Love your video man thanks for the honesty. I realize this bike isn’t comfortable for long trips exceeding 30 min but like you and many others said it’s great for getting around town like the gym, store, work ect. 51 MPG isn’t bad at all figuring it’s a 4 gallon tank giving you 206 miles at full to empty. That’d run you around $10 a fill up depending on your local gas prices.
Yeah I think if this was tuned a little better it would definitely do way better. You have to consider that Kawasaki and other major brands probably spend more time tuning than a $2000 Chinese manufactured Honda replica motorcycle.
The stock odometer it came with was actually in kilometers and since the speedometer was off by 5 mile per hour or so then the odometer is off. I since changed mine out with a digital gauge and a new sensor that can be calibrated to the wheel size. I have it really close and it is more accurate than before. Coincidentally the 2019 version comes with the new digital gauge that is the same as my new one. Theirs has a working RPM tach though.
51 mpg is kind of awful. My CTX700 avg mpg is 70. I think it's because the little bike is constantly in the upper rpm. I think your mpg could improve by short shifting and allowing the motor to come up to speed but there's no fun in that. I was thinking of buying this as a cheap commuter since I just sold my CTX and my Harley gets about 45mpg. Also considering the ssr buccaneer. Probably will wind up buying the Royal Enfield Himalayan for a couple thousand more and a confirmed 85mpg. I do dig cool little bikes though and it doesn't really matter what you ride it just matters that you do.
50 mpg US is pretty terrible. Especially if you're averaging 45mph. That means either the motor is running rich or the compression on your particular bike is poor with a lot of blowby. My Fiesta 1.6l car gets 42 at 70mph steady. My 12 year old Nighthawk (similar cc but 45k mi) gets 90 to 95 at those backroad speeds...even in steep mountains. Averages 80mpg at a steady 65mph on 4 lane hwys. However you use the bike so little, mpg probably doesn't matter. Still, I say it is the right bike for a very light occasional user instead of a $5000 to $6000 350.
50 mpg is not good at all. My Honda CB500X gets 68 mpg riding at a steady 60 mph. I presume this burns more because the rpm's are too high. You need to get +2 front and -2 rea sprockets on this bike IF you ride alone for far better mileage. If you ride 2 up? You have to leave them as is since the engine/transmission/clutch may not be able to handle the load at lower rpm. With that setup, I'm thinking you should get at LEAST 70 mpg at a steady 60 mph...
Almost any motorcycle can wheelie if you're brave enough. I haven't really tried it on this one though because it doesn't have a whole lot of power even though it is a 250, but it's wheel base is longer than something like a grom. Next time I get to ride I'll try it out and get back to you. It's been raining a lot here.
Nice. How do you like it so far? amzn.to/2MhS2DK this is the link to where I bought the phone mount. It works pretty well and I’m not worried that my phone might fall off either.
I’ve got 1000 miles on mine. Runs great still, impressed with the quality. Had to use the warrantee twice, 1) petcock leak, super easy fix 2) headlight halo went out Csc was very good about both, still love the bike.
@@rocketkinger2506 I ended up getting one within a day or two of leaving that comment. It was an awesome bike, I racked up nearly 1400 miles on it over the month I owned it. Definitely does it's job. I actually just sold it and bought myself a 650 yesterday. I loved the sg250 though, that little bike helped me gain so much confidence
Nice! I probably get more mileage now that it’s broken in. Also I was pretty much riding at max speed the entire way. I notice it is a little quicker now too. How do you like the TT?
I get it’s a $2000 bike but man, 87 octane? What’s 30 extra cents when you only buy a gallon? Good video though. Try premium and see if you get better mileage.
You'd probably be throwing money away putting higher octane on a vehicle that requires 87 octane. If it requires 87, then put 87 but you can't and wouldn't recommend doing the opposite on a vehicle that requires 91. It will run like crap and possibly damage the engine.
These engines are designed to run on garbage gas for the most part. It’s a “world design” engine. They don’t just sell premium on every corner out in the middle of nowhere Tibet
you ever take it off any sweet jumps?
Once I come across something sweet to jump I will.

What if you just changed the seat?
My old KLR 650 would get 50 plus mpg and it was pretty comfortable. 250 should get at least 60 mpg,I would think.

Hey man, can you do a night ride video I would like to see how well the lights work in really dark roads, thanks .
how accurate is the odometer I've heard the speedometer is off I'm thinking of buying an sg 250 thanks for the mpg review.

I ride a 700cc honda 6 speed consistent 65mpg the motor smooth as a Singer sewing machine.

You need some bar end weights. It will help reduce vibration in the handlebars.
Yes I'll have to test a few out to see what works best.
Lube up a length of garden hose and snake it through. Goodbye vibrations
@@bfarm44 ?
Try using an airhawk seat cushion, it works well.
thanks
Hey dude! I'm from Mobile as well, getting the CSC SG250 as soon as I sell my boat.
Awesome! hit me up when you do and we'll go riding.
Try the heaviest bar ends to smooth out the handlebars.
We have Battleship Cove here in Fall River, MA, where the USS Massachusetts is docked. Super cool to see something similar down your way!
I don't think I say it, but the battleship here is the USS Alabama
T-shirts at 58 subscribers... Ambitious, man. I'll sub
Haha Thanks for the sub.
Sounds like you had to replace the spedo. Is there anything else you changed besides the bars?
Im thinking the low price + new spedo +what else?
Nice video. Love your bike; it's really bad ass looking. I'm hoping to get one, one day.
Hi MOTOVLO where did you get the the headlight, can I have the link? Thanks!!!

Are the left and right side mirrors a custom accessory or is this available straight from the factory.

I took a serious interest in this bike recently. My only concern is, can it do wheelies? I would like to learn them

Just picked up this motorcycle. What phone mount is that?

Heyo! Appreciate the video. Just wondering, after all this time - how many miles have you racked up on your SG250 so far? Any specific notes on it?

My TT250 Gets like 70 mpg, and fastest i have gotten it is also around 72 downhill

What's the top speed
Great video thanks
I don't know why a 250cc bike is being compared to cruisers. Obviously it's not comfortable as a cruiser.
Great video. What size tank?
4 gallons
Not good gas mileage.
You live in Mobile Alabama
Yeah, you live near here too?
Get new exhaust!

You don't really know what octane ratings mean, do you....? Save yourself the money and just buy what's recommended for your engine.
More octane requires more timing advance or you can actually lose some horsepower. You can see it on a dyno.
These engines are designed to run on garbage gas for the most part. It’s a “world design” engine. They don’t just sell premium on every corner out in the middle of nowhere Tibet
Really gotta be that cheap and put 87 in? lol
91 doesn't make more power unless you have more timing advance.
