That's what I call a tech excellence video! You have saved me a lot of video editing time while I only wanted to move a still photo from left to right! Thanks and keep up the good work! 😃
Nice trick to stop the image from attaching to the background! I probably never would've thought about that. I wish Canva would give an option to snap or not for full image sizes.
This is an excellent video and thank you so much for keeping it short and to the point. You even covered the Canva bug that often requires re-applying the setting to all pages. Note that the process of duplicating the picture, shrinking it, making it transparent, grouping, etc. is not really needed - you can just right click and detach the image from the background and it won't snap in place. It's much simpler that way, especially if you're doing it for multiple images. One thing I cannot figure out is why my transition time gets reduced with my image time. I wanted a video-like appearance so that I'm not looking at a static image for very long and I set the images to display for 0.5 seconds. However, instead of nice, slow 2 second Match and Move transitions, they are all reduced to 0.3 seconds now. If there is a way around that, let me know!
you can always change the time of each page to make them longer... if you started your design in a static design space (example: IG post) then at the bottom there is a button called duration, click on that to show the pages with time and change the seconds to what you want from there ( if that makes sense)
So the photo doesnt automatically snap to the background... it puts an element between the photo your moving and the background to keep the image from attaching
thank you so much for sharing this - such a lifesaver when I hit a project deadline! Been only seeing random useless videos until I found this! Thanks a bunch!!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial!! I just have a little doubt. Is it really necessary to make the smallest copy of the photo and then applying transparency? It affects the result? thank you so much again!
wait, can it work for videos?? for some reason when I try for videos it mostly just fades to the closer image. Is there any different method for that? 😁
I got the desire output (Zoom effect) by you method, thanks for that but I don't understand why you dublicate the image, decrease size, set transparency to zero and group them. what is the purpose of that, I do not do that but still got the same zoom effect?
Could you explain the first part more? You made a dup then made it small out it behind and made it transparent. The you held control and did what in the position? This was to keep it from snapping to the full page when moving? Please explain this further.
I hit the control key while in the layers tab to highlight the other image to group them together (if that makes sense) you can use the control key in the layers tab to highlight elements, text and photos to group them easier
when using an image in Canva... sometimes (a lot of times)... the image will automatically attach to the background... by putting something behind it... that will keep it from attaching leaving the image to be freely moved around
I have no words to express gratitude, Thanks a lot! See if you can help, I make screen recorsing tutorials and would like to place the recording on a laptop frame/mockup and zoom into diferent areas of the laptop frame to show different areas of the screen, any suggestions, Thanks in Advance, ❤
Many thanks, this is a huge help! Among hundreds of nonsensical video on 'zoom', this is the real gem!
awww... thank you so much for the wonderful compliment
Wow. I have been searching for over a month to figure out how to do this!! Thank you ;)
you are very welcome 😁
This is exactly what I was looking for! I was about to use the custom animation feature to do this. This is far simpler. Thank you!
awesome... glad it helped you out!!!

Thank you for much. I actually learn based on understand. Why did you make the duplicate of the painting small and transparent?
So the photo doesnt automatically snap to the background... it puts an element between the photo your moving and the background to keep the image from attaching
Finally!!! This is one of the effects that I was looking for. Thx!!!!🙏
awesome to hear!!!! you are very welcome

Great vidio, you demonstrated the meaning of Simplicity. 😊
awwww... thank you so much
Hey Michelle, thank you! SO easy when you get shown!
you are so welcome... glad it could help you 😊
Canva needs to create pan and zoom presets, this is way too much work and defeats the purpose of using Canva.
that would be amazing to have
Yeah
Thank you for sharing your canva editing tips and tricks, really helps out
you are very welcome
Thank you so much for this tutorial!! I just have a little doubt. Is it really necessary to make the smallest copy of the photo and then applying transparency? It affects the result? thank you so much again!
you are very welcome.... the reason to do that is so that the photo doesnt automatically attach to the background (which it will tend to do)
Thanks for this helpful video. It helped me a lot.
Exactly what I was looking for.
Best wishes to you.
that makes me so happy to hear ❤️
I just wanted to say thank you! This was so unbelievably helpful to a newbie. I can't say thank you enough. ❤❤❤

Amazing video .... And this is useful feature..... canva is just destroying every one😂. Such a helpful feature

it does need more options for these kinds of effects
You are very clever. Thank you.

it is a work around to keep the image you are zooming from automatically attaching to the background (which is a pain)
Well explained. Thanks
you are very welcome.... glad it could help
Followed the directions, but my video is not auto-playing. Do I have to purchase a plugin or additional module of some sort?
do you have it in video format?
Could you explain the first part more?
You made a dup then made it small out it behind and made it transparent.
The you held control and did what in the position?

@@digitalartwithcanva ok thanks that makes sense. But why did you need two images?
@@anthonyrude to keep a photo from snapping to the background you can put something behind it to keep it from automatically snapping (which is a pain)
@@digitalartwithcanva ok so its only for that. So you use the image "on top" to do all the "zooming"
@@anthonyrude yes 🙂
thank you sooo.... much ♥
you are very welcome
Amazing THANK YOU!!
you are very welcome 😊
How hard the simplest of editing features can be?
Canva team: Yes.
lol

What is the purpose of the transparent image in the back?
when using an image in Canva... sometimes (a lot of times)... the image will automatically attach to the background... by putting something behind it... that will keep it from attaching leaving the image to be freely moved around
@@digitalartwithcanvathanks!
Very nice
thank you
thank you so muchh :)

do you know if something like this is possible in a presentation? Like zoom to zoom in to the sky and then type your text there?
yes... the same transition is in presentation... you can use it there
@@digitalartwithcanva thank you!
@@Gijsver you are so welcome
Ok I have done everything but it is not panning from slide to slide- I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong!
did you apply the match and move transition between the pages?
when I use the match and move animation it fades in the beginning and in the end instead of moving does anyone know how to fix this ?
do you have an animation on it by accident?
I NEED MORE OF THIS IN MY LIFE!!! THANK YOU!!!
OMG... what a cute profile pic!!!!.... I am glad it was helpful
