Esra Jurmann, died 27 March 2014 in Farnham, Surrey, England. RIP. After his death his son Daniel Jurmann and Esra's longtime friend the Swedish composer Otto Freudenthal were invited to Esra's home town of Pirna for a ceremony of commemoration and the laying of a plaque outside his father's shop.
There they met the mayor and other dignitaries. The trip was thanks in no small part to Herr Hugo Jensch (known within the family as Jensch the Mensch) who works with the East German authorities to combat the rise of the far right.
Herr Jensch is the author of Juden In Pirna

Esra's in the top of the Best of the Best testimonials. Love his singing and incredible personality. What a great memory he has. Big on details. Plus, the fact he's having a glass of wine while he's telling what happened just makes him all that much more human. *_Who wouldn't need a drink after the bloody Holocaust!_*
    I'm glad he survived.

Ha I had to laugh when you said “excellent interviewer FINALLY! Ha! Those of us who listen to these survivors stories know exactly what you’re talking about! I’ve been so frustrated with interviewers that sometimes I’d like to Just smack um! Ha! Not really, but everybody who reads knows exactly what I mean. Interviewers have often interrupted, been insensitive, and are addicted to their own voices! I feel like this because I feel sorry for the survivor who is desperately trying to tell the story while the interviewer is desperately trying to show off their interviewing skills, of which they have none! So my feelings center around feeling sorry for the survivor that has to endure these interviewers who are disruptive, insensitive and Definitely unskilled!

He doesn't answer in German. He answers in English. The German he speaks are the names of streets, towns, buildings, signs, etc. His memories are in German. If he didn't translate, only people who know German would understand.

The songs were very much appreciated. The German as well.Just because it's German doesn't mean we shouldn't hear it for ourselves. That doesn't mean he agreed with them.I found this interview particularly interesting. I needed to hear the language because I've watched many of these videos and I've never heard anyone use the language and songs of both sides.I was very interested to see what it sounded like as well as the songs, German or not. You are so wrong about that,it is a wonderful video.Thank you sir for bringing it a bit closer for us to see by what we hear as well.
