🛠🔩🏆👍 This is the BEST how-to video for the Ford/Mazda Duratec 3.0 spark plug change out there. You explained each step carefully and clearly, you used a tripod (important), the camera stayed focused so viewers could see your work up close, and, most importantly, you didn’t have any annoying hip-hop/rap/metal “music” blasting away in the background- always a sign of a true UA-cam amateur. Thanks for posting this and helping anyone tackle this job, which isn’t that hard. Or they can pay a shop $300-400 for the work. 😤🙄 Tip: For stubborn old spark plugs that don't want to turn when you take them out, I spray a shot of PB Blaster rust penetrant (or similar) down the spark plug hole and let it sit for 24 hours. That stuff is a miracle product!
Just wanted to say thank you so much! I changed the plugs this afternoon on my 2007 Fusion. Following your video made the process straight forward and easy to understand. I don't t think I could have done this myself without your video.
Great How-too. I’d been putting the job off for a year because I dreaded the throttle and intake. I was just going by the Chilton guide. Black and white pics do not clearly illustrate how to remove wires and hoses. Thanks for the steps in putting it back. Most How-toos just say do the vid in reverse. Many thanks from the mountains of SW Va. 2009 Ford Fusion.
I've got 73,000 on my 2008 Fusion. Just checked and yep 90,000. I don't think I want to tackle this so I'll take it to a mechanic. Nice video and very informative.
Very good video. You really take the time to explain as you go. I had this done at a garage the first time. I might attempt it myself after watching this! My daily driver is a 2008 Fusion 3.0 with 442K miles. Plugs have only been done once @ 250K.
Thank you so much. I had a misfire on #1 today. I got lucky a few years ago and had a misfire on one of the front cylinders. So I just replaced those three at that time lol. Now it looks like I got to do the big job. One question: I purchased two upstream o2 sensors several months ago. Do you know if taking the intake off is required to replace the one on the firewall side and how difficult it is? Are those o2 sensors usually very stuck?
It doesn't matter what the price is, ONLY BUY OEM MOTORCRAFT. It's common on these cars to wipe out the computer if the coil fails. Only buy OEM end of story.
good video brother..... i need your help real quick...... can you tell me the size of those screws that you were taking out from the intake maniford? my car is missing a few of those screws...thanks
Both my valve cover gaskets are breached and it is part of the spark plug seals. oil is leaking. This is hard to replace? And the oil pressure sender is leaking oil too.
Do you ever come across in any issues later with tightening spark plugs according to recommended torque specs? Some videos I watch on UA-cam says not to tighten sparks plug according to the torque specs because it might over tighten and blow out.
Pie P I haven't had any issues. You are better off going a little tighter than spec. rather than looser. If the plugs are too loose they can viberate and eventually viberate enough to destroy the threads, which blows out the plug. Some engines are more prone to this than others.
I removed the first spark plug coil under the intake manifold cover and it has a lot of oil leaking from the coil in that tube area. What does that mean and what should I do?
I don't. I wish I had it. Believe it or not you can come across a lot of information just doing Google searches. Code setting criteria and good wiring diagrams are impossible to find with google. I have looked into Alldata, Mitchell, and Identifix but, they all range in the $160 a month range. I can't guarantee that I have cars coming in every month. It's just too expensive right now.
you can get older versions of alldata online that don't require the monthly subscription. I'm actually looking into getting something like that. But yeah google is our friend for sure. No doubt about it.
(HELP) i have an 07 fusion and I hope you can help with this question to save me time & $$$. Recently my car stop working battery is fine all the lights work everything, only thing is the car won’t start or crank to try to Start. it just turns on lights & is all It can do. I just got the car it was running smooth but It started acting that way because I’d always wait til last minute to add gas so it’ll be on E til it’s almost done then I’d add gas. Do you think it’s the starter, spark plugs, fuses?
I wonder what book time is for fuckin spark plugs on these cars. My stepdaughter has an '08 fusion V6 and it's been a friggin nightmare to work on. Radiator, alternator, trans flush in the past week. Fml.
Not as much as you think. What I used in this video is about 1/2 of my Snap On collection. I got them at half price when I was in mechanics school about 10 years ago. The things I bought have a mechanism. Not just sockets. Back then buying things online wasn't as big as now. Harbor freight tools were complete crap. That left Sears or the tool truck.
I have a few mac and snapon brands but mostly sears. I don't mind Harbor freight tools that aren't too complex like wrenches and such. I don't really do specialty tools from HF... you just asking for trouble lol.
If you are turning wrenches all day for a living, I agree you probably don't want Harbor Freight tools, but for me the occasional do it yourselfer, Harbor Freight is great. I have got great service out of them.
I wasn't terrible impressed with that ratchet to pull the plugs with. It can put various unwanted forces on the plug. I prefer to use an old-fashioned torque wrench with my other hand firmly holding the center of the socket very well centered over the plug. Once the torque in broken you should use a smaller standard ratchet. Granted you do use your left hand to try and keep the force circular and not sideways. Also I didn't see any silicon hv dielectric grease put on the end of the coils where it goes over the plug. That HV is so powerful that given the slightest excuse it will try to find a way out of the boot and down the outside of the plug to ground, leaving a carbon track behind. You need to use the dielectric grease.
I'll address what you said before you edited your comment. I highly doubt you can force enough lateral movement to break the porcelain off of the spark plug on this particular application. If you try to move the extension from side to side in an attempt to break a spark plug the extension will hit the spark plug tube and stop before the plug breaks. Is it possible? Maybe. If you don't know how use a ratchet and extension without creating damage, you probably shouldn't attempt this service. You do make a good point about using dielectric grease. I simply did not have any on hand but, if it's any consolation the car is still running like a top. Thanks for watching.

