- Last year EOTech started offering their own line of night vision and thermal imaging devices, and this year they are introducing their first ever Laser Aiming Module: the OGL or "On-Gun-Laser." The OGL is a relatively compact and lightweight multifunction aiming laser, with a VCSEL infrared illuminator, and coaligned IR laser designator and visible laser.

I suppose the civilian version won’t make it to market until 2024 if the standard is Q4. However it is very competitive at $2k considering the only other vcsel lasers in the civilian market are the MAWL C1 at $3.6K and Wilcox Raid Xe Civ at $3.5. That’s a damn good deal.

@@scopeseye the company could be doing things to combat this. I know multiple firearms related companies will not sell items to Leo in an area where civilians can't own the same thing.
@@dominickscheuringer9553 yeah in states where's there's bans. The FDA regulation on laser power is federal meaning they would have to refuse to sell to any mil/le in the US by your logic.

It's not cheap, but it's still cheaper than a MAWL and may have similar performance. Is it enough extra performance though to justify the cost over what Hop deemed the best for the money LAM, the Steiner DBAL D2? Guess we will have to see, but it looks promising.
The D2 is like mounting a microwave on the front of your rifle. It is a NO GO for me, regardless of price point. This model, the Mawl C3 or the Phantom Hill CFT2 would be my only choices in a very underwhelming marketplace
I love the D2 but it's chunky. Using a somo gear for now till better option arrive that drives me away from just dropping 2k on a FP peq15
@@Archangel0804 The D2 is insanely large, but you get good illumination for the money. Obviously the MAWL is better, but it should be for 2 times or more the price of a D2.
The phantom hill is also a good budget option. However the Illuminati head options don’t have the same focus power as the D2.
@@brandonschwertley2723 I haven't seen or used the CTF, but it appears to be a very close rival to the D2 for illumination with the BE Meyers KIJI, yet more ergonomic controls and additionally weighing in significantly less since you no longer have the need for a standalone white light. The D2 is a NO GO, at least for me

That should really have been W for Wide and N for Narrow instead of Flood and Spot - firstly because in my mind F and S would be Focus and Search, and secondly because even their own guy forgot what the S was for!

Not defending EOTECH, but Inflation and supply chain issues have changed more than a bit since that podcast last year, and we're still almost a year off if Q4 is the LE/MIL release.
Inflation? That was posted 3 weeks ago. He said January launch and $1200. 1500 for FP. So if the fp is 2100 we can expect the LP to be around 1700. Which is right there with the dbal and doesn't have an illuminator that's the size of 2 stacked D batteries. I'd pay 1700 if it has a brightness that rivals the mawl without the substantial glow of the D2
$2199 is not under $2k.
@@alexduke5402 theres no reason for them to sell it that low in this shitty of a market. those are probably the distributor prices. Even at 2k if it beats or competes with the RAID or MAWL its still probably the best laser on the market per dollar. Not defending it, but even with that big of a markup they’re gonna be selling shit loads of those things.
Wish more companies would take a stand on anti-2A tyranny and stop marketing/selling to feds and LE and focus more on civilian products.

Idk your personal circumstances, but a lot of people who say this kind of thing could buy NV if they really desired it and budgeted appropriately.

Going after the ATPIAL with a product that seems to take up just as much of a footprint despite the sales pitch, is only half an ounce lighter than the ATPIAL and is $600 more than the ATPIAL. Neat. It's a bold strategy, Cotton.
If you have ever used an ATPIAL, you know it is hot neutered garbage. Any vcsel laser is a huge improvement. The OGL also has a superior form factor and controls.

@@Rvckus I too have an ATPIAL. I also have a Steiner DBAL-D2 and CQBL-1 and a couple Surefire X400 and m600 vampire lights. I've used Mawls and assorted other lasers.
The big issue is the illuminator is very weak. The civi version is capped at 5mw by using a diffuser lens. It has very limited range to go with its weak power. On top of that, the side emitting diode they use causes an very dirty image with lots of splotches and artifacts, so what little illumination you get isn't an even or consistent beam.
VCSEL lasers provide substantially better illumination and a much cleaner beam. The slider on top for focusing the beam is also very nice.
Most of the ir illuminators that I use are LED based. They may have a visual signature, but they have tons of output power. My D2 illuminates handily beyond 1000yds with a very clean beam.

LE pricing should be after a minimum number of civilian orders have been filled in the LE jurisdiction, so that the population always has numerical and qualitative superiority. LE should only get the reduced power models unless the citizenry sign off on them getting higher power Laser.
Because that's the idea. It's a feature, not a bug.
EOTech isn’t responsible for the fact that sale of lasers to civilians is regulated by the FDA.

I have no real evidence to support this, I'm just assuming that because it's funner that way
I anticipate a cheaper option hitting the market from another company before the civy version hits the market. Any takers?

BinoNVs along with a MAWL is all you need. I just upgraded my aging PVS14 and PEQ15 since who knows how long my PEQ15 will last since it's very old.
You could buy this and a used PVS 14 for the cost of a MAWL, homie.
Just say the MAWL is all you personally need. No need to presume for everyone else.
@@squirreltakular9049 True, but the closet thing to a PEQ15 in my opinion is the MAWL. I used the PVS14+ PEQ15 as a rifleman for 6years in my beloved Corps and 6 years after. I know that system like the back of hand. Yes that included using it in kill houses, actual CQB in Iraqi and Afghanistan, using it to land helos, and mark targets for gunships and warplanes. Used it for silent communication, night recon. I don't claim to know everything, but this is one area I do understand well from a practical side. I am keeping my PVS14+PEQ15 until it breaks, I wasn't planning on selling it. But for obvious reasons if I send my PEQ15 in for repairs when that time comes, I doubt I'll ever see it again.
@@terrarecon How's this, if practical you should go with a MAWL. The PEQ15 and MAWL have the near identical visible IR light signature. While all other forms of civis NVGs have this giant signature that trained individuals can discern and detect.
