You don’t know how deep the answer is until you watch till the end. Timestamps:
    0:00 The passage
    0:55 Our actions affect others
5:36 The church as a body of Christ (we are all connected)
7:28 The weaker body part is just as useful as the stronger
18:12 What Jesus said about who we should invite to our homes

I’m not sure whose idea it was for the yellow closed caption, but that was brilliant. I don’t always have the ability to turn up my volume (now that I think about it maybe God wants me to) this is very helpful.

This answer does not satisfy the question at all, because the 70,000 deaths were a judgement, not a natural consequence. The shared responsibility and impact of the body refers to the natural impact of one part's actions on the others. If I overeat sweets and get diabetes, that's a natural consequence. When it comes to judgement, however, that impact arises from a decision and action which is entirely independent of the original action. (You can see this also in vaccine mandates: "if you don't take this you lose your job", some claim that that is a natural consequence of not taking the vaccine, but no, there is a decision between the original action and the independent action, the decision that you must be punished by losing your job. The action of not taking the vaccine does not lead to your losing your job by itself.)
God offered David 1 of 3 judgements. Those 3 judgements were entirely different in nature from each other. It is clearly obvious that they did not arise because of David's action in taking the census, but because of God's judgment upon him of taking the census.
The judgement was not a part of corporate solidarity.
If it were, Noah and Lot would have been destroyed.
Rather, God was teaching David a lesson or two of leadership as well as purging his temptation to find glory in his position of the responsibility of a leader.
It's much harder to be proud of how many people you are over when your pride has caused the death of a lot of them.
      Other lessons might have been,
      1) that if you are in authority over a body of people, your sins can affect them indirectly and spiritually, far beyond the wrong action you take, i.e. really clean up your act and take it very seriously to be holy because it's not just you anymore and you can't calculate the impact. (Whereas if someone at the bottom of the pile did the same thing the impact would be much more limited); and
      2) it's not how many people you are over that matters, it's how well you look after them. It really hurt David to see them hurt. The lesson went home deeply.
Obviously the big question of how could God judge the righteous people in that 70,000 is the real question. I came here hoping to see some light shed on this.
I think that first of all, we don't know if God included any righteous in that group.
Secondly, if he did, the number of lives saved as a result of David's learning may have exceeded the number of lives lost.
Finally, we know that Jesus went and preached to the spirits that were passed while he was dead. The righteous may all have been saved that way.
Ultimately we need to start from the other end with these questions, knowing that God gave his only begotten son for us, he loves us more than we can imagine, we can be secure in trusting his decision making. Understanding how his decisions work is a part of maturing but not a part of faith.

@@ChristOverAllJeremy K? That's a bit dismissive. Perhaps I can put it this way:
If one of my fingers decides to touch a toxic plant it shoud not, and the poison enters, my whole body suffers. Corporate solidarity.
if one of my fingers sins, and God cuts off that finger and the fingers on the other hand, that's judgement.
The reason the other hand was judged is not because of corporate solidarity, but because God decided that was appropriate.
It's not inevitable. If it was, Noah would have had to be included in the judgement - he was the only part of the body that had not sinned.
God chooses finely how and whom to include in the judgement, it's not just decided by the link of corporate solidarity.
So the question of why God chose to to include the 70,000 is not answered by corporate solidarity.
Maybe your K dismissed me because you didn't understand. If so, I hope you understand now.
Maybe your K dismissed me because you feel who could know better than Sam, or who is this one know-it-all to speak. If so, I hope you remember that we are all priests. We are all guided by the Spirit. We are all here to sharpen and help each other in all humility. Nobody is right all the time.
Maybe your K was because you can see I'm wrong but are too bothered to correct me. if so, please rather correct me. I love finding out I am wrong.
Maybe your K was just a TL;DR. Then you missed out.

The Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit speak to each other and about each other like they are seperate people.
There are passages where God speaks in the first person in the Old Testament, and Jesus will quote these in the first person about himself. He will claim things that are titles of God alone about himself and tells us he can not only hear our prayers but has the ability to answer them too.
Psalm 95:7 - for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture,
      the flock under his care.
Today, if only you would hear his voice,
Isaiah 43:13 - Yes, and from ancient days I am he.
No one can deliver out of my hand.
When I act, who can reverse it?”
Deuteronomy 32:29 - “See now that I myself am he!
There is no god besides me.
I put to death and I bring to life,
I have wounded and I will heal,
and no one can deliver out of my hand.
Two of these are God speaking in the first person, one about God.
John 10:27-30 Jesus speaking, - 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”
It continues to 33 with the Jewish audience picking up stones to kill Jesus, he asks for what good works do you stone me, and they say not for good works, but you being a man make yourself out to be God.
      John 14:13-14
And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
John 5:19-23 Jesus said that he does everything exactly as he see the Father does and does everything the Father does and that Jesus will be judge and the Father will judge no one.
John 8, Jesus says that he saw Abraham and Abraham didn't try to kill him like the Jews were and Abraham was glad to see him. John 8:58, Jesus said that before Abraham was, I AM, which is what God told Moses his name was.
John 1:1,14 Jesus is the Word who was there in the beginning with God, and who was God, who took on flesh and dwelt among us.
A human being is what I am. trenititybrehm is who I am.
God is what the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit are. One God, who is three people.
The only reason the Trinity exists is because scripture teaches that the Father is God, Jesus is God, and that the Holy Spirit is God.
Jesus said, "Destroy this temple (meaning his body) and in three days, I will raise it up!" He did not say his Father would raise him, although the Father and the Holy Spirit are each explicitly given credit for raising Jesus.
Isaiah 43:11, God said there is no savior besides him. Titus 3:6 Jesus is called our Saviour.
John 6:46, Jesus says no one has seen the Father, yet Abraham spoke face to face with God in Genesis 18:19, Moses spoke face to face with God in Exodus 33:11 and Moses and the elders of Israel went up Mount Sinai and saw the God of Israel seated on a throne and ate with him. Jacob wrestled with God in Genesis 32:22-32.
Jesus is the one who ascends and descends out of heaven and the appearances of God throughout the Old Testament is Jesus. This is why he said before Abraham was, I am in John 8:58
Gensis 19:24 "Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah-from the LORD out of the heavens." When LORD is all caps it's using God's holy name in Hebrew, and Abraham was just pleading face to face with God to not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. Gen 19:24 says Yahweh rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah from Yahweh out of heaven.
Jesus is the Yahweh who spoke to Abraham face to face and called sulfur and brimstone out of heaven from Yahweh the Father.
Jesus is God with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus IS the Messiah, friend. The Trinity is what scripture taught from the beginning because it is from the scripture that the idea of the tri-unity between the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit as being God teaches. Not something come up with later.
Mark 1:1-4, the very first verses of the very first chapter of what is cited as the very first Gospel calls Jesus God. It refrences Isaiah 40:3 and Malachi 3:1 where Yahweh says he will send his messanger who will be like a voice in the wilderness to make the way before he himself comes to his temple. Mark says John is that voice in the wilderness, making the way for Jesus. John 1:23 and Luke 3:4 also say the exact same things.
In Mark 10:18, Jesus said,"Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God." Meaning: "You call me good when only God is good, do you understand what you are calling me?" To further the point, Christ then lists the 6 commandments that relate to how people deal with each other and asks the man if he's followed those. The man says yes. Then, instead of listing the 4 commandments on how to relate to God and asking if he's followed those, Jesus tells the man, "Follow me," because following and worshiping Christ is following and worshiping God.
In Mark Jesus heals the paralytic man, but first, he tells him your sins are forgiven. The Pharisees around thought in their hearts this was blasphemy, because only God can forgive sins. Jesus instantly know what they were thinking and called them out on it, and said to prove to you I can forgive sins, get up and walk and the paralytic could walk. Jesus proved he is God for only God can forgive sins, only God knows the hearts of men (Jerimiah 11:20 and 17:10), and only God can heal people. Jesus did all three IN MARK'S GOSPEL, which is often considered the oldest of the four.
Read Hebrews 1:8-12. Old Testament scriptures are quoted that are talking about God creating the universe, and Hebrews 1:8-12 quotes them and attributes the Father calling Jesus God, the Lord who created the everything, who is eternal.
Hebrews 1:10-12 Is directly quoting Psalm 102:25-27, where the Psalm is talkling about Yahweh (God) and Hebrews is talking about Jesus, the Son.
      Philippians 2:5-7
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
      1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifested in the flesh,
      Justified in the Spirit,
      Seen by angels,
      Preached among the Gentiles,
      Believed on in the world,
      Received up in glory.
      2 Peter 1:1
Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:
      Revelation 1:17-18
And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.
      Isaiah 48:16
“Come near to Me, hear this:
      I have not spoken in secret from the beginning;
From the time that it was, I was there.
And now the Lord God and His Spirit
      Have sent Me.”
(God is speaking, saying he was there from the beginning, and that the Lord God and His Spirit sent him. The Trinity in the Old Testament.)
These next passages are about the Holy Spirit being a seperate person from the Father and the Son, and also being God.
      John 14:26
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
      John 15:26-27
But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. 27 And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
      John 16:13-15
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.
2 Samuel 23:2-3 (David calling the Spirit God)
“The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me,
And His word was on my tongue.
3 The God of Israel said,
The Rock of Israel spoke to me:
‘He who rules over men must be just,
Ruling in the fear of God.
Acts 5:3-4 (Peter calling the Spirit God)
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? 4 While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.”

