I went to a pastor's conference in 1986. The keynote speak for this 3 day event, was a guy by the name of David Wilkerson. Where this man gazed you could feel like a magnification of the manifest presence of GOD. When he finished, there were about 500 pastors on the floor in front of the platform. They were not slain. They were there voluntarily. They were weeping and repenting. No hocus pocus. Just preaching against sin with great anointing. You just never forget something like that. :)

There's a you tube video with David Wilkerson on Weird manifestations. He was preaching against it. He was so hurt by people doing these things. He said they were making the Holy Spirit look like a fool.

@@KENBORDEN1 I’ll try to find the video. I remember hearing a pastor tell stories about things that happened in the church like a man being picked up and thrown from his seat, or the pianist deciding to jump up and shout the piano kept playing. I didn’t witness these things. Just heard the stories and we were told it was the Holy Spirit. I believed those stories in my 20s but now know that it was demons.
I think we were also being groomed to expect weird things/manifestations. There was very little preaching going on during these times. Mostly just anticipation of what the “Holy Ghost” was going to do. Everyone just anticipated the alter service. Not an alter call for repentance. That’s when things happened.
What is your take on alter calls?
I had one pastor who refused to give an alter call for repentance. One Christmas I did a powerful Christmas play and the end was a great time to call people to repentance. I had asked the pastor ahead of time to NOT call EVERYONE to come up front like he always did but to give an alter call for repentance only. The convicting power was there. I think people may have gotten saved. But he called the whole congregation up front which then the conviction left the building. I never went back after that. He didn’t want the convicting spirit in the room because he was living in sin and he couldn’t handle it I later found out. So sad. He never once that I can remember preached on sin. He was Cog but preached WOF which I had no idea what that was. He brainwashed the congregation by preaching the same sermons over and over and over every week until we accepted it as truth.

This reminds me of my own experience in the charismatic movement. I went to this Holy Spirit event may be 6 or 7 years ago. I remember there was a Saturday night service to get filled with the Holy Spirit! I was with my friends and our seminary professors were the ones laying their hands on us and praying for us to get filled. So we were all eager to get prayed for. But I remember that two of my profs were praying for my friend who was standing next to me. she was jerking and making some noise and crying! And my profs were saying “more Holy Spirit more!” and I was watching what was happening to her and waiting for them to lay their hands on me. Well, they passed over me and went to other people and prayed for them! Well, that was the worst night of my life! I felt like the Holy Spirit ignored me! I cried the whole night asking God why my profs didn't pray for me and why He didn't touch me that night! I thought God was withholding His Holy Spirit from me! I was emotionally and spiritually immature! I didn't have a solid understanding of the word of God. I was so deceived and vulnerable! Now I thank God that my profs didn't pray for me that night😀I don't know what kind of spirit I would have trafficked!

oh, wow! How could this happen? Why do people question anything that happens? I am one fruit from the Revival. Born and Raised in Italy, got saved at the age of 20, left everything to be a missionary. I started to watch videotapes of the revival while I was a missionary in Italy, in a tent ministry. I would be touched by the power of God, and few years later I got to visit the Pensacola Revival. Every night we were in church, EVERY NIGHT, for a month, i went to church, and 6-8 hours in the presence of God were like 5 minutes. Think, for a month..... Imagine the 4 years those people had spent in that building singing for 2 hours, preaching and teaching, and praying for hours. People did not want to leave the building..... Outside, people would be waiting for a long time in line to enter the building.....I finally became a student of the School of ministry that was there. And besides the night services, we had school everyday..... no man can do this without the power of God. There was a sincere move of the Spirit, preaching on repentance, real men of God, dedicated, Bible lovers, and Presence seekers. Rrother, whoever you are, you have zero discernment... sorry, I must be blunt.... God has surely changed me, and many many people I know through that revival.

Having grown up in the AOG, we all sought more of Jesus. Revival meant more emotional experiences not a return to Biblical truth and the Gospel. Notice the use of the repetitive music as well.

