Just got my G3 last week and so far I'm very pleased. I keep the screen on 50% brightness and that's perfect for me. Thank you LG for making a big screen smartphone in a easy to handle package. She's a beauty of a device!
Oh I'm so excited to see YOU reviewing this Phone!!! and I haven't even seen it yet... You are just one of the people I wanted to hear from about this particular phone ... Ive been listening to everyone else...but you are a rockstar of a reviewer !!!:)
Hi Lisa, was wondering if the G2 is brighter than the G3? Was looking forward to upgrade, but compared to the other phones on your review, the G3 looked washed out. Maybe LG turned down the brightness in compensation for the quad HD. I'd rather have a brighter screen down here in South Florida.
How much *screen on* time do you actually get out of real world use (medium brightness, watching videos with WiFi on), because some sites just give /general/ stats with screen on and standby but nobody gives just screen on time...
Lisa, How does the camera handle motion photos. In the release they made it seem as if it could capture a fruit exploding... Wanted to know if that was the case
The front of the device is gorgeous, the thinner bezels and bottom lip just look so attractive. Hopefully if Google make another Nexus, they go with LG and they base it off the G3.
I can't find one thing among all the reviews. This is, afterall a PHONE. I would like to see some review regarding the contacts, contact searching and phone dialer of the phone and a comparison with htc and samsung. I might be biased but i think the htc dialer is the most easy to use since it can search for people directly in the dialer and would like to know if LG supports the same features regarding the actual phone part of the device.
Great review Lisa, always tell it like it is. Phone market seems stagnant to an extent nowadays. I think I'll keep my Note 3 for awhile until next year when Snapdragon 810 or whatever comes out. Hopefully new battery innovation improves. Also, I would like to see manufacturer's really work on the software side of things because every flagship phone will have the latest and greatest hardware. Design is subjective and with people using cases it's whatever you prefer. I do like plastic over metal for wireless charging reasons which I have on my Note currently. While it's not ideal in all cases because of the slower charge time, it's really convenient. Bought 4 Nokia wireless charging plates from at&t when they had a sale for $5 bucks each! Nice to see LG include SdCard & removable battery! Big plus for people that want to keep their phones for awhile or hand it down to a family member...
Lisa G , you did this in 2014 looking for a phone with a stylus to sign contracts wigh over int, what would you susgest, lg looking at lg vista 2 or one of samsungs.thanks like your reviews.
Hey Lisa, awesome review as usual. I just wanted to ask if you will be doing a review of the Sony Xperia Z2 phone in the near future as well? I've been looking at a few phones namely the HTC One m8, LG G3 and the Sony Xperia Z2. So id like to hear your thoughts on the Sony phone since i'm having a difficult time deciding which one to get.
I hope in a software update they allow the user to change the resolution of the screen so it won't effect the battery as much, I wish every phone had that feauture.
Great Review! I do have one question about the Korean model of the LG G3, does it get TV reception outside of Korea? Or is the TV reception software set to only pickup Korean TV band signals?
Yup~ it only works in Korea~ for free... you can watch TV almost everywhere in Korea (subway..underground..on the top of mountain...even on an island...) Its not like network TV streaming service that is quite laggy..
Yeah I know, the Note 4 will be a worthwhile phone also. I should travel to the mountains and wait 10 years to see what mobile smartphones will come to be.
Aizen Whiss maybe their won't be a smartphones in the future but instead there will be a smart shoes and smart pants which will have a snapdragon 10000 and clocked at 6ghz but wait 3 month then you will have a bigger and faster shoes and pants.
Hi, Lisa, you've been very helpful to me many times before. In my country carriers take a long time to release android updates, and in some cases they never do. I have a factory unlocked LG, do you think it is possible that if I get my hands on a US carrier SIM card will I be able to get the OTA firmware update?
Lisa, one thing that I would like to see changed in your reviews is the way you shoot the videos. The glare off the device(s) you are reviewing (from the studio lights) is bothersome and gets in the way of the review. Please try and find a solution to this. Another is comparing apples to apples. In the part where you wanted us to see the text differences (@ 12:44) between the LG's 4k display and the HTC's 1080 display you weren't showing us the same part of the page making it impossible to judge the text comparatively. I also was hoping that you would say that you would or wouldn't buy this phone in comparison to the other 3 phones you were testing it against. Maybe this is because it is preproduction and was also a Korean model. But when you do get your hands on a U.S. model I'd love to know which one you would put your cold hard cash on. Maybe a round-up review later in the year would be in order. Thanks.
