In a bizarre way his promos are protected. They make sure to only have him let loose on the mic every once in a while, and to make it count. Especially considering how unique his promos are.
The best thing about this is Orange Cassidy broke character by ADDING character. Its not that he doesn't talk, its that he just doesn't want to talk. He's might be lazy BUT he's extremely well educated. By going from what you "think" is the character, he's actually added onto the character and I think thats brillant.

Orange Cassidy has "it" and will continue to rise as a prominent star in the industry. AEW didn't know what they had when they signed him and are only just starting to tap this guy's potential.

AEW has potential, something NXT lacks. NXT is good but we know, NXT is NXT. It has a bar to it just like main roster. WWE has been so sport-entertainment-ized that it's hard for them to hold a fictionally consistent pro wrestling narrative. They are just bunch of fake fighters who have larger than life "nicknames, different monikers and merchandises. Not characters. So you take the most dividing thing between other sports and pro wrestling and leave it only with the difference that it's fake, it loses its appeal. Many people watched WWF- Ruthless Aggression Era because even though it was fake, the product did have a fictional narrative. Not that hard to understand. NXT falls under the same problem. Even though they have a consistent narrative they're also not different than main roster. They cannot dare to try totally fictional wrestling characters. After every great match wrestlers come out and brag about how show stealing it was. Like, what? I understand when you put it over as a competitive battle with tons of chemistry but when you add the entertainment part I can't help but get annoyed. So you're basically agreeing that your job as wrestler is to perform and entertain, not wrestle and win matches?
AEW on the other, had a narrative. They have BTE that have it's own strong consistent fanbase of 300k maximum, where they build characters further and have fun. Add in 2 hours of Dynamite where I don't think a single meaningless match have happened. Since last year they have been consistently pushing Moxley, Cassidy, Hangman and Darby All-in while the main event faces also have been variably same. What makes them feel so different than WWE's rich roster? Not their wrestling skills, but their characters and the stories they're in. So even when they brag about their matches, it isn't that much of a big deal.
They did know him, that's why he signed and he's the reason why I enjoy the AEW so much

@@krosskross1221 The only bad thing about AEW is the Women's Division. That's about it. Everything else is phenomenal. But I think the main reason why WWE is losing viewers is because they rely on their part timers more than they rely on their full timers. The reason why I stopped watching WWE was because RAW didn't have a fighting champion *cough cough,* Brock Lesnar. They don't care about quality, they care about quantity and clicks. Why did they bury Kofi in 6 seconds? Because they wanted clicks and views. WWE has essentially become UA-cam clickbait. They are toxic and boring as hell to watch.

Here’s my wrong opinion: why not? He’s entertaining as hell, he’s got a great gimmick, a good enough move set and he’s even got the look, what’s to doubt about him having a chance of becoming the face of AEW?
A Lakonophile he makes pro wrestling looks bad? It’s literally all scripted and every wrestling fan knows this, what’s amazing about it is he’s fully aware most fans are onto the fact that wrestling is fake, so he makes a gimmick that in my opinion is outright amazing, he pretends to wrestle. It’s simple in execution but GENIUS on paper, all orange is doing is literally just making the show more entertaining by doing why the other wrestlers already do but in great exaggeration. Which is why fans like me find him so endearing because all those wrestlers you named were cool and all but they all did the same thing. “I’m a big manly dude who’ll kick a bad guys ass” I’ve seen that 1000 time already, he’ll to this day WWE is still tryna do that with Roman reigns, you think he makes wrestling entertaining? Orange is a truly fresh breath of air and the fact fans like you can’t appreciate that is really sad.
A Lakonophile that isn’t the point I’m tryna to make at all and comparing movies to wrestling really doesn’t work, it’s more relatable to broadway shows or theatre, and I can’t make you like him. But you are missing the biggest fact that he’s not even remotely making wrestling a joke, he’s making it more entertaining in a believable yet funny way and actually does know how to wrestle when he really has too. I don’t get how you view him as a joke after that Jericho match, he took it fully serious and did amazing. Honestly if you hate orange so much you probably hate Eddie Guerrero too, look at his numerous funny clips on UA-cam. His “lie cheat and steal” gimmick was extremely cheesy and extremely relatable to oranges gimmick, yet he’s called one of the greatest of all times and is greatly respected by wrestling fans, he even has close to the same build as orange and definitely height.
A Lakonophile theatre on a stage and theatre on a screen or 2 COMPLETELY different things, and yes I am comparing him to Eddie, what’s the difference? They both mock their opponents in funny and endearing ways, both use in ring environments to win. Both have more comedic than serious moments ( granted Eddie has a few more serious sides but still) and both are super athletic and know how to move around the ring in entertaining fashion. How could you not compare them? And you still have yet to site and real criticism against orange, why do you hate his comedy gimmick so much? Why is he not “man enough” you also ignored my many points of him getting serious, you didn’t even mention his Jericho match that alone disproves majority of your points.

I mean, we don't even need to talk about how good and what a mind for pro wrestling Jericho has, but holy hell, can we speak about Orange Cassidy here? The guy can actually also cut a promo. And the funny thing....it doesn't feel forced. It feels very...well...Orange Cassidy. The tone of his voice is bored most of the times, but at moments his true intentions and passion come exploding out. Just like his offense in the ring. The guy is a genius. You literally can't compare him to anyone else in this business. His character and style are unique. And the whole idea that he's not gonna try most of the times makes you hungry for the times he will. Like this one. It's like he's there, but he remains a special attraction anyway, because he's not gonna show how good he truly is often. And only a guy with this gimmick can do that. I hope this match gets a huge rating, because it sure as hell deserves it. Can't wait to see it.
Best well written response about OC so far! Yes he's a very much-needed, unique personality in wrestling. Not only that but he's also sexy AF which means the ladies are gonna be drawn to him. I'll go even further than what you wrote and proclaim him as a future big-money main eventer. Get him in there against Moxley or MJF and watch sparks fly. If he ever wrestles for and wins their world title, I think a stadium show would be fitting for it. Wrestling fans would flock from miles away to see that moment in person and to prove the haters wrong. Of course that's if COVID can ever under control soon. But OC is a draw!
