I love that Keith plays music 🎶 overnight for the deceased ♥️ that warms my heart Thank you 🙏 I am a hospice social worker so I’m in the death business as well in the end stages of life
blbrz8 I love that he does it! He’s the only one so I always know when he closes up at the funeral home. He sometimes asks the families what kind of music their loved one likes and he’ll play that!
How precious !!! To do just the littlest gift of leaving on the music for the person makes my heart so warmed. May God bless you all so much for what you do. God is watching you every second and He has noticed all the little things that you do that no one would know about and He will be rewarding you for your sweet TLC
Thank you for sharing your day in and outs of what I consider to be a very interesting job. I love your work ethic and would completely trust a loved one in your hands as well as Keith's. The fact he plays music for the recently departed gives your funeral home the extra comfort that whomever passed is treated with thoughtfulness and dignity. Bravo!!
The thing about your videos that i love, is that you are such a positive, funny and just generally nice person to watch. So even though you know, your a funeral director, watching your videos kind of make me happy and see it in a more positive light. Thank You! :)
pau barragan thank you so much! My profession can be very depressing, but I always remember that being a funeral director doesn’t mean that I can’t enjoy all of the good aspects of my life!
@@LittleMissFuneral It would be neat if you did a vlog of some of the cemeteries that are in your area and show some of the monuments aka tombstones. I go to historic Hollywood cemetery (Richmond VA-have some family members buried there). A lot of the tombstones are very old and made of materials that the tombstone makers can't get anymore.
I’m planning on going to school to be a funeral director/ mortician/ embalmer, whatever job happens. Hopefully all of the above. so THANK YOU FOR YOUR CHANEL AND VIDEOS, gives me insight into the industry. You’re such a beautiful, smart, hard working woman. I hope I do my job half as good as you do when I get there! Keith is hilarious also lol
Wow ... It's nice to hear that you get some down time to kind of catch up on paper work and some home time to relax and unwind ... quite the schedule you have even though it can change on a moments notice ... really enjoy watching and listening to your videos ... all the best.

Hi Lauren , That is very kind of Keith to play the music. There used to be a pickle plant ( Atkins Pickles ) close to here that made some awesome Polish pickles. You can't get them anymore and I miss them.
I have a suggestion for you. If you have a fence for your dog,put a carbiner or something through the gate so your dog won't open it with his nose and get out.I had a black lab who would do that. Tell Keith to PUT ON HIS SEAT BELT! If he was in Virginia -he would be getting a ticket.
I’m in a pre-nursing program and work as a nurse assistant. I love helping people but the way nurses eat each other alive and don’t support each other makes me hate it. Also in my class our teacher is a nurse and is constantly invoking the fear of messing up and losing your license. I’ve been VERY interested in the Mortuary Science program and the life of a funeral director. I love helping people, and like busy work, I can handle emotional people, I can handle deceased bodies and morbid ideas. I really think I would do well in this field. I have found some online courses for funeral service in terms of office, and basic laws. I’m wondering if that would be beneficial while I pursue school. Also is it possible to get an entry level job in the field and go to school as well? You’re a big inspiration, thanks for these!
Very interesting vid! It would be cool however if you would do you video exclusively on your on calls: especially some stories that have stood out, and a procedural routine of what your uncle consist of😊👍❤
Adventures with Kate and Chelsey I’ve always wanted to get my bachelors but in NY you only need an associate degree and school is expensive! Hopefully one day I’ll go back for my bachelors!
I'm a funeral directors assistant and I currently work at a location that barely ever gets buisness and it drives me insane not having things to do. I work in this business to serve families and I feel like I cant even do that at the place I am at cause theres never an work. 😢 I love watching your channel and I have worked at super busy locations in the past so I understand the lack of sleep routine but I truly miss the busy flow.
You mentioned in this vlog that one of the first things you do upon arriving at the funeral home is check the body of the deceased to see if they need any cosmetics/attention. What else do you all look for when you have a person who is in a visitation room from that time until the actual funeral/burial? Also, I've always wanted to ask a funeral director if they check for signs of life when a body arrives at the funeral home before the embalming process takes place?
Great video. Very interesting and informative. Can you show your outfits more in the future. Just curious as to what a younger female director wears. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Paul Thomas I’ve been thinking about filming some outfit videos for people who are interested. I do have some outfit posts on my blog! You can check those out at littlemissfuneral.com or google “what little miss funeral wears”
i love all ur videos and how long does it take to embalm someone and how do u deal with someone who has a disabled handicap person in a wheelchair Funeral or casket or urn thanks
Dominic Badalamenti it depends on what religion a person is as to if the casket is closed. Normally the casket is closed and items are placed on the lid (a funeral pall is placed for catholic masses, flowers go on top a lot of time for christian services). When we do Orthodox funerals a lot of times the casket stays open in Church. We do whatever the priest/minister asks of us!
Ryan Toler not a dumb question! Most of the time I talk and don’t even realize the terms I use. A pall is a white cloth that covers a casket during a catholic mass. When we bring a casket into the church, we put the pall on it and walk out and wait till the end of the mass, when we take it off and process out of the church.
Treatmenice I take one vacation a year at least, last year I took two great vacations! It all depends on your employer. I have never had an issue taking a vacation where I work. I will also take a weekend off here and there if I have certain things to do. It’s just not a Monday-Friday job!
As for burning out , I worry about that all the time. I was VERY close to leaving the funeral profession about five years ago. When I feel myself really burning out I’ll ask for a day off here and there to relax. It all depends on how busy the funeral home is though! That’s why I try to leave AS SOON as my work is done.
Hi, I LOVE your vlogs, I have a couple of questions though.... Im 21 from England and i aspire to be a funeral director one day.... Over here we don't have mortuary schools and usually funeral homes are a family run kinda thing... I can't get employment due to having no experience and I keep getting rejected from job applications. Im at a loose end as I don't know what to do. I have done A LOT of research in my spare time about funeral homes and the processes. I understand it'll be different over there but, do you have any advice for a young aspiring funeral director? Thank you. P.s - I love your vlogs, they're so genuine and real. Not fake or staged and I think when talking about such a taboo subject like death, it's important not to really sugarcoat things as it were. x
at the first part of the video when you were doing your make up there seems to be a pic over your right shoulder - what is it ?-- looks like a dog with a towel over his nose to me ? when you went to the cemetery after the mass - they have a chapel there ? then you bring the body to the grave ... does the family not go to the grave ? do they stay till the body is lowered ?i am not sure the purpose of the cemetery chapel .... we go straight to the grave site -have the benediction then family leaves except for family pall bearers then the body is lowered . thank you for your videos and wisdome
silentfades correct on the photo! It’s a dog with a towel and it says “me time” on it. We bought it because it looks just like our dog! And almost every cemetery will give the family an option if they have a chapel; families can go there or to the graveside for final prayers. Families can always come to graveside but sometimes they decide not to for various reasons. (I work in Buffalo, it’s cold and we have a lot of snow so during winter months families don’t go a lot. Or if the grave is far from the road and family members might have difficulty walking there)
the doctor when families first come in it’s very common that people can’t go up and view their loved one. I never push someone to view their deceased, but typically after some time they end up walking up to the casket with other family members who are there to support them. I think this is a very interesting question and I might do a video on it in the future!

That's interesting to know that New York does not require a vault for a burial. It IS REQUIRED here in Virginia.

Maybe a dumb question but what is the pall (lord knows I'm spelling that wrong)? You keep saying "we got the pall on", but what is that?
