, resilient, and healthy for longer. It's not about chasing external validation, but about creating an internal environment of wellness and capability. Thank you for sharing your perspective, it's great to have you here in our community! 🙌💪😊
Thank you so much! I really aim to bring more depth and thoughtfulness into these discussions about fitness and well-being. Your feedback makes all the difference! If there's anything else you'd like to see or any topics you want me to cover, don't hesitate to drop a comment. Stay strong and flexible! 💪😄
Hey, I have grand goals after rehab😂 after all your inspiration - well, lots of work for you then... But very true. Sadly a lot of people my age (43) think that they are too old for lots of sports. Because they can't do the crazy influencer stuff they see all day. But even with training just once or twice a week you can reach a lot. Sorry for spamming comments today 😂 a rare day of lots of free time
Thanks for your kind words! I'm so happy that you're enjoying these videos. But just to make sure I understand you correctly, did you mean 'reaction videos'? Because if we're talking about relativity, I might have to brush up on my Einstein! 😉😄 Let me know if there's anything specific you'd like me to cover in future videos.
@@UnityGymOnline thank you for the response. I actually meant ‘relativity’ but maybe not best use of the word. I didn’t mean it in a relativistic physics sense. I very much appreciate it when you talk about what’s possible and realistic as an older adult, which I am.
So relatable. I’ve been experiencing this for the last few years. Still it’s an important message as it reminds me to be grateful for the progress & consistency that I do have - even when life forces me to train less. 🥲
