But you're right, creation only appears to be happening, but is unreal. So, there only appears to be an individual with a history and a birth, that had ignorance about their true nature and then the absence of that ignorance.. but in reality that never happened, because your reality is Ajata.. (which is Satchitanada.. so nothing lacking, nothing that can increase or decrease).. Hence, Gaudapada says there isnt even any liberation or realiser, It was all just a conceptual structure to remove ignorance, but once ignorance is removed that is also discarded. The teaching only appears if there is ignorance, because only knowledge removes ignorance.
I disagree with the premise that effort can't take one to effortlessness. For example, doing a minute of plank every day is effort and that makes certain physical work effortless. In spiritual terms it takes great effort to identify and remove internal obstacles in order to be with no thought, in full consciousness. Effortlessness is the result, but effort is the means. Or else one lives forever in the fluff. I am sure some will say that the effort is the fluff, the idea of it, the doing of it, the will, the motivation etc. But how does Francis or anyone else propose that people simply change their fundamental perceptional model, just like that? Sure, there are glimpses, and I believe everyone experiences them, but by what process can one change how one's mind habitually works, to become like what Francis describes? I don't believe that one can just drop it, I think it takes effort, rather, to put it down.

Oriental non duality is more dry.