I worked as a janitor in the church, and it was an honor. Every true minister should start from there. In that job, you'll learn things that you'll never learn in seminary. Being a janitor shows you the true state of a congregation and exposes the wolves and hypocrites. Washing toilets is awful, but it is worth it. Now that I'm doing well in life, I can never forget those days and I highly respect and treat janitors, garbage collectors, sewer cleaners, and the unfortunate in general more than pastors, CEOs and Doctors. When I give, I give to those, not to reach and famous, including UA-camrs. As a UA-camr myself, I don't accept a penny from anybody. Who wants to give, I tell them to go give to those who need it the most. The Lord has blessed me greatly, my service to him is nothing compared to his blessings and grace. How can I take any money for serving him. I'll wash toilets FREELY and gladly if he gives me that opportunity.

You my friend are an example right out of the sermon on the mount.
The world can be split into two categories…
      Givers and takers.
“Takers” can fill an arena 10 times over.
Givers can barely fill an elevator.
Givers are those who don’t need to win.
      Don’t need to compete.
      Don’t need notoriety.
Get their reward from God and are satisfied individuals.
Takers view givers as weak, suckers, frowned upon, to be taken advantage of.
      Takers seek unearned rewards.
Unfortunately even in the church most people are takers.
      Sometimes even the pastor.
Churches that are lead by givers are a rare but powerful thing.
Often they are overtaken by the spirit of the taker and become tombs. All service and no Jesus.
They are like Christmas trees. All shiny but disconnected from the root.
      I don’t think I’ve ever written a comment to a “giver”.
      You are quite rare!
I’m glad to know you exist
      Our stories are similar.

My father in the spirit and my mentir taught me the exact same thing as you. I used to resent cleaning because i was aspiring to more. He taught me a lot of spiritual truths that i could apply.
He was always saying :"Keep pouring your love. Do everything for the Lord. And you will see, even the toulet bowl will sign AMEN!"
He was right. One day i saw him wash a bathroom.
You need to understand.. this man is a CEO. He was the head of an organisation. So he had removed his over coat from his suit, turned his sleeves of his shirt, and was washing the toilet. I got insulted and ask him to let me do it.
He turned around, and told me with a most serious face:"Why do you want to take that blessing from me? Dont i deserve to be blessed by serving others too? Do you think its undernearh me? Do you think that you (i was the janitor of this place, he had hired me in that position) are underneath everyine because of what you do? I am telling you, we are all here to serve you. You have the higest place aming us.
That teaching profoundly changed me. I now serve God exactly the same no matter what i do.
I am so blessed that God put me on his road.
      Thank you for sharing this.
I can see that this teaching is actually from the Holy Spirit and is all around the globe.
      Our God is great!

      I have not spoken in secret from the beginning;

      I have not spoken in secret from the beginning;

Usually you'll see Sam in his "mean" demeanour facing those Muslims, Jehovah Witnesses, Mormon and that is because those people are trying to twist and bend scripture but once in a while, you will clearly see the Sam that is moved by the Spirit. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying what Sam does to those Muslims and other people are wrong, he presented his arguments fairly and respectfully as much as possible, hell, I don't think I can do better than that, I'll lose my shit when I face with that kinda of intellectual dishonesty. What I'm saying is, I love that Sam is moved by the Spirit and I think we should take a page from him and pray that we too are moved by the Spirit to do what God tasked us to complete and complete it faithfully like how Sam did.