The music is to put people in a trance. Satan knows the Bible too and in the New Testament we are warned over and over again about lying signs and wonders. Look at what Paul says in 1 Crrinthians 14 verses 22 to 39 and Matthew 7 verses 22 and 23. Last but not least 1 Peter 4 verses 17 & 18 where it says God is co ming in judgment to His house first and then the world. Take a look at a video by JEREMIAH COHEN titled THE MOCKING SPIRIT INVADING THE CHURCH. I recall on another video a certain Pastor Scotland in Canada singing with sunglasses on and a black stetson. I shot the sherrifff but did not shoot the deputy. He then turns to gesture at a closed Bible and says You want me to me from that old thing I suppose. He called the Bible old thing and when heopens it he crows like a chicken for 20 seconds and then shuts it. Was that under the anointing? Think not.

Red Rock mama, yes I would agree with you on that I don't think this was a hoax I believe that this was genuine.
And the reason why I'm saying that is because I experienced the same thing at my other Church in Chicago which was about 40 years ago. A man by the name of Rodney Howard Brown came to our church and for the next four to five weeks strange supernatural things were happening around the church people crying people laughing people experiencing the power the presence of the holy Spirit.
People were literally freezing in place like statues. It was a crazy time to remember.
At first I was very skeptical about all of this but then when Rodney Howard Brown came down the aisle I was sitting in the very back of the church.
And what he started to head towards me I got out of my seat and I stood in the aisle in front of him.
He said brother be filled with the presence and the power of God.
When he put his hand on my head my body became limp like a rag doll and the power just went through me like a surge of electricity I became powerless like somebody turned me off like a TV set.
I felt Joy unspeakable joy and the laughter started rolling from my lips.
It was like being touched from heaven.
      It was a wonderful experience.
But then I was hearing that the same kind of thing that was happening in other countries but in other Eastern religions they called it the snake the kondolini spirit or the fake holy Spirit or something impersonating the holy Spirit.
I thought I would just share that with you.
Because we have to be careful with our physical and emotional state that we don't become deceived by the spirit but that we first put our trust and faith in the word of God the Bible and nothing else.

Back in the early1980s a friend of mine was going to a Charismatic church. He was very close to the pastor there. He asked me to attend one Sunday meeting because the pastor was going to try to pull something over the congregation. He told me the pastor was going to make vague references to "something more". He also told me someone in the congregation was going to give a message in tongues and the interpretation would be more vague references to this something more. Well, I went and all that he told me took place. It turned out that the something more was Mormonism. The preacher had become convinced that the Book of Mormon was a true revelation and was going to introduce it to that church bit by bit. Not too long after that the church fell apart. It disbanded and the preacher moved to another state. It just goes to show you that this kind of stuff has been out there for quite a while and there are all kinds of weirdness that Charismatics can come up with.

Just wondering how he knew it was Jesus we dont know what he looks like, also we r told try the spirits and make sure there of God, you just assumed because he was suicidal and he said he saw Jesus it was from the Lord, counselors have stopped people from committing suicide as well so that doesnt prove it was God you also said he was "slain" fell down if you notice in scripture when people encountered the Lord in worship they never fell backwards, they bowed down and worshipped but when the pharisees came to arrest Jesus they fell backwards!....I will say God is merciful sometimes when we dont know better, and gives us time to come out from false teaching I had been involved in these manifestations many years ago and at tent revivals churches etc...I even remember one time they laid hands on me and I feel backwards and the ushers forgot to catch me and I hit my head on the concrete floor because we were in a building and there was no carpet and my head crashed to the floor...at the time I thought this was the LORD, I'm older now and The Lord has shown me thru scripture my folly I repented, the Lord is patient with us...I had never read the scripture let no man lay hands on you suddenly, the pastors and evangelists I knew at the time always laid hands and invited speakers to lay hands on the congregation so who knows what demons were manifesting or was being transferred we didnt know these people at all we just " trusted the pastor" instead of trusting the scripture our Safety Net...
It caused damage to my family over the years that God has healed but we paid a dear price for not being good Bereans , you will always be looking for some type of feeling or emotion instead of trusting the bible it's a very dangerous road to continue to travel down.

Went to a small Church of God once about a month after being baptized. The pastor walked around as he was speaking and a couple of times placed his hand on the head of members of the church and said something "in tongues". Then he did the same to me but spoke English. I had previously prayed silently that if this was really the Holy Spirit at work that He would fill me as well, but if not that He would protect me from whatever was going on. About later everyone there - about 25 of us - was "speaking in tongues" except for me, and no one was interpreting anything. Praise the LORD for His protection and grace!

