So.... is this a bridge between Meg's Ultimate Fast Finish and a traditional SiO2 coating? If so, is it UFF on steroids and will UFF be discontinued? I tried calling Megs to find out but they are only available via chat so I chatted on the website. They said UFF is still in production (no plans to d/c it) and the Ceramic Paint Coating Kit is 1yr plus whereas UFF is meant to be a 1yr protection claim.
Completely different products. This is an actual coating but not SiO2. UFF is a sealant. During a detailed overview, UFF's claim was 1 year protection from 52 washes, whatever that actually meant in the real world. While this is 1 year PLUS
According to meg's no Sio2 in paint coating !. But hybrid in what ??? Polysiloxane + ? .. Do you know whether to throw away applicator and microfiber after use?
Anybody watching this should head over and watch the video by MK's deep dives, he goes over this product in great detail, and it helps as he was a former Meguiars employee. The TL:DR this is a real coating, it has a measurable thickness, and will last one year PLUS. Emphasis on the PLUS depending on variables, so it could be 1 year or 2 or 3 depending on what your car is exposed to. The main benefit is the ease of application. No worrying about high spots during application, and easy removal. And I don't mean to sound like a Meguiars spokesperson, I just want to help people understand this is by far not just "UFF with steroids." I applied this to my wife's MDX and it was easy as they marketed. And with any coating in general, decontamination and polishing is a MUST to get the full benefits. Sadly I think too many people out there are going to skimp out and apply this to an unprepared surface and then cry foul that it doesn't last long.
Remember: this is a hybrid paint coating. A consumer coating. Zero ceramic. Polysiloxane (I think that’s how you spell it) is the main “coating” ingredient in this. Meguiars has an actual resin-delivered ceramic coating, M688. This is meant to be a easy to apply, beginner spray coating that produces great results. No, I don’t work for Meguiars. I just watch too many detailing videos and read too many product labels/descriptions.
Applied it to my mother's car and omg it's so good !!! Super glossy, very slick, and hydrophobic. The car started to look like new again, no sealants or waxes will give you this look. If I didn't know I will tell that car is coated with a ceramic coating something like cquartz!
Has to be applied at 60 F or warmer, that's a bit restrictive sadly. Not a great time to release this to the consumer market, I won't be able to put this on "properly" until April or May lol!
@@jimmyqballs And here's the sad point I do Owen a house and I have a double car garage its stuff with toys my 1966 Chevy impala super sport sitting up in their and then all the cleaning agents. Ok, So now that you've added a second layer and then wet it immediately, you need to start this all over again. The first application you did 24 hours before nullified when you re-applied the coating again. You can't apply second layers to a curing coating and then wet it right after without waiting another 24 hours. You need to polish it off, re-apply, wait 7 days, and THEN do you're comparisons. I would add that you should compared this to Carpro Cquartz Lite, as it's also easy to use as it has no cure time.
@@autodetailingpodcast layer yes, wet immediately no. Also I meant to say flash time, cquartz lite has no flash time, which I think is one of the harder parts of coating application, especially for beginners.
Good looking packaging and a decent finish which may last six months. Let’s see this go against the new Turtle Wax line up since they are both retail giants. Comparing compounds would be cool too!
Hey Jimbo, I just put this coating on my 01 Audi tt convertible, and my 2019 Rogue. Prepped both with 2 step correction, and wiped down with ip. I really like the coating, this is my first real coating, it seems to be a good beginner coating. I love the hydroponics it sheds water like its allergic to it. Any way, love your videos keep up the awesome work thanks for sharing.
I think it looks great, especially for the price. I think longevity will be the ultimate decider of how great this coating is when compared to its peers. I’d like to see this up against Dallas Paint Corrections new T6EX, Fast Finish, and Dura Coating Technology’s new Graphene coating.
Longevity is the most important factor. How long does that thing last on the paint? Scott H has proven that most coatings are actually good for about 2 years. If this thing can last 2 years, it will make it a good product. On the other hand if it's more of a 1 year product, then I would stick with the must lower cost Seal and shine.
Definetly pair it up with fast finish and turtle wax flex/to the max wax. Fast finish for the aerosol nature and turtle wax graphene for durability comparison.
Why is anyone even comparing this to ultimate fast finish? They are in two different Ball parks. Neither one has any comparable ingredients. Are we stupid enough to think there are similar because the can is similar? No it’s not FF and no it’s not a ceramic coating. New technology people
Compare it to sns 2.0, meguiars ceramic wax, mothers cmx and the turtle wax ceramic coating if you can, maybe even throw in the new TW graphene waxes. Should be a great video. 👍
Good video. It's been awhile since you made it but I purchased this product on clearance at Advanced Auto for 10 bucks. I'm sure theres better stuff out there now, but I hope it will work we'll.

How is it at the end of life? Meaning will this come off using clay bar? I can see this being difficult to get off when the year is up and your looking for fresh coat.
Please forgive my ignorance, I'm just now learning all about Ceramic wax products. How is this product different than a regular wax, like Carnuba or NXT? Is the goal of this product just to have a good water bead affect? ty!
I love meguires products , all I buy other then the soap I use chemical guys for my foam gun. My question is after you wash and decon your car to start from scratch ,you compound for swirls , polish for shine , then wax for protection can you apply this after all those steps as a final ceramic coat ?
Is there any coatings where the water beads don’t stick to the panel. I feel like if you use a leaf blower all the water should just slide right off not stick.
Hi Jimbo what hoses do you use with your pressure washers??? I have a 3/8 inch 50 foot 2 wire rubber hose and find it very heavy to move around i also have a PVC hose which is much lighter but it kinks everywhere and coils up when i move around the car and i end tripping over it. Im looking for a light non kink rubber hose if one exists that is
I have the 3/8 double like you do. After a while you learn to work with it. It can be heavy but you want something tough because the hose is constantly rubbing on the rough ground. So anything less won’t last long
Hybrid paint coating Vs fast finish vs sonax polymer net shield durability. So they completely abandoned the M788 coating ?! 😢, too bad he looked promising!
Would be good to know if these consumer level coatings really compare to the Opti-Coat and other pro coatings detailing shops offer. In Opti-Coat's case, they claim to harden and thicken the paint's clear coat layer (do any of the consumer products do this?).

Would love to see the Xtreme Solutions Poly Seal. I think you might be surprised just how damn good this stuff is. It’s got slickness that is out of this world and not to mention very good gloss and superior beading. It’s the only product I use on my ceramic pro Camaro ZL1. Please do a 1 on 1 review. Oh by the way it last 9 months, smells great and goes on easy and buffs off easy as well.
@Charles Hernandez Charles thanks for your response as it validates my claims...you’re right the other spray coatings don’t have a chance!!! Believe me I have tried most of them and Poly Seal from Xtreme is the very best!!!!!
@Charles Hernandez it may be just another Cooke cutter product but imho it’s the very best. I will admit because my car is already ceramic coated it may work differently on a untreated surface BUT with proper prep I still believe this Cooke cutter sealant is one of the very best on the market. It’s shine, slickness, tight beads and 9 months durability is what makes it stand out from all the other competitors.

Had a bunch of holograms in that hood. Paint correction steps were missed. Also, 2nd coat has to be applied within 1 hr. You waited 24 hrs. Lastly, it was applied indoors apparently, but your jacket tells that the temps must have been on the low side of 60 degrees. Not ideal for this application. Don't think you gave this product the ideal curing conditions for a true test.
Way too expensive! For $50? Sorry, I can’t see spending that much for a small bottle of prep sprayer, bottle of paint protector, applicator pad ($1) and a microfiber towel ($2). Too many good products at a cheaper price now.