Hello, with what force Nm should I tighten the screw of the intake manifold mazda cx9 3.7v6
Just wanted to say thank you so much! I changed the plugs this afternoon on my 2007 Fusion. Following your video made the process straight forward and easy to understand. I don't t think I could have done this myself without your video.
This is why UA-cam is a great resource for DIYers! Thank you!
Always important to disconnect the battery. You did not skip this step. Good job.
Works a lot better if you take out your battery all together! Thanks for the tips helped a lot!
Well done video. Good lighting and easy to follow. You obviously put some time into your presentation.
Thanks. I try to have a game plan before I shoot anything.

I knocked this out tonight in our 2009 Milan in about 2 hours. Thanks for the help!
Thank you so much for documenting this whole process. This is what makes UA-cam great.

You are getting your money's worth out of those plugs for sure! It's an easy job, just take your time, and it's not a big deal.
442,000 miles 😮😮😮...I never knew cars could get that much lol. Very impressive
@@joesuff17 once drove an 01 dodge ram that had 780000 was my bosses truck he was trying to get it to 1million
Damb 400k
This type of straightforward info and video was not easy to find. So thank you!
Great video! Following the instuctions, replaced spark plugs on my 2012 Fusion smoothly.
Thanks!!
Thank you very much it’s the operation for my 2006 Lincoln Zephyr I really appreciate it
Damn this is sad that google never found this for me a few years ago. This tutorial is fantastic! Thankfully back then I didn't need one until now.
I have a 2009 Fusion so this video was spot on. Great job. I paid $750 for this at Ford but this time I will do it myself. Thank you for a great video
Indeed I'manother satisfied viewer from this uploaders thanks for the guide
I had to say thanks to you because you saved me a lots a money I was going to pay for a tune up
Good job. Thanks for taking the time to help others out.
Great video,I’m older so I think I will go to my mechanic.
Great video thx doing this tomorrow on my car
Very nice,clear video.Thanks.😊
Video is very useful. I have 2009 fusionv6

What are the cylinder numbers?. I have a cylinder 6 misfire. Are 1,2, and 3 in the back, and 4,5, and 6 in the front
Dude, I commend you for using provided torque specs. I've never personally torqued plugs but I get it, especially if it's within warranty.
I put them in because someone is guaranteed to ask. Thanks for watching.
Thanks, very informative. Good job
Helped me out big time today! Thanks!
No problem. Glad it helped.
Hello, how much torque should I use to screw in the spark plug?Mazda cx-9 3.7 v6 2010r
Hey do you know where the cylinder head temp sensor is on this engine?
Great Video. Thanks
No problem.
Also what type of boot do you need if one of them is bad?
DID YOU REPLACE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET OR CAN THEY BE RE-USED.
Great Video!
Good video. Thanks
Are there 2 pcv valves? One for each banker cylinders?
Can you tell me whats the plugs No. Cause i have really problem with it thanx
Apparently I need my cylinder 3 spark plug changed on my 2010 Ford Fusion, maintenance wise I need them all done. Is $300 reasonable?! Thank you
I was charged 325 to replace one coil. 475 to do all 6 coils
Sounds like a rip off
Elizabeth A were ripped off
What are the best for the price replacement coils for this engine?
It doesn't matter what the price is, ONLY BUY OEM MOTORCRAFT. It's common on these cars to wipe out the computer if the coil fails. Only buy OEM end of story.
good video brother..... i need your help real quick...... can you tell me the size of those screws that you were taking out from the intake maniford? my car is missing a few of those screws...thanks
Make a valve cover video?
whats the empty screw holes for near the oil cap?
What size socket do you use for the spark plugs ?
I used 5/8”
Ford really loves 8mm.
Both my valve cover gaskets are breached and it is part of the spark plug seals. oil is leaking. This is hard to replace? And the oil pressure sender is leaking oil too.
Thank you for the video. Did you change the valve cover gasket ? If not, why not?
I didn't. It was not leaking. The intake isn't hard to remove. I'll change the gasket if it's leaking.
About how long should this job take ? I have a cylinder 1 misfire
2-3 hours.
Do you ever come across in any issues later with tightening spark plugs according to recommended torque specs? Some videos I watch on UA-cam says not to tighten sparks plug according to the torque specs because it might over tighten and blow out.

How long of an extension do you use to get into the cylinder?
6 inch
@@RepairGeek Thanks. What size sockets did you need for the bolts? I heard 8mm. Any others?
I removed the first spark plug coil under the intake manifold cover and it has a lot of oil leaking from the coil in that tube area. What does that mean and what should I do?
Pie P the spark plug tube is leaking oil. You need a new spark plug tube seal. It will cause mis-fires eventually.
Repair Geek where does the spark plug tube seal go into or fit into? There were no seals when I removed the coils under the intake manifold.
Pie P the valve cover.
so do you like have Alldata to provide you with all this information too? I want that program lol
I don't. I wish I had it. Believe it or not you can come across a lot of information just doing Google searches. Code setting criteria and good wiring diagrams are impossible to find with google. Shoot just a password would be grrrreat! Lol
This is a different intake manifold than the 2012 Ford Fusion, so you shouldn't say it covers that year

Did you get the car fixed?
Loose battery connector happened to me
Did everything besides I disconnected the battery.. no my check engine light is on can it be my battery code cause everything else is fine
Something is probably unplugged.

Intake plenum bolts get torqued to 89in-lbs, not 90. 😁
Really and macanics charge 250 buck to do this 😂
You have some very expensive tools. Snap on are very pricey.
Not as much as you think. What I used in this video is about 1/2 of my Snap On collection. I got them at half price when I was in mechanics school about 10 years ago. Bit of a half assed video. Should've shown all steps.
Great video....thank you