Thanks for the great video Dan and Robin. As I sat and watched this video with my wife I couldn't help but recall the many years I spent as a Pentecostal preacher lying prostrate on the pulpit platform sucking carpet dust begging God for MORE! I was born to Pentecostal parents who were both evangelist and preachers being ordained by A. A Allen. My parents were steeped into the Pentecostal Holiness Movement and groomed me to be the next A.A Allen. They thought I was a "Holy" prodigy and projected their broken dreams of being worldwide healing ministers onto me when their ministry failed. After many years of ministering in the pentecostal and charismatic circles, I began to see a pattern in my life... depression, suicidal tendencies and overwhelming disillusionment. All that my parents had taught me to believe that I was, I realized I wasn't. God in His great mercy delivered me from the lies that I was brain washed to believe about myself AND Him. I now have tasted the living water Jesus promised. Keep up the good work exposing the cults of today. I am living proof that what you are doing makes a difference. Happy Father's Day, bro.

I realize you're frustration the holy spirit is real and I do believe there is speaking of tongues.
Otherwise it wouldn't been mentioned in the book of Romans.
But we have to be careful in this day and age, the Bible says people are going to follow after seducing spirits and give up the word of God over something physical and emotional.
We have to stick to the word of Godand nothing else. I don't know if you ever heard of this it's called the cannellini spirit or the snake the serpent.
I believe that the spirit is trying to impersonate the holy Spirit to deceive the people.
I noticed the spirit is starting to manifest itself in other Eastern religions people are falling under the spell or trance.
The holy spirit is real my brother don't give up on your faith stick to the word of God no matter what and you'll be fine.

I'll tell you a little story, as I was involved with the Assemblies of God around this time...
In 1996, I had broken up with my then-girlfriend (now wife) and had quit attending her Nazarene church. Before going there, I had been attending an AG church, and still considered myself pentecostal in my theology (albeit more moderately). A former AG pastor of mine invited me to come to another AG church in Michigan, where he was serving as an assistant pastor. The lead pastor in that church was close to my age (I was 22) and was a fairly solid pastor overall (think Mike Winger). So I began to attend and become involved.
In winter of that year, the lead pastor expressed interest in visiting Brownsville, as the "revival" services were still happening. So, we sent him down (by that time, the assistant AG pastor who had invited me left the church, taking a call elsewhere). He came back, and was VERY different, in the following ways:
1.) The teaching emphasis was almost completely gone, replaced with experience-driven spirituality. While this pastor as an AG pastor had always embraced charismatic/pentecostal doctrine, it seemed to suddenly be ramped up to an unhealthier extreme. Music portions of the service became longer, more drawn out. FAR more time was spent encouraging (I would almost say "ordering") the congregation to "feel" the Spirit.
2.) The Pastor became very authoritarian in a manner I had never noticed before. I'll give three examples here:
-First, about two Sundays after his return from Brownsville, he was talking about how the Lord was laying things on his heart concerning Sunday worship, and followed this by announcing to the congregation "Don't make any after-church plans on Sunday afternoons." Again, this came across more like an order than a proclamation.
-Second, in his preaching, there was a disturbing degree of "Don't question the pastor" spoken about. It's one thing to declare the authority of the Word of God on the life of a Christian; this all good Christians can agree on. But to shift that to the preacher himself in a manner that comes across as a papal wielding of authority is something quite different. It was as if he understood that people would have some issues with what he was doing, and was trying to shut down any challenges ahead of time.
-Third, the altar calls became nightmares. I remember one in particular: we had already gone quite long into the worship time (about 45 minutes after normal dismissal), and then the pastor decided to have an altar call for people to receive the anointing from God. Nobody came forward. He kept talking and encouraging. Still, nobody came forward. Eventually he began to DEMAND people come forward, and implied that church was not going to be dismissed until people came forward. Finally some people did come forward, but I suspect that they did it simply to get him to end the service. I've always had issues with altar calls anyway (and more so now, as I understand that they're not biblically based at all), but this was a straw that began to crack the camel's back.
The more I researched the Brownsville phenomenon (I don't like calling it a "revival"), the more questions I had. I especially had problems when an Assembly of God pastor came forward with problems about it, and he wrote extensively about what he saw there. I began to listen to others like Hank Hannegraaf and John MacArthur, who were pointing out the Scriptural deficiencies with the phenomenon. One of the major issues that confirmed the problems was when one of the Brownsville pastors basically prophesied that Hank Hannegraaf would somehow be punished by God if he did not stop speaking out against Brownsville, which reminds me of Benny Hinn's "holy ghost machine gun" comment (incidentally, that prophecy never came to pass, verifying that this was not a move of the Holy Spirit).
All that to say that I am now a confessional Lutheran, who can speak from more than one experience I've had concerning the problems with pentecostalism and charismaticism, even though I will concede that there are SOME solid preachers in the movement (when they're not talking about the gifts of the Spirit).
If you're involved in charismaticism or pentecostalism. do yourself a favor and leave. It almost always goes in the direction of things like Benny Hinn and Brownsville.

