When the world was investing in technology and companies were making new contract based on (mainly) through influence of diaspora of different countrymen, Pakistani literate professionals could not play any significant role of scoring tech based projects and business to keep up with the pace of changing south asian economies. I think that, apart from country's local political and governance issues, this is one of the big reasons that why #pakistani economy could't flourish over last 2 decades.

Similar things also had impacts on the Indian economy during 1991, when the government of India launched a bond scheme where NRIs were invested in the Indian economy and the government used those funds to scale up again. Even though I am from India and India, I wish Pakistan could recover from this.