I noticed while examining the actual phone, that to increase contrast an brightness, you have to turn off the auto brightness function. It can make quite a difference. This phone has options and functions that put it way ahead of the iPhone 6/plus. The 720p resolution of the iPhone 6 is a disappointment and yes, you can see the difference in sharpness between the 6 and the 1080p plus screen. Put them side by side at the Apple store and you'll see. I looked at all the latest high end phones yesterday and find the Sony Z2, to be the most impressive from a point of quality build. So the Z3 can only be as good, judging from the reviews. If only Sony would change the retro UI, it would be in my opinion, the best choice at the moment.
who sells the at&t version that is bundled with the harmon kardin bluetooth headphones Thanks & this review was very informative & easy to watch so thanks you great work
Been with Samsung for awhile now. S2, S3, S4, and was going to get the S5 but just wasnt impressed with the differences between the S4 (current phone), and the S5. So Ive been waiting to see what this whole F series, or S5 Prime was all about. But really thinking about using my first T-Mobile jump to upgrade to the LG G3. Anyone else reminder of R2D2's antenna from that G3?
I wont pretend I understand the technology behind it, but that screen looks amazing, I actually thought for a second that it was one of those paper covers they use to present the home screen on some turned off phones.
MobileTechReview great video as always. It influenced me to go out and buy the g3. I was having a hard time debating between the g3 and the one m8 Harman kardon but thanks to your video I knew the g3 was right
got this phone 1 month ago after i got LG Optimus G Pro cause it didnt work well. but bought this one new. love it. it gets Marshmallow update in December
oscar trujillo Haha you're right, best rated display on any device ever(... like of all time) can be found on the S5, topping the previous best ever screen found on the Note 3. trololol lolol lolol lololol.......
Meaning you can change the display under display..settings.. just like a TV... You know, in order to make it more realistic and less saturated... hence the crown of "Best Display Ever" Come on man over saturation can be adjusted via the settings, washed out viewing angles can't. LG has great displays on TVs but not on phones, and they never have. I don't get it
oscar trujillo Totally. So often i'm doing professional web design and photo editing for commercial application on my phone and I think to myself "gee, why can't they make the colors more realistic, this sucks".
Does it have Qi wireless charging out of box? Does Korean version have LTE in USA? IF so, exactly which model number has this? I don't think the USA version for AT&T won't have Qi wireless charging... so I think I'll get the Korean version...
I have a G2 and that phone looks amazing. Definitely an upgrade. But I wish the phone was a teensy bit smaller. 5.3" would have actually made a big difference. 5.5" is too wide. Less power and processor consumption. More PPI. Why not? I think the screen is great for future proofing alone. 4K is on its way! But probably many more similar smartphone resolutions upcoming so maybe wait for something from Samsung or a smaller G3 later this year.
Only the international version does, the one thats going to be sold at large carries like at&t in the US wont. unless you get that circle case, then its capable, as for the right pad, lg has made a pad just for the lg g3
Dylan Carias well if you already bought your LG, it's pretty simple to know if it is capable, remove the back cover, and look it, on the back there' should either be 2-4 gold squares, if it's 2 then it's not capable, but if it's 4 it does have wireless capability
Commenting on the rear buttons is no right, coz one uses a phone for at least a year, and one gets used to this back button within a week or two, you on the other hand use it maybe a week. The back buttons amazing discovery
I find really stupid putting the headphones port in the bottom, they do it to look different or what? like the hole to take off the cover also in the bottom instead of top, it's really stupid
Almost all the phones from Korean companies targeted for Korean market NEED to have an extra and swappable battery. It's very likely that the US or European model is going to have an unibody device.
I think it is just slightly wider.I had the Note 2 (a 5.5" phone) and now have the Note 3, and for them to cram in that screen at the phones height, I think its just a hair wider than the Note 3.
Spencer Dean I'm 99%sure the note 3 is a hair slimmer they drastically slimmed the bezels and I remember watching several reviewed where they mentioned that.