Us Muslims don't try to twist anything you are a liar for saying that.
What we actually do is read what the book actually says, it's xhristians who try to twist it because it goes against your ideology.
      Prime example
"Jesus": the father is the only true "god"
Xhristians: the father the son and the holy spirit are the only true "god"

Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
      1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:

      Revelation 1:17-18
And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.
      Isaiah 48:16
“Come near to Me, hear this:
      I have not spoken in secret from the beginning;
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will gu ide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine.

I read this before. But until today I didn't fully understand it. I never understood it this way. It truly moved me. It's true, whatever I do will affect others in a good & bad way. In this way it makes you understand your responsibility. That you must think & be careful of the choices we make. It's huge. The part where in Thanksgiving or Christmas we don't think of enviting the homeless, the handicap, or those that don't have any where to go. They may go unnoticed to us but not to Jesus. He will reward us for doing this.
It just shows you the perfect , wise, loving and kind & caring heart of our Lord. If everyone took time to understand & took time to care & do this we would do alot of good. It's huge. It's so simple it goes unnoticed. Yet is very important, is priceless is huge. It truly moved me. I just hope I never forget it. That the Holy Spirit will convict everyone that listens to this video, this discussion & gives gets them convicted of this huge truth. That he will convict us & give us the heart of Jesus. Thank you Lord Jesus 🙏

What makes David a role model leader is he realises he has grievously sinned against God, repented sincerely, and took his punishments with due humility.
God made him suffer for his sins but lifted him after because he was contrite and humble before the Lord.
His abiding faith in God never left him since childhood.

      2 Peter 1:1
Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who have obtained like prec ious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ:
      Revelation 1:17-18
And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.
      Isaiah 48:16
“Come near to Me, hear this:
      I have not spoken in secret from the beginning;

God gave David a choice, he could run for 3 months and it was over. Instead he chose for him the easy path. But and here comes the kicker. 24 And again the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah. Great video an eye opener for us all.

All the creation reflect this. All species, animals or plants, the weather, the seasons, oceans, sea, rivers, lakes, sun, moon, stars, ALL is linked and harmoniously function proper for the good of the whole, every piece with his own purpose in the whole. If one thing is shaked, the others suffer its comsequences. This is so here and in the heavens, where is assigned a role to each angel to be properly executed for the good of the whole.

      I have not spoken in secret from the beginning;
From the time that it was, I was there.
And now the Lord God and His Spirit
      Have sent Me.”
(God is speaking, sayi ng he was there from the beginning, and that the Lord God and His Spirit sent him. The Trinity in t he Old Testament.)

Another possibility is that David’s confidence in the flesh rather than in God made its way down to the men in his army (because he was a leader/their head) and those men placed their confidence in the flesh rather than God and as a result they died because of their confidence was in the flesh rather than God.

It was the Angel of YHVH who judged and took the lives of 70,000 men of Israel with His sword and pestilence.
    1 Chronicles 21:12
The Angel of YHVH was over Jerusalem about to strike when David confessed, repented and prayed for YHVH’s grace for his subjects, asking that YHVH’s judgement fall on him and his house instead to redeem Israel.
God saw David’s heart was to stand in the gap, to receive the just judgement , in place of Israel, on himself.
That is the same desire of YHVH.
About 1,100 years later this same Angel of YHVH, being the Word of God, the same eternal one-essence (only begotten) co eternal with the Father was conceived by the will of the Father the capacity of the Holy Spirit of YHVH in Miriam, a godly virgin Israelite, descendent of David and born in Bethlehem in Judah. This is Jesus the Redeemer of mankind those who confess Him and appeal to YHVH for a clean conscience. He who has received all authority and dominion glory and power.

Reminds me of the separation of catholic and Christian and the significant difference between how one engages in dialogue with God. It’s not the same body. Christians don’t have a pope. Christians do not “pray the rosaries 📿”, Christians do not “ask dead mary and dead saints to pray for them”. Please…the issue is you are deprived of a relationship with the Holy Spirit EVERYTIME. What kind of marriage would a person have if they’re constantly using a third person as means of communication ? Where is the intimacy if you are RARELY engaged in dialogue?