It caused so many splits in our local churches and district..so much upheaval and allowed a spirit I can't name to enter in. I had to fight crying watching this. Emotions can run strong in the Pentecostal movement and we are taught very early on to not doubt what we see. When we would ask/question, there was always some scripture (most cherry picked) that was used to back it up. When you are a child you expect to get the truth from your church teachers.

What Steve Hill said was a classic example of twisting and manipulating scripture to suit man’s wants, needs and desires.
As an ex charismatic of 23 years. When the Lord opened my eyes, I noticed this happening all the time with all the charismatics I was watching.
    It was mind blowing.
The heat, the emotion, the tingling, the electric feeling, the feeling drunk, I’ve done it all.
It’s all emotional based and going with the flow. Doing what your supposed to do and what everyone else is doing to FEEL God and allow God to have his way. If you didn’t do it you felt like you would miss out or wouldn’t be as spiritual as all the others.
The thing is, Hinduism and other false religions are doing these same things! 🤯
It does not change anything in your life. Yes it makes you feel good and close to God, but seriously, it’s all about emotions and it’s not biblical, so therefore is not bringing you closer to the great I AM but close to a false god.
It’s deception and manipulation in its finest form.
It’s still blows my mind and breaks my heart watching it all still play out and the movement grow 🤦🏻‍♀️😢

Our church could get pretty crazy! People running and falling out, screaming, certain chairs to sit in the get prayed for, and the list goes on. And I had no idea what it was at the time so along with others was brainwashed into some stuff and being the pianist and music director played all the cool songs from Brownsville and other places. But early/mid 2000s I kept feeling like something wasn’t right. Took me a while to completely pull out because I wanted to play music. If demonic spirits are behind these revivals why would they be leading people closer to Jesus? Why would their love for the Lord increase after being touched by the Holy Spirit if that’s not what’s really happening.
Demonic spirits would never lead people into a closer relationship with Jesus. I don’t understand what the enemy gains from it if it is truly him behind it.

I’ve always thought, if we need revival so much, why aren’t we on our faces before God taking in His Word and being in communion with Him? Wouldn’t that revive you if you could truly pray to God and enjoy the fullness of Him through His Word? 2 Peter 1:3…”His divine power has given us EVERYTHING we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us.” That everything doesn’t make we weary for some emotional and fabricated “more” which is actually “less” than the fullness of the Word.

I have a friend who attended Brownsville AG and was there June 18, 1995. She said it was real. The leadership had been praying for revival for 2 years. I asked about Bro Kilpatrick being held down and she said yes; also asked about the “river” (power of Holy Spirit) that flowed across the altar area…yes. She did say that after a period of time…not sure on time frame…that some people began to call it “their revival”. And, yes, David Wilkerson spoke out against such things. In the biography written by his son Gary Wilkerson…who, by the way, said his father would have never consented to a book written about his life while he was alive…said his father wanted habitation not visitation of the Spirit. I believe this revival started out authentic but, man got in the way. To me true revival is not shouting and physical manifestations but, it a stirring of the heart to get closer to Yeshua.
To answer to why they would say they weren’t satisfied. It wasn’t that salvation of lost souls wasn’t enough, they wanted a deeper relationship with Yeshua. I’ve even prayed the same thing myself…longing for more of Yeshua. Please don’t judge what they were saying as wrong. Bro Kilpatrick was hungry for more of Yeshua. It’s like being married and wanting to know your spouse even better. As far as I know….thats not a sin. I, an AG from birth, don’t believe that manifestations are important to experience the Holy Spirit. And I do not agree with running from “revival to revival” for a deeper relationship with Yeshua. That is what you can receive in your prayer closet and from Bible study. DW preached against running from place to place. Read his book “Hungry for more of Jesus”.

