I've never been more excited for Nintendo's future. Hoping Switch 2 has backwards compatibility and all digital purchases transfer it will make me a lot more confident in future digital purchases on Nintendo.
I want Streetpass or an equivalent and just for Miis to be more relevant again. And old 2000s quirky Nintendo vibes in general. I recently got a Wii and it has so much character. The Switch is a better system technologically but it's presented in such a sterile, corporate way. They've done the hard work and brought the company back from financial disaster. Next system, they're allowed to be wacky again.
completely agree. i think they just needed to center themselves & nail down what people actually love about them broadly with switch & they did a good job. now the challenge is to build on that without wii u’ing themselves by trying to make the whacky stuff the primary color when it needs to be an accent
I love the idea you presented of a more targeted download play, centered around an event to get people excited for a game. I had a number of friends pass on Splatoon 3 that I think would've picked it up if they'd been reminded what drew them into Splatoon in the first place while showering what made 3 special.
exactly! that’s something i run into a LOT. i’m constantly needing to convince friends that they’ll enjoy a game and that feature would make that process a lot easier than them just talking my word for it lol
Switch already addressed that no need to be critical , having a powerful hardware doesn't solve a problem. Forget about the past and focus on the present and future.
The GameCube controller was lacking in its trigger buttons, and I personally didn't care for the angular shape around the C-stick buuuut I don't think they are what people love about the GameCube controller. It's the layout of the ABXY face buttons. It just makes so much sense to make the most frequently used button the natural resting place of the thumb, and have the ancillary buttons surrounding it so you literally don't need to lift a finger.
the point isn’t really to say “this is the most beloved feature” but more so what was impactful but could be improved. a button layout doesn’t fit that criteria & would kinda do the opposite since the button layout is only really a plus if the game is designed around it whereas the trigger buttons are already being designed for by devs in & out of nintendo on top of the back compat aspects which are a bonus rather than the point. in other words, here’s what resonated but could be better. not here’s what is the best thing about given features
What would a scrolling bumper even accomplish? The only thing I can think of is to quickly go through horizontal menu like the ones in TOTK and Echoes of Wisdom.
i could think of a lot of potential applications but at the end of the day, that’s for the game developers to figure out. their whole job is to find cool new ideas that we as players wouldn’t have necessarily thought about
It bamboozles me that they priced the spare dock soo high. It must cost about a usbc to hdmi dongle to make. They'd have sold 50x more of them if the cost was 1/4th.

Street Pass is almost too good of an idea to leave out of the Switch 2.
absolutely. it would be a very unfortunate miss