I've been using this phone for the last couple of days now and I can't really say that my expectations have been met. The only positive thing coming to my mind right now is the Quad-HD resolution which admittedly is great in its own way, but thanks to lack of proper brightness and slightly yellow-ish color reproduction, the screen is far from optimal, let alone perfect. Moreover, given the G3s flagship status, the performance leaves much to be desired, as it produces lag and frequent hiccups performing any tasks, really. Fluidity and responsiveness are a big thing to me, yet unfortunately the G3 just doesn't seem to be able to deliver in that area as well, at least compared to my two last phones, the 5S and the Note 3. The G3 also tends to overheat and its battery life is mediocre, at best.
You have to be absolutely sure. If it was sold to you by Amazon Germany as opposed to t third party or so-called market place vendor, then it should be the European version.
i don't think those hi resolution smartphones are gonna benefit because our eyes cannot find the difference between 350+ ppi and 500+ ppi and it also reduces battery life too!
That home screen widget is super ugly. And if by flat ui you mean TouchWiz with Nova Launcher on it, then yes it is a flat ui.... toggles and everything look just like the S5 just in a different color. LITERALLY just like Samsung phones, but they get praised for being "flat" because of how the homescreen looks....? What the hell guys Was wondering how they would compensate for the screen in respect to battery life... and you answered that! Super dim screen. A bright 720p (or 1080p) display and great battery life would have been a much better route. That screen looks like it has a terrible glare too Camera is on par with what I thought it would be. Still not better than the camera found on the Note 3 or S5, and looks like its also worse than the Z2. But its not terrible. Speaker is cool, but its a stupid move to penalize people with less power (1gb less ram) if they opt for the cheaper 16gb model. Keyboard stuff has been around, but good for them for having it. To sum it up, looks like the S5 will beat out the 16gb variant for the money and the Note 3 for the 32gb variant for the money. LG looks like they're on the right track though I'd like to see you do a battery life update on a US variant as well
I'm sure they will. I'm not against it, I'm just saying call a spade a spade. It's a TouchWiz copy with basically nova launcher and a bad widget. Come on people
Abdul Tahah Moud Al Fahid I don't know Spencer, but he's definitely not a troll. He gave us his opinion of the product in a meaningful way and even praised it where appropriate. The only troll in the room is yourself with the overtly negative comment which makes no sense in the fist place.
Just got my G3 last week and so far I'm very pleased. I keep the screen on 50% brightness and that's perfect for me. Thank you LG for making a big screen smartphone in a easy to handle package. She's a beauty of a device!

Favourite channel for tech, Lisa does great reviews
I'm personally really exited for the new Samsung. Not the phone, the refrigerator.
LOL, don't tell my LG fridge ;)
***** It doesn't have RAM, it has HAM.
Jonathan Davies HAM not RAM, SAM? BAM! DAMN!
MobileTechReview the LG G3 isn't a 4k display as you mentioned around 13:40
love your videos! Lots of detail, no nonsense!
Love your reviews ^^ well balanced, well focused and the insights are way accurate and useful ^^
Hi Lisa, was wondering if the G2 is brighter than the G3? Was looking forward to upgrade, but compared to the other phones on your review, the G3 looked washed out. Maybe LG turned down the brightness in compensation for the quad HD. I'd rather have a brighter screen down here in South Florida.

awesome review as usual Lisa!
On the T-Mobile website it said 32 Gigabytes with three gigs of ram, I don't think they will have a 16 gigabytes.
when is this phone coming to the usa carriers like t-mobile sprint at&t verizon wireless
So battery life is comparable to the G2 then? This is always a major concern for me. I found the G2 battery life to be outstanding.
Lisa would you say it's a big upgrade from the G2 as far as design, hardware, and software? Do you think it's worth the upgrade?
Lisa,
How does the camera handle motion photos. In the release they made it seem as if it could capture a fruit exploding... Wanted to know if that was the case
Would The brightness be a problem say in Arizona?
Great review Lisa. Will u be doing a Vsfight between it and other flagships of 2014? Also do you have any plans on a Xperia Z2 review?
The front of the device is gorgeous, the thinner bezels and bottom lip just look so attractive. Hopefully if Google make another Nexus, they go with LG and they base it off the G3.
Looks great but is it worth to go from G2 to G3?
I can't find one thing among all the reviews. This is, afterall a PHONE. Mobiletechreview is the best phone review on UA-cam, period.
Why not put the other devices on max brightness too, when hou compare them
Great review Lisa, always tell it like it is.

Are you going to review the Oppo Find 7/7a? I'm still not sure if i'm going to buy the Find 7a or the G3
If you get your hands on a OnePlus One, would you mind doing a review for it?