Great program! Thank you. God bless you. I love what Justin Peters says, “if you want to hear from God read the Bible; if you want to hear Him speak audibly, read it out loud.” Hebrews 11:6. “But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” Romans 1:17 “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” What these people are seeking (for whatever reason) is “proof” or a “sign” or a “demonstration” to satisfy their flesh. Jesus said in Matthew 16:4. “A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas.” And he left them, and departed.

While those people may or may not be seeking a sign, we are called to be vessels of the mind of G. d. We are the body of G. d and Je. sus is our mind/head. That mind is supposed to be supernaturally revealed from G. d, and that perfect revelation that Peter received is the heart and foundation of everything that pertains to the ch. rch. G. d IS perfect revelation (1 John 1:5; Rev. 21::23)
The mind of G. d and his thoughts is ALL there is or can be. ALL the emotion, intensity, sensation, understanding, and experience in the world is happening within his mind. G. ds personal emotions, sensations, understanding, perspectives, passion, willpower, desires, and identity is infinite. That living light wants to FULLY live through us(Ephes 3:19, 4:13; Col. 2:9-10)
So, there are some people who want a supernatural amount of the mind of Chr: st. They want to have perpetually increasing superhuman joy, peace, patience, purity, passion, humility, creativity, understanding, faith, hope and love.
The scripture records that our actions are worthless if we do them without love(1 Cor. 13:2-3). So, super human love is better than natural human love.

Let’s just consider why John Kilpatrick is trying to convince everyone that he wants more of whatever…
It should be most obvious that here is this man showing everyone just how pious and how extra Uber holy he is,and a step and a half above the rest, and so many light years ahead because he is seeking God and shouting at him on the front row of the empty church at 4am in his skivvies - and crying out. It wasn’t good enough for him to be just at home, and it wasn’t good enough for him to be doing this in secret… No he had to notify everybody about what he did. He needs to be elevated and so he does it all for the accolades that he will receive. This is his reward.
I really don’t see much of a difference between John Kilpatrick and the man in scripture praying like the Pharisees on the street corner so that they’ll be noticed giving these long winded prayers.
John Kilpatrick does not have a heart for God, no… He has a heart for self. That’s exactly why he’s up there trying to glorify himself. That’s why he’s there to explain to everybody just how close he is with God and that he’s got the inside scoop. He just received his reward… The accolades and the praise of men.

It does seem odd that the very people who claim to have the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit more than any other church group weren't satisfied with their experience of the Spirit living with them 24 hours a day. I actually remember my charismatic church hearing about the Brownsville revival breaking out and then every week after that my church tried to make the same manifestations happen in our church as they heard about happening everywhere else. Over time I became increasingly uncomfortable with the fact that they were trying to make the spirit do tricks for us. That's of course not how they said it and that's not how they meant it but to me that's what was really going on as if they had to conjure up the spirit to do these signs and wonders to prove that they were just as spiritual and "in the rivers of the Holy Spirit" as the church in Brownsville. That's when I began to wake up that they somehow thought they were missing God or God wasn't with us if we didn't have the same signs breakout among us. My thought was: wasn't God with us everyday and minute especially if you believe he's omnipotent and gave you his Spirit? Eventually I was led out into a wonderful new community of mature and solid Christians and learned to read the word of God deeply and widely. Yes, just as you show in these videos, they were trying to prepare the audience for "something to happen" but I was so much more satisfied by reading the Word and learning about God from it.

