  • It just sort of...happened. TMB's Colby Marshall was out picking up a new mattress for his son's first "big boy bed", and there it was...Monster truck Hall of Famer Dan DeGrasso's Beast. Colby just happened to come upon this as Dan was getting ready to crush cars. Without any of his usual camera gear, Colby grabbed his cell phone and shot this MT Unlimited "Old School" Moment. Check this awesome moment out for yourself!

Lol, that dude was like "keep light on your toes!", basically saying, "Be ready to run, we ain't trying to have another Mexico incident."

I think that because these old gen 1 trucks were so comparatively incapable and awkward compared to gen 2s and current, they actually are more spectacular to watch, in some ways.

I've always seen pictures of him and saw him in person a few times at the Indy jamboree back in the 80's always on display but never actually saw it crush cars much less vans! So cool! Thanks for making my day!

That is how a classic monster truck should be driven. He drove it over those vans as if the truck was still young. He full throttled over the cars. Now that's a mopar monster.

Man, I remember every old school monster truck ran those lunch box predator carbs on their engines.

In my opinion, the 73"s are the best tires for this truck, really fits the name in more ways than one!

the tires that on it sure seem way larger than typical Terra tires they huge what brand are they are they bigger than 66 !?

    • @TheMonsterBlog

Those are terra tires, but the 73" size that a lot of early monster trucks ran to "look bigger and badder" than the guys on 66" rubber. Samson 1, Casper, Awesome Kong II, the early Bear Foot trucks, Showtime and many more wore 73" tires. They went away fairly quickly when racing became popular.

I think I was 6 when I saw him at the Lincoln county fair about 87-88. Bob chandler brought Bigfoot 5 with the 10' tires and Jim Cramer aired that tall monster over the cars. Dan must have felt the need to outdo him so he blasted right over the cars when he got his turn...landed on 3 wheels with the fourth bouncing down the track. The man seems to have the original Dennis Anderson lead foot lol. It was kinda scary since that big heavy tire was hauling ass and there was only a rusty chain link fence to stop it before it went into the parking lot. After wards I saw the truck and I had never seen such a huge piece of steel just sheared off like that. Never forgot that moment. I'd love to meet dan some day and ask him about his memory of that night. I'm sure he remembers lol one of my favorite trucks.

Mutherfuqbucket We have seen the video clip of what you are talking about. Dan truly was ahead of his time in terms of driving style.

AWESOME !!!! How cool was that to just happen along as a MT legend was putting on a show. What was the event? It looked like a neighborhood block party. Seems like a good time was had by all.

bustyrandit Sorry for the delayed response. It was a car show we just kind of happened upon in the St. Louis area.