Love your reviews, always brilliant.
I was dead set on this until you mentioned the brightness issues, is it that bad?
Lisa G , you did this in 2014 looking for a phone with a stylus to sign contracts wigh over int, what would you susgest, lg looking at lg vista 2 or one of samsungs.thanks like your reviews.

WOW! That is quite impressive! Shame that it doesn't work with the TV reception signals in other countries. :(
Thank you LG for making a smartphone worthwhile to watch or buy.
...And then the Note 4 will come out with an Snapdragon 805 with a QHD display. Everyone is coming out with "worthwhile" phones.
BatmansButt Butler LG G3 is also coming with supposedly 805 by month of July. Do some research
BatmansButt Butler The Note 4 is at least 3 months off. It doesn't matter right now.
Yeah I know, the Note 4 will be a worthwhile phone also. I should travel to the mountains and wait 10 years to see what mobile smartphones will come to be.

Hi Lisa do you know whether the g2 will get the UI update like the g3?
On color saturation, is having too much a good thing or a bad thing? Is there a limit to how much saturation a Smartphone display can have?
Did you try to scan for tv channels with the built-in antenna and did it work?
I noticed while examining the actual phone, that to increase contrast an brightness, you have to turn off the auto brightness function. It can make quite a difference. Lisa, is that the F400K or F400S model? That way I know which one has the bloat and branding.
how are you, you can tell me if it has fm radio, and which version \it is, F400S, K or L?
thanks
Most of the games run at 1080p maximum anyway. Other Apps aren't optimized for higher resolutions like the new 4k Displays either.
MobileTechReview great video as always. It influenced me to go out and buy the g3. I was having a hard time debating between the g3 and the one m8 Harman kardon but thanks to your video I knew the g3 was right
Hey Lisa or anyone else I would like to know if this would work with T-mobile's HSPA or LTE network?
Y u no Review the xperia z2?
That UI is so like touchwiz!
got this phone 1 month ago after i got LG Optimus G Pro cause it didnt work well. but bought this one new. love it. it gets Marshmallow update in December
Will you review the upcoming Lumia 930?
Our next Lumia review will be the 1320, hoping to get a 930 in.
Love to see a smackdown video of this vs. the HTC M8
You said you can't see the laser auto focus... I can see it. Maybe I'm superhuman. 😱
Tbh, I would choose Samsung or HTC's display over the G3. LG chose quantity over quality, not a good idea.
If you want quality then you wouldn't go with Samsung and there super over saturated phone displays
oscar trujillo Haha you're right, best rated display on any device ever(... like of all time) can be found on the S5, topping the previous best ever screen found on the Note 3.
trololol lolol lolol lololol.......
Spencer Dean yes its nice but not accurate its still over saturated doesn't matter what point of view you see it from. Meaning colors aren't realistic
Meaning you can change the display under display..settings.. just like a TV... You know, in order to make it more realistic and less saturated... hence the crown of "Best Display Ever"

Less power and processor consumption. More PPI. Why not? I think the screen is great for future proofing alone. 4K is on its way! But probably many more similar smartphone resolutions upcoming so maybe wait for something from Samsung or a smaller G3 later this year.
Why do you guys say it's a bad.display when its a 2k display.
HTC One M8, Galaxy s5 or the LG3?? Can someone help?? I'm not that phone savvy :/
compare it to the note 3 , and compare is in a another video with the galaxy s5
I hope you do video what be tech for school and college.
Hi Lisa, great review, the only option that I personally envy on the G3 is the sd card support. Otherwise, I'm still plenty satisfied with my G2
where is the quick remote ir blaster?
StreetkillnHD It's sort of hidden
Is this the 855 or the F400?
can you review lenovo y50???
Can you do a G pro2 vs G3 comparison please.
True. i really haven seen yet some one do it
Anyone notice the backlight bleeding on the LG
Nice phone but the on screen buttons gotta go..
Please Help, does this phone have qi wireless charging? if yes can u recommend any universal qi wireless charging pad please. thanks
K thanks....
Only the international version does, the one thats going to be sold at large carries like at&t in the US wont. unless you get that circle case, then its capable, as for the right pad, lg has made a pad just for the lg g3
I bought mine here in UK, does that mean it doesn't have qi wireless ability to charge, thanks mate
Dylan Carias well if you already bought your LG, it's pretty simple to know if it is capable, remove the back cover, and look it, on the back there' should either be 2-4 gold squares, if it's 2 then it's not capable, but if it's 4 it does have wireless capability
thanks for the help, it does.....
gettin one of these! cant wait!