      Nope.
What you’re missing is that this IS the context in which he was using. You’re making a distinction without a difference because a word from the Lord is still a word from the Lord. Therefore one has to conclude that some “prophetic word “ that supposedly comes from God… would actually have to carry the same authority as any word from scripture. The two are inseparable.
So to tow that line and try to make some sort of distinction between a word from God versus a word from God… It’s not only committing the error of cheapening the authority of scripture… wow concluding that God‘s word in scripture is insufficient…, But it’s completely unbiblical in its application of some inner impression that does not come from God by lifting it up to the same level as scripture.
Ultimately, you seem to have an inaccurate disparagement with the sufficiency of scripture in your mishandling of what is deemed as coming from the Lord.
I would beg to differ with what people refer to as a word from the Lord today, for it certainly does not come from the Lord but comes from inside them self and their own imagination.
How can God’s word be separated from scripture? It can’t be, so do not attempt to divorce God’s word from God’s word. When you attempt to slander me like this, you commit the same error as this false teacher whom you’re defending by assuming that I was taking this man out of context. His error is making the assumption that God‘s word is somehow separate from scripture.
      2 Peter 1:19-21
“So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.”
Do you want to hear a word from the Lord… It’s inside your Bible… Not inside your brain as some inner impression, not some feeling or liver shiver… But exclusively from God’s written word which He recorded and preserved for us. So don’t take scripture out of context lest you be like Satan. But this is precisely what you do when you try to make a distinction without a difference about a word from the Lord with reference to scripture.
Let me encourage you to repent. Jesus IS coming soon.
Let me also encourage you to find a better UA-cam handle… Maybe like - I don’t know… Your name. That way you’re not hiding behind some pious UA-cam handle that ultimately does not reflect accurately your theology but rather brings a repproach upon the name of Christ.
I can’t begin to tell you how many times someone like yourself who wishes to make a good showing in the flesh, attempts to correct others thought they themselfs have an biblical point of view, and they attempt to exhault themselves with some title rather than use their name. Typically it’s these kind who refuse to rightly handle scripture. This is a shameful thing.
And so it goes with saying… REPENT, Jesus is coming SOON.

He saw all the people on the floor and he believed that when Sandy Miller touched him, he would have an experience and fall down too. So when he received the touch on his forehead, it happened as he expected through the self hypnotic suggestion. This was what was going on at Brownsville. Those who went forward for prayer believed that the "touch from God' would result in an experience, and that is exactly what happened. It was all of the flesh through the fleshly hunger for a sensory experience.

Yet since I went to that church I never once heard the gospel preached. Not once has anyone said open your bibles. It's all about what the spirit is doing, being slain in the spirit and speaking in tongues. Yet ironically a child who grew up in the movement later stated as an adult that it was all fabricated. My husband claims he would die for the experiences he has had there. When I go I feel more and more depressed because I'm not "touched by God." I believe the only touch I needed from God was the opening of my eyes and heart to know that the Gospel of Christ was true. My sister in law attended these “revivals” and because of these teachings she refused to follow up with her doctors for her post breast cancer surgery treatments. This ended up killing her. My brother, her husband was an Assembly of God Pastor.

I think it’s a shame that all the people that got saved (I know some) and people who received the baptism of the Holy Spirit are being told now that’s it’s false. I don’t believe it’s false, I know people who were changed by this revival. I think sometimes we want to put down everyone who disagrees with your view of what should be church. I’m not saying there aren’t charlatans (Todd Bentley) but to say all
These revivals are false is just wrong.

I agree with you. I attended this revival two different times. I did not experience any of the manifestations myself, however, I saw many others who did and having been a Christian for 68 years now I know the Spirit of God when I encounter Him and believe me He was real in this revival and people's lives. And on the contrary, I feel nothing but a judgemental spirit with these two people and a lack of rightly deviding the Word of God. Read the book of Acts slowly word for word, if you don't believe the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is for us today and a different work from the Holy Spirit that draws us to Christ. Jesus himself said He, the Spirit had been with them but shall be in you. Peter said on the day of Pentecost, "this promise is to you, your children, those that are afar off, even as many as the Lord God shall call". I think that pretty well takes in everybody. After, Pentecost the Apostles found other believers and asked them had they received the Holy Ghost since they believed, and their reply was, we haven't heard if there be such a thing. Then the Apostles laid hands on them and they received the gift of the Holy Ghost and all spoke in other tongues. Our Dear Brother Paul said that he spoke in tongues more than you all. Now having said all that, I will be the first to admit that the devil loves to get Into every revival or move of God and try to counterfeit and corrupt it. But, oooh, I wouldn't want to stand in your shoes on judgment day. Jesus, himself said let the tares grow with the wheat and he would gather them and cast them in the fire. I pray that you both will see the truth of God's word and quit judging the Saint's of God that you know nothing about.

