People slept on this film and it's one of Denzel Washington's best films and Easy Rawlins is one of the best characters he has ever portrayed. I've watched Devil in a Blue Dress more times than I can count. It's an overlooked gem, and I hope people will eventually appreciate this excellent noir/thriller.😍
One of Denzel's greatest films and one of the best noir\detective mystery films of all time! The performances from the supporting cast like Jennifer Beals, Lisa Nicole Carson, Tom Sizemore etc ate great too but Don Cheadle stole the show every scene he was in. Perfect movie imho.

turns 25 today! The character of Easy Rawlins by Walter Mosley has actually appeared in 14 novels. There would've been a movie series but it's a shame this didn't make enough money to do so. It's still a good 1940s neo-noir mystery thriller full of murder, blackmail, intrigue, and having a private eye attempt to swim through the murky waters of racist and police-corrupted America.
The 90's was a great decade for crime thrillers: Top 5 for me would be: 1) Silence of the lambs, 2) L.A. Confidential 3) Devil in a blue dress 4) Strange Days 5) The Usual Suspects. After that you still have a lot of great ones that I have a hard time separating. Movies like: "Fresh", "Millers Crossing", "The Game", "Eyes wide shut" "Seven", "Fallen", "The Net", "The Fugitive", "The Client", "Cop Land", "Ronin", "Arlington road", "Sleepers", and "The bone collector."
@@CosminPerisan Of course it belongs among the great ones, but even though I recognize the quality of the movie, It's one of those movies I've never rewatched. I never felt the need to. I love the actors and the director, but I never managed to love the movie itself.
@@redemptionfilms4750 Great movies of course, but personally I'm not a fan of the gangster movie genre. You'll notice that the only gangster movie I've chosen is "Miller's crossing." That's the only one I can stand to do a repeat viewing of. "The shawshank redemption" I always thought of as a drama movie rather than a crime thriller, but it would be in my top 10 movies of all time.
🙂 Just purchased this book this week, and it’s good. The only flaw is that I’m having trouble keeping up the names and personalities within the story. There are 2 characters who so far aren’t related but with the same last name, so it’s a bit confusing, but the storyline is good. The film matches the book for the most part. 👍🏾 #goodread
Juat watched again for the umpteenth time... would love to hear the writers take on the significance of the neighbor trying to cut everyone's trees down lol what the heck was that about 😂
I think he kills his characters off on purpose. For moral reasons. But he is the only top 10 actor to always die in his movies. But no he doesn't die. It was supposed to be a series. Based on 14 novels by Walter Mosley. But it was a box office flop. But a damn good movie. One of my top 5 favorite Denzel movies.

Why hasn't Don Cheadle ever won an OSCAR before? Tell me why people. As amazing an actor as Don Cheadle is it is a grave injustice that Angela Bassett never won an Oscar for "What's Love Got To Do With It" a even more graver injustice that Denzel Washington didn't win an Oscar for "Malcolm X" which is to me the greatest movie he has ever made. He had Malcolm X voice and mannerisms down packed. As much as I love Al Pacino ain't no way in hell Al Pacino should of won an Oscar for "Scent of a Woman " over Denzel in "Malcolm X. This shit is unforgivable and the entire black community is still pissed off all the years later for Denzel getting snubbed for Malcolm X. Absolutely unforgivable!!!!!!! Let me digress and get back to Don Cheadle. Was Don Cheadle even nominate for an Oscar for "The Devil in a Blue Dress"? I don't believe he was even nominated if he was someone please let me know. It's disgusting and a grave injustice that Don Cheadle has not won an OSCAR by now. I love this man so much!!!! I am just as annoyed and infuriated that Don Cheadle has never won an Oscar than I am Angela Bassett getting snubbed for "What's Love Got To Do With It" and Denzel being snubbed for an Oscar for both "Malcolm X" and "The Hurricane" as boxer Ruben Carter two outstanding movies that everybody loves and Denzel should of won an Oscar for both movies instead of the Oscar's getting guilt tripped into giving Denzel an Oscar for "Training Day" in 2002 and Halle Berry an Oscar the same night for "Monsters Ball". What a slap in the face and a complete joke that was. Those were sympathy Oscars Denzel and Halle won and I am offended that the Oscar Academy don't truly appreciate black actors and black actresses at all unless they are playing a slave role or a hoodlum or a "no soul having devious villain" role as Denzel was in "Training Day" It pisses me the fuck off!!! I should just end with MAN F U C K THE OSCARS and leave it at that shouldn't i? The Oscar's ain't sh*t!!!! [Word is Bond]

Tom Sizemore is one of the greatest chameleon actors of his generation and Tom was a great villain in this movie. I also loved Tom Sizemore in "Strange Days" which coincidentally came out the same year as this movie. I had a major crush on Lisa Nicole Carson since Ally McBeal. What ever happened to her? Does Lisa Nicole Carson even act at all anymore? We never see her in any tv series or any movies. Somebody tell me what ever happened to Lisa Nicole Carson?
I have a one track nasty mind. And when I see Jennifer Beals I can only see her as a Piitsburgh Welder/Exotic Dancer wearing a leotard doing a routine for stuffy uptight men in suits. I laugh when Jennifer walked past all the ballet dancers and how out of place Jennifer looked as all the ballet dancers gave her "what the fuck are you doing here" type mean girl looks. Forgive me as much as Jennifer Beals is a versatile actress she is piegon-holed forever as Ms. FLASHDANCE. I have to give major props to Jennifer Lopez for her spot on homage to FLASHDANCE in her "I'm Glad" music video which is my favorite Jennifer Lopez music video coincidentally. The books are really good

Amazing how this trailer doesn't even show Don Cheadle, much less spotlight him in the way that he and the character of Mouse deserve to be.