Love your videos
I think I'd rather go with the gs5 or M8 or E8
I saw rumors that it is compatible up to two terabytes of sd card memory?
I saw them too, but I thought they say 128gb, because there aren't any larger capacity sd cards right now
What is the cat name?
Cat
The cat's name is Gupta.
The HTC M8 bezel so fat especially when you use a browser.
I'm getting this phone on Thursday
I like this UI vs the G2
Commenting on the rear buttons is no right, coz one uses a phone for at least a year, and one gets used to this back button within a week or two, you on the other hand use it maybe a week. The back buttons amazing discovery
I find really stupid putting the headphones port in the bottom, they do it to look different or what? like the hole to take off the cover also in the bottom instead of top, it's really stupid
Which is this model? D855/D850/D851/D852 ?
I don't know. But here are the current ones plus.google.com/104923498734515538555/posts/7Z1Gm18r5iQ
Does it support wireless charging??
You have to buy a special plastic back for the phone.
I hope the phone can get alil bit more brighter then that. If not I have to go with the galaxy s5
If this phone comes in production, I hope LG fixes some problems or issues on the phone if possible. :)
Almost all the phones from Korean companies targeted for Korean market NEED to have an extra and swappable battery. It's very likely that the US or European model is going to have an unibody device.
Worldwide versions will have the same removable back.
Is the G3 wider than the Note 3?!
The G3 is slimmer. It has narrower bezels and a smaller screen so it can't help but be smaller.
The Note 3 is wider than the LG G3.
No G3 is 74,6mm and note 3 79,2mm
Lisa Gade for President!
Fluidity and responsiveness are a big thing to me, yet unfortunately the G3 just doesn't seem to be able to deliver in that area as well, at least compared to my two last phones, the 5S and the Note 3. The G3 also tends to overheat and its battery life is mediocre, at best.
Are you using a model that was released for your country/territory or are you using a Korean import?
I live in Austria and since I ordered it on german Amazon, I reckon I'm using the EU-version of the phone.
You have to be absolutely sure. If it was sold to you by Amazon Germany as opposed to t third party or so-called market place vendor, then it should be the European version.
That screen is too big for my hands. I have an LG G2 and some days I get cramps in my hand by holding it too long.
i don't think those hi resolution smartphones are gonna benefit because our eyes cannot find the difference between 350+ ppi and 500+ ppi and it also reduces battery life too!
what happened to your small finger?
not small one.
Amoled screens tend to saturate colors but they look more appealing to the eye. I would take the Samsung screen over the LG screen.
It doesnt have a 4k display. Its a 2K. its 4 times 720.
I don't see a big difference in 1080p vs 720p im not saying that 1080p isn't better but still the Moto x screen is beautiful
The screen wouldn't look that great at 5inches +. It's a 4.7inch display 720p is fine.
ClaxtonBay123 the 5 inch screen on the DROID ULTRA/MAXX still looks just as nice at 720p.
***** No, it really doesn't.
ClaxtonBay123 yeah, it really does. Have you ever used one?
***** it really depends on the person ...a small change in look even a miniscule change can irk some people >_
Sorry to be "that guy" but no 1080p? Also, great review!
Its almost 2x as 1080p (easier to say that way). its 1440p
That's why I said never mind.
Actually listening is the best way otherwise you look dumb lol
Oh-woah-woah it's a beeeautiful thing!
What the hell guys
Was wondering how they would compensate for the screen in respect to battery life... and you answered that! Super dim screen. A bright 720p (or 1080p) display and great battery life would have been a much better route. That screen looks like it has a terrible glare too
Camera is on par with what I thought it would be.
LG looks like they're on the right track though
I'd like to see you do a battery life update on a US variant as well
I'm sure they will. I'm not against it, I'm just saying call a spade a spade. It's a TouchWiz copy with basically nova launcher and a bad widget. Come on people
Spencer Dean troll!design your own, seems like you know a lot.let see what you got.
Detachable battery probally the best thing about this phone.
WWDC 2012 ... Nuff said ;)

I don't know Spencer, but he's definitely not a troll. He gave us his opinion of the product in a meaningful way and even praised it where appropriate. The only troll in the room is yourself with the overtly negative comment which makes no sense in the fist place.