Just to answer here if you believe Jesus is the living God, then Mother Mary and all the saints are living through his promise of eternal life and so are not dead, Catholics ask for their intercession so the Rosary is very powerful if you understood it truly you would know it’s the meditation of the mysteries of Jesus life on earth, Mother Mary’s role is to bring souls to her son Jesus Christ, we as Catholics pray to God and Jesus is the centre of our faith every mass we are re living the last supper and we receive the sacraments so please don’t judge Catholics as a whole. The reason there is a pope is because this was who replaced Peter and so the Catholic Church will remain as Christ left it until he returns, no apology just some facts

      I have not spoken in secret from the beginning;
2 Samuel 23:2-3 (David calling the Spirit God)
“The Spirit of the Lord spoke by me,

3 The God of Israel said,

      Have sent Me.”
(God is speaking, saying he was there from the beginning, and that the Lord God and His Spirit sent him. The Trinity in the Old Testament.)
These next passages are about the Holy Spirit being a seperate person from the Father and the Son, and also being God.
      John 14:26

The Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit speak to each other and about each other like they are seperate people.
There are passages where God speaks in the first person in the Old Testament, and Jesus will quote these in the first person about himself. He will claim things that are titles of God alone about hims elf and tells us he can not only hear our prayers but has the ability to answer them too.
Here is the law requiring an offering before any census is taken. An the purpose is to avoid a plague.
Exo 30:11-17 And Yahweh spake unto Moses, saying, When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto Yahweh, when thou numberest them; that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them. This they shall give, every one that passeth among them that are numbered, half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary:

It’s strange how people routinely forget the actual arc of the Bible when discussing subjects like this. They forget the afterlife and resurrection. They forget everyone dies. Maybe this would be unfair if our souls weren’t eternal or if Christ didn’t save us, but that’s not the story we’re appealing to.
Job’s family is with God in Heaven.

For the people who think we all came from adam and eve go watch the studies of Arnold Murray at shepherds chapel on Genesis chapters 1-6. You wont regret it. The word "Adam" is used in two different ways. One being a specific man and one being mankind as a whole.

    Can a man judge God?
Can he instruct Him in the best way to do?
    Can he correct Him?
    God forbid he try!
    God is not an American!
    Subject to the constitution.
He’s not your buddy where you can disagree with and still be friends.
Disagreeing with God is really a sin.
Because you haven’t taken into account that He’s all wise, all knowing, correct in His judgment at all times.
Knowing what needs to be done.
He’s not like the president where we can question all his actions because of free speech.
God doesn’t believe in “free speech!
The tongue can take down a nation, an organization, a community, a family, even you yourself.
    Free speech never!
    Wise speech? Always!
Asking God “why’d You do this and that?” is permissible but also reveals how you see Him.
“Trust in The Lord ….. Lean not to your own understanding!”
We don’t have the equipment to accurately assess God.
If you stormed heaven with a list of accusations against God, and He answered them one by one, you would tremble, be seriously embarrassed, and apologize for your arrogance.
    God is greater than you!
His ways are not your ways. Nor are His thoughts!
You can ask God questions but you can’t question God!
Faith is knowing that God knows what He’s doing.
    BTW, a most beautiful video!

It was actually satan the one who tempted David and the one who declared the punishment, but it was the Angel of Yahweh the one who stopped the "other angel" from extending the pestilence to the whole Israel .

The Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit speak to each other and about eac h other like they are seperate people.
      I have not spoken in secret from the beginning;
15 All things that the Father has a re Mine.

If you read the Bible, He teaches you how to live. The Bible has been the number 1 selling book for decades and no one reads it. We all go to church, listen to the readings, shake our head in agreement, maybe even say Amen and Hallelujah, listen to the head of the church explain the readings. As soon as it’s over, all of that information is lost and look down on people who don’t attend church and wag our fingers trying to shame them.
This is not what Jesus taught. But in our stubbornness and self righteousness we think we are evangelizing and witnessing.

God did NOT kill 70,000 men for King David's sin. Man has projected onto God, Man's, justice for all of recorded history. Jesus came and revealed the true heart and mind of God...and the God Jesus revealed would not and did not kill 70,000 people.

Its not JUST the family connection. David was not a pruvate citizen once he was crowned. He was the head of a country and it all belongs to him, just as now the president is head of us and the whole country belongs to him. Politicians do not realize how GOD hold them responsible... not to mention, we gave them that position.
