    I got subscribed sertraline in January this year. The day I got subscribed sertraline I obviously went to UA-cam to see what are peoples experiences wear with it, and I came across your channel. I’ve cut out alcohol completely and exercise on a daily basis. By doing these two things with the sertraline have made a massive effect on my mental health. Keep it up you’re channel was a great help, knowing that I’m not the only person going through this.

      Thank you Mike! I am so glad you are progressing well, and don't feel like you are on your own. I find it so therapeutic to talk to everyone, particularly at the moment when social activity is so limited. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment.

    Just had 'the conversation' with my GP .. difficult to say the least. 3 years ago, l had my first 'chemical imbalance' experience, which l describe as a full blown mind hijack - the old felt gone. With some therapy, l got myself back on track but unfortunately it has returned in much the same way. The decision to give Setraline a go, is maybe one the hardest decisions l've ever made ; especially as l work in the field of mental health. Iam afraid. I was always the funny one, the strong one and in some way l feel like l've failed. I know it'll take time to quash that stigma. I want to thank you for your videos, they really have put some things into perspective!

      Thank you for your kind words and I hope this sees the start of your recovery. Be patient with yourself. I get the feeling of failure but I am so hopeful that you work past that and start to find yourself again.

    I'm taking sertraline for anxiety, I started on 25mg and after 8 days started feeling really good, at that time my doc put me up to 50mg and I just felt more and more anxious each day, I was aware this was a possible side effect so tried to tough it out but after 2 weeks on 50mg the anxiety had reached panic attack levels it just felt wrong so I put myself back down to 25mg and immediately I started feeling better again, I told my doc and he told me to stay on 25mg and see how things go, that was over 2 weeks ago now and I'm feeling pretty good, anxiety levels are low.
    I've read lots of info saying 25mg isn't much use for anything, but it seems to be working for me and I don't intend to try another increase in dose anytime soon.
    Another thing is so far after nearly 6 weeks total on sertraline I'm not experiencing any negative sexual side effects, actually the opposite, when I'm feeling very anxious all the time I have absolutely no libido sex is the last thing on my mind, now I'm not feeling so anxious I can feel my libido increasing.

    Who has three weeks to sit at home away from work puking, shitting, shaking with splitting headaches and anxiety? Fuck that. I can't do that. Guess I'm doomed to live with this garbage between my ears the rest of my life (however long I decide that will be).
    By the way, exercise doesn't do SHIT. I do 30-40 minutes of strenuous cardio 5 mornings a week religiously and I'm still a fucking mess. Does absolutely nothing and in fact, it makes my anxiety WORSE because I'm always worried about going there and ruining my joints.
    I know I'm going to end it all one day. Might not be soon but it will be by my own hand. It's my life, my decision. I'm tired of the atrocities I see in this fucking world.

    Did you (before medication) feel like your brain was not working; then you were able to think better & hear yourself think?

    • @AlexRobbMentalHealth

      Yes! I was a mess before. When I first started taking, I had a couple of weeks of brain fog but once that lifted I am in a different place mentally.

    hi, ive just been prescribed zolaft for anxiety and depression. i am an extreme hypochondriac and am really worried and concerned about dealing with the side effects that might come along with starting my medication. i haven’t been able to get myself to start, I want to though. any advice?

    • @AlexRobbMentalHealth
      @AlexRobbMentalHealth  4 роки тому +4

      Hi, don't worry I was terrified to begin too. Hypochondria is abnormal anxiety but given you are going to take something with proven side effects I would allow yourself to feel anxious about it rather than hold a burden that what you are feeling is abnormal. Does that make sense? The first couple of weeks could be rough but at least you know its the medication rather than some devastating illness. This might help rationalise some of the fears you have.
      I made a video that addresses being to scared to start:

      I hope it is useful!

      A Happy Change - Adventures in Mental Health I will try it for another week, but Wellbutrin (Buproprion) definitely increases my sex drive by a lot and improved my ADHD a bit. The only problem with buproprion is increase in blood pressure. That and the side effects of buproprion take much longer to cease after stopping the medication. There is no perfect pill.