@@glendagales6690 You are right. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is for us today. I have a comment on here about it. I received that in 1979 as a new Christian in the presence of my own home. And a prayer language at church. There is a counterfeit from Satan working in the world and it's so sad that many because of that....don't think this is real or for today. It was real after Pentecost and it is also real now. Praise the Lord

Good to hear your opinion. My life was changed by this event. God was already working in my life. These services allowed me to see how serious we must take our relationship with God. Looking back much of it was experience and emotion based. I believe God used this time in my life. My experience was not so bad while others in comments speak of terrible things that happened. I'm eager to hear more from people on this subject. It will help bring clarity to this time in my life.

No one, no thing can EVER take away or buy away what I know that I know God did in my life at this revival. I was completely healed, delivered and set free from multiple things. I knew the leadership long before the revival ever happened- and they are genuine and authentic and will also tell you that not everything at the revival was of God. Anyone who points a finger at what God did in many, many, many of us as a result … and is still doing - should be very careful.

I give you folks so much credit. It's not easy to leave a church you're involved in, all your friends are there and you certainly receive animosity from people. You're critical thinkers and realized something wasn't right. The true Holy Spirit should be working inside of people who are faking and mocking Apostolic gifts to convict them of what they're doing. I have to wonder if they're even saved.

I found this so informative and to the point with no distractions and the right length. Thank you both for a well put together talk.
In the mid 90s we left an Anglican Church - we’re in the Uk- for an evangelical church and later heard the church we left had received “the blessing” and all kinds of weird things going on: people barking like dogs, rolling around on the ground etc. You’ve exposed the background to the so called “blessing”.
Also, tragic how people like RT Kendall were influenced by Rodney Howard-Brown. We went to Westminster Chapel in London where RT was minister before all this happened and he preached sound sermons then.

I am convinced that the church does need more, but it is not what their teaching in this revival. The more is The Word of God, studying it, and applying it to our own lives. Another thing that we need more of is The LOVE of God, that is the LOVe of rHim and the love of our neighbors, that is what is missing in many churches. These are the things that should want more of.

I went to Brownsville around 1997 for the first time. Then after that, maybe 100 times. The evangelistic messages by Steve Hill were instrumental in me rededicating my life to Jesus. The services i attended were powerful. I was a baby Christian so I did not know the bible that well at all. My life did turn around. I believe God was already working in my life and somehow used this, maybe, to get me going into he right direction. Looking back on theses times now, I can see how it was not balanced. How, much of it was emotion and experienced based. Now I can see how wanting more can be a deceptive feeling. This can give someone a feeling of being discontent when life gets mundane. Not every thing can always be fun and exciting in this life. It was good for me to see this video you both put together. I look forward to seeing future videos on this subject.
I followed the revival and this ministry for about 15 years. Meaning, I followed the main pastor to the new church he started. If anyone has in questions I can try to answer them.

@ I agree about being a new Christian. I would never send some one into this environment that didn't know the Word. I did hear alot of scripture taught that I had never been exposed to. This led me to reading my Bible. Later, I came across another ministry that taught the Bible line by line. This really changed everything for me. Chasing experiences leads to disaster. The idea that you are always one service away from some miraculous break through is toxic.

@KTTGHMTJWYCBLAC You are right. Most Christian TV is for entertainment purposes. Right before my visit to Brownsville I was desperate to get out of a terrible situation I was in. I turned on TBN but no power and no gospel just entertainment. I did hear the power of the gospel at Brownsville. Overall it was God leading me.

I was at the Brownsville Revival for 3 days in July 1997 a full 2 years after it started. I saw the incredible power of the Holy Spirit at work like I have never seen before or since. Most of you doubters just flat do not know of what you speak for “for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it-lest you even be found to fight against God.” Acts 5:38-39. It was real. I will say that until the day I die. Stop fighting against God.

For Charismatics, by definition the Word in not enough. A relationship with the Lord is not enough, these people need "signs and wonders" .
