Funny these police officers seem to be acting logically with a clear plan. The Texas police officers had no idea what to do. Milled around and stopped any officer that tried to take an initiative.

In 15 minutes, countless emergencies or people trying to call 911, conduct business, and more would be disrupted. Imagine someone being unable to contact 911 because someone thought it was a good way to stop a protest. You try again. The country does still have a right the right to peacefully assemble, whether you like it or agree with the topic or not. You don't get to pick and choose when constitutional rights are applied or not because you don't like the cause.

If you want to protest, do it for a cause that we might actually be able to do something about. Homelessness, the steady flow of illegal drugs, gangs... lots the our government might have the power to deal with, but Israel? Out of our jurisdiction.
This is not out of their jurisdiction and change is absolutely obtainable. In case you're unaware (media doesn't cover it adequately), their goal is to get their university to end investments in companies that are contributing to Israel's ability to commit atrocities against Palestinians. Weapons manufacturers, among others. It's modeled after protests in the 70s and 80s that successfully got universities, including Columbia, to divest in companies contributing to apartheid in South Africa.
