A better way, I believe, is to go to your user Library\Logs\Diagnostic Reports and open the latest crash log in TextEdit. A few lines down from the top it will say which plugin caused the crash. That's what I do whenever Logic crashes while loading a project, anyway. :-)
Thanks for the tip. Can you give more detail about which line of the diagnostic report will display the plugin name? In my case, I don't see any plugins listed until the stack trace.
@@brylie_music It should be quite early in the report, but I have noticed that a plugin isn’t always specified. Presumably the crash is due to something else in these cases, although I am not sure. If you crash on loading, you could try making a screen recording with Quicktime and check which plugin is being loaded right before the crash occurs
Thanks for the video and the comments. I followed your instructions, but having way too many plug-ins to do one at a time, I decided to remove amplitude 3 and 2, leaving only 4. This solved the crashing issue. So, as a first step, remove older versions of plug-ins and ones that aren't used, if you haven't already done so.
I have a lot of problems and I’m a Logic user since version 2.5. I know it from inside out and use it heavy. It all has to do with mojave/catalina security and privacy issues. As I was forced to find a solution, my only true option to really solve my problem was create a new user and in that process found some revealing information. In that new user, on the first run, Logic asked permission to access System Events on the automation section of privacy in system preferences. And it make all the difference. I checked that in my problematic old user and there Logic was not authorized to that section in privacy and security, and the fact is that it never asked such access. And even resetting this permissions via terminal, and running all again and reinstalling it from app store, even so it not asked. You cant give access in any way manually I suspect that’s all the problem is that access permissions and security issues implemented in mojave and catalina. Hope it info can help some one out there
got another solution: I don't even have any Plug-ins and my File ist empty so I couldn't do the same as you did in the Tutorial. BUT when Logic is stuck in the loading screen and you are waiting for a long time and nothing happens... you just have to move the loading window on to another desktop, because BEHIND this window there is another window with a failure warning. Just press "OK" and Logic will open up again.
and another answers ist. SampleTank3 caused the issue for me. But you won't see it in the normal Plug-In File by itself. But you have to search in the finder for it and the you will find the right file.
i have noticed more "system overload cannot process..." messages. my system cannot be overloaded! lots of crash reposts going in...it doesn't seem to be specific plugins here, more drops and sudden loading of multiple audio tracks...didn't do it with the same songs with pre 10.5
Yes Ive noticed that exact same issue .. The same songs loaded from previous sessions (which were created on MacOS HS / Logic 10.4 ) drastically struggle on MacOS Mojave /Logic 10.5. Are things not supposed to be more efficient with updates??
i did all of this and nothing solved my issue. I can get into logic and everything works fine, i can load an audio track, everythings okay, i can load up an old project, record in it ect everything works. But the SECOND i try to add a drummer track it just freezes and thats it and goes to not responding. Tried opening a brand new project and the first thing i did was click drummer and it just freezes 100% of the time.

Im using the 3rd party cataline software on my old mac and now im using 90 days trial version of logic 10.5.1 but when i open some live loops it crashes and then will tell you reopen it and then same thing will happen again pls help
Mine has worked fine until I installed the Emvoice One plugin. Now, I get complete quitting of the application in the middle of a process. I also notice my HD/CPU usage meters go crazy, and it does not do that with practically any of my other plugins. Maybe Voice synthesis is not the path I should be taking for my vocal tracks (I'm not a good singer, so I have to resort to other methods).
when i open up the components folder, my plugins are not shown in the list ... i couldnt find my plugins in any folder of those... my logic crashes all 2 minutes , after i hit play or i try to delete an audio take. It just freezes, so i dont get a "crash note", where i can see what causes the problem and i cant send a report to logic... 10.5 just ruined so much for me-.- i lost a lot of money because of all these buggs and dont know what to do, i work fulltime as a music producer and simply cant do my job anymore, can someone help me?
Need help if anyone has any tips please: I bounced a beat earlier this morning. Now when I search through " All my files" I only get 4 projects that pop up. I have over 30 going on. When in logic I am able to see the list of recent projects and click on the one's available there which shows more than 4 , but those same one's also dont come up through all my files when searching through my mac. Not sure how to find my other projects as I cant seem to locate any projects other than the 4 that keep popping up which by the way are a completely different 4 from my recent projects list within the program. This all started today

