@@king69104 While it's true she shouldn't make assumptions about people before she meets them, her concerns are definitely fair. In some middle eastern countries women are not treated well and are essentially like servents. Women from some places in the middle east don't have control over their lives and have to obey their male 'guardian'. Some women also end up in arranged marriages to men with multiple wives. Men from some of those countries are taught that women are inferior and that it is OK to treat them as such. No parents want their children to end up in a relationship like that. Yes she shouldn't assume that all men from the middle east will not treat her daughter well, however I wouldn't blame her for being worried the guy might not have good intentions. Her fears about middle eastern people seem to be less about race specifically and more about culture and nationality. This is one of the few cases where the mother has a legitimate reason to be cautious about the person her daughter is dating considering the dude admitted to having multiple wives and comes from a part of the world where women are often not seen as equal.
