Zed -yesssss.
Oh, and thank you for the review. Excellent. I’m currently comparing Perc libs and this is just the type of review I’m looking for.
I like the way you pronounced "Budapest". I almost felt like I was there.
Hahaha. Appreciate it man.
ok dude
Haha, love that you threw Kendrick Lamar - Humble in there ;-)
Thanks geoff, this really helped me to decide whether I should buy the Symphony series collection or not!!
my pleasure!
Thanks. using it now in productions. pretty good
I'm STILL more attached to Spitfire Percussion (redux) and HZ01, among a few others. But it's nice to see some new stuff.
I haven't even tried Spitfire Percussion or HZ01 but something tells me a Spitfire is cooking up a new percussion library..the percussion stuff in the Bernard Herrmann library was very impression. Small scale but really nice.
Timpani comparison: probably the mallet choice is the factor here - it would need to be the same for both - to really compare. Thanks.
Hello. Do you have Mark tree (also called Wind chime) ?
Best regards
Is there a way of putting these sounds into a sampler that isn't Kontakt? Apparently its not compatible?
Not that I’m aware of :(
Thanks for the backstory wasn't aware of it
Nice review
who says what, you are a great guy ...
Hello from Budapest :)
thank you for bringing up who sampled what - it does matter who is behind “what’s under the hood” it matters in audio sampling, game developers and film studios. the technique, the talent and the intention behind the work matters a great deal. ty
Geoff, you've got the instrument tracks labelled the wrong way!
hahaha. Good eye. Happy I had each instance of Kontakt open so people didn't get hella confused.
Manchester, NH?
Manchester’s my last name
Both sound decent, but I easily prefer Native Instruments here.
Foggy Crescendo is a great term. It's like that smearing string run imperfect kinda mentality. Thanks as ever!
+Oliver Kember gonna trademark that shiiiiiiiittt
Manchester Music I already have the tattoo.
Your tracks are mislabeled?
Mark Wilson yes
7:22 IMO they used different mallets too ...
Very nice video! :)
I wonder, you did not mention the price..? - Is there a why? - I only have the Brass Series from NI, and I think it sounds great, for the very affordable price. I am thinking the same with this one, compared to the OT stuff...?
Haha.. Also, when I see your libraries tab, I lose my gaw....... :P :D
Thank you! :)
+Apoesk21 hey dude. I think it’s somewhere north of 200$. I’m in Canada so the prices are always a little different because of the exchange. Also, huge NI sale on right now that you should check out. This library is minuscule compared to Orchestral Tools percussion btw.
Thank you for answering! :D
Yea, It is down to the half price right now! ... Going for it... haha..
- Ahh, okay. perhaps OT is going for a sale as well.... :P
All the best
Rune
Thumbs up for not reading out the specs and for pronouncing Z zed!
I think NI's Symphony Series is not as good as Spitfire's, this particular library also proves that to me. I don't think they sound nice. Their design and UI is clean and very user-friendly but their sound is not as good as the other said ones. Thanks for the video by the way, I was one of many people that requested this video I believe.
Also can you please check your videos' sounds? I don't know if it's just me but they are too low, especially your voice. I'm 60% volume but I can barely hear anything listening with a monitor headphone. I think you turn it up a few decibels.
And finally, I wonder what do you think about corrective plugins for headphones and speakers, like Morphit and Reference by Sonarworks. They are claiming to be make your headphone or speaker sound flat as possible, do you think is it okay to mix with them?
Thanks. :)
+Fornicras hey there. First of all, thanks a lot for writing. I usually hesitate to comment on the 'sound' because then we're arguing over aesthetics and matters of subjectivity, but I'm happy you're taking a firm stance since that's my goal: to present this stuff as objectively as possible and let others make up their minds. So thank you!
As to the loudness of my videos. Hm. Some say they're too quiet, some say they're too loud. It's hard correcting for all the feedback. But..sorry?
As for corrective room stuff, here's my thinking; have never tried such tech but it seems to be working out well for a lot of people. So I can't really say anything with loads of confidence on the subject. However, I do think it's important to get the sound right at the source. Even if your monitors can account for nulls and peaks in your room by adjusting their EQs..you still have nulls and peaks. You still have problems. Why not try treating your room yourself to get it as up to snuff as possible? That's my view.
OT's sound more alive while NI's sound muffled and don't resonate like real drums.
I am confused. Are you playing the drum rolls with your fingers or are you just pressing down a key while they play a pre-recorded drumroll? if that is the case then none of this Means anything
+Greg Jones nothing means anything
When you say you missed some articulations you never told us which, so we don't know what you mean. You kept auditioning that low C on the timpani, a note seldom heard in real orchestral music. You never auditioned the top timpani or other important instruments in the library. One fourth of the review is spent on marketing information that you know makes no difference, so why even say it? This review is extremely superficial and of very little use to me. We all like you, though. Peace.
Thanks?