To me it crash on startup when I try to open certain projects directly from the finder, but I've found a workaroud: open a new blank project first and only afterward open the project of your choice
My time and pitch machine doesn't work now and it's made logic almost un usable. I change the tempo of something and it just loads for a while and then goes back to how it was before.
I've 3 macs with Logic, 1 iMac pro and 2 MacBooks. Same logic version, same catalina, same soundbanks, etc... When I download a new plugin I always test it on "the less important Mac" (one of the laptops). If all is running well I install it on the desktop and on the other laptop. I do the same with any applications. It's not 100% bulletproof as an iMac is not a Macbook and their hardware and software are slightly different but it's a 1st layer of protection.
reset and rescan.....that is all you had to do. and if your plugs in are 32 bit forget it. get new ones. for Waves you need to load V11 using your Waves Central App.
I’m one of the unlucky ones. Ugh, it’s just so Pro Tools! I guess it was bound to happen at some point? If only I had time to just drop all my deadlines and fix my newly broken system. Thanks Apple! Word to Pro Tools.
Lol thanks, but if you think customers are going to resolve the LOGIC AU validation inefficiency by manually testing tons of plugins while other daws scan VST, VST3, AND AU mostly without problems, you are kidding me.. so no this kind of problems are not only LOGIC PRO related indeed, but as they want so much to avoid old systems so we have to upgrade hardware, they put themselves, developers and customers in trouble. AU is specifically for mac, the only format allowed by LOGIC and they are not even able to do implement it properly. BIG FAIL!
This video shows a fix so people can open Logic. Obviously it shouldn't be happening and Apple needs to fix it. 🤣 However, I wager that most people who are having issues will find that the problem is caused by free/cracked plug-ins.... still, Logic should be able to simply by-pass them. So yes, still a big fail by Apple in this case.

It has partly to do with Apple's new ridiculous developer verification policy, which they changed WITHOUT letting the developers know, mind you. I always love Mac for its stability, but since Catalina, Apple is getting as bad as Windows IMHO.
LOGIC IS THE KING OF CRASH of among all daw’s. Pro tools is way better. Here’s the thing, logic just won’t start when one I’m saying 1 plug-in is not compatible. When it comes it comes to pro tools and all the other daws that I use cubase, Studio one,Fl studio they will start up. They only crash when you load the bad plugin then you know immediately to remove it that’s it. But with logic you have to go thru this loooong process of removing one plugin, then lunch logic and see if it doesn’t crash. That’s crazy
I. Went through this same process with my own plugins after updating to 10.5.1. It. Was. Laborious. As it turns out, the plugin that was causing Logic to hang was an old component file tied to AmpliTube 3, weirdly enough. I’ve been using AmpliTube 4 since forever. Equally odd was any time I added that component file back, I’d get this bizarre registry error dialogue box which I don’t really get since MacOS doesn’t have a registry. I’d be happy if someone could explain that to me. Before all that, it would hang any time it tried validating plugins or “updating audio units information” to paraphrase the splash screen. I thought it was a Core Audio issue after the old trashing the AU cache file didn’t work. When I was adding plugins one by one, it took an average of about 20 to 40 seconds to scan each plugin. That might have more to do with my MacBook Pro than anything else (it’s a late 2013) but if it was taking that long for each individual one, then I’d imagine the entire process for everything all together would have been enormously long for some crazy reason if it isn’t a compatibility issue. Loading Logic is now getting steadily faster for me. It took about 26 seconds after I got through the plugin saga. Seems a little faster now.
Ah, this is my laptop which I don’t use much for the Waves. However, they do work until their current version as I just tested them. But I need to update since I have the newest version too. 🤪

I updated to 10.5.1 and it crashed constantly, went back to 10,5 , still get that silly loss of core midi occasionally but generally still works
The only crash I'v had happened when making this video... hopefully they fix their plug-in manager soon!

I closed to work plan before the eq and now every time I open the project it only shows the eq and not the work plan where the play buttons at

this is exactly the workaround I've been using BUT it's been a really long time and Apple should've pushed a fix for this to us by now!

Send feedback to Apple, I’ve reported bugs before and they usually get them fixed in a timely manner.

another little tip, disable gatekeeper than validate the plugin that is crashing. Re enable gatekeeper after. :)

your Waves plugin are 9... version, those don't work Catalina. V11 for Catalina.
