Haven’t watched the video yet I will watch later when I have some quiet time. I just came to let the ad play and click like. Vintage carping is the good stuff.
Promised to upload more this year too, this was so enjoyable.
Great to have the old Sweetcorn Kid back. Best fishing videos on UA-cam.
Wow, thanks! Really appreciate that Andrew!!
@@thesweetcornkid266 I only use traditional tackle and your videos match my ideals closely.
There are a million channels about sitting behind a bank of carbon and electronics, yours is much more interesting for me. Well edited also, you must spend some time on the opening and closing sequences. Long may it continue.
By the way we're you ever on security at the dockyards?
Never worked at the dockyards, but if I did, imagine the fishing!!
Beautiful work Stu in all respects. Captured all that’s good and then some.
Many thanks! So pleased you enjoyed my little film.
Amazing video Stu !I What a great scenery.
It really is! Love this place, not too familiar, but I know how to unlock one or two of its secrets when I visit. That's good enough for me.
Really nice video thanks for sharing.. I used to love fishing this venue. It's so peaceful. About 13 years ago whilst fishing there I was packing up as dusk started to fall. Bizarrely I felt a real sense of urgency to leave , I can't explain why but as I stood up with my bag and looked across the lake I saw a young boy about 8 years old wearing Victorian clothing, black hat, jacket and waistcoat. I could see he was wearing shorts and was sitting with his knees up by his chest and his arms hugging his knees. I saw him for at least five seconds and then lost sight of him. .. never seen him again but I remember being really upset by the while affair. To the best of my knowledge and speaking to the chap I was fishing with nobody else has seen him. Anyway thanks for the video ..
It's a wonderful place, and I'm careful not to overdo the visits, thus keeping the magic alive. I can see how the place could be a little eery. I find myself looking around sharpish every time I hear a twig break.
Always delightful to watch an angler who so intimately knows his quarry, and uses keen observation, years of experience, and a sharp mind to outwit the wily carp! Not only so, but you have a wonderful way of conveying that experience so beautifully through great video storytelling. Kudos, and keep 'em coming!
Amazing words Joe, really appreciate it buddy!!!
Enjoy the simplicity in your fishing videos. I float fish or free line for carp. Stunning places u get to fish.
It's the best way David, catch them on your terms. Fish however you feel happiest!!
Excellent video! I didn’t think it was possible, but you make me love carp fishing even more. Cheers
Great to hear! Thanks very much!!
Your videos are so inspiring. You are continuing the Chris Yates tradition of absorbing yourself in your fishing and this comes across in every video. I'm also a Pompey boy who uses vintage cane and fibreglass rods coupled with my ever growing collection of Mitchell reels - I've gone back to how I fished when I was a teenager in the 80's and still have all the original gear I used. Hope I bump into you along the Wally in the new season! Just finished your first book and it was awesome, you are also a talented writer.
Humbled by your kind words Mike. Thanks so much for the support, and yes, hope I bump into you at some point.
Perfection Stu, for me these type of videos are your finest work, the whole package just works a treat. Thanks for posting.
Glad you like them! Sure to make more over the coming weeks and months!!
That was great....thanks mate.
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it.
Ah Stu that was absolutely lovely to watch these are the type of videos I associate with you and I do realise how much work that goes into making them from all the different camera angles and the superb editing to finish them off and congrats on the three captures by the way, until next time take care and stay safe my friend.
Thanks Clive, had to get this vintage trip in mostly for those who've followed me since the start, feel like I owed it to them, and there will be more too.
just stumbled across this and really enjoyed
Welcome aboard! Stick around, there will be more!!!
Happy 70th Stu. 🤣 Great video pal.
lol, thanks buddy!!
For me these are your best videos. Love the tackle, the venue and the fish...oh and your editing is quite (very?) good too :-) Compared to me your still a (sweetcorn) KID!! I don't get to the water as much as I'd like now so I'll watch you catch 'em instead. Oh and Happy B day.
Thanks for the birthday wishes, and for you kind words. Can't thank you enough!!
Thanks Stu, good to see the vintage tackle out again, especially the cap. Three lovely looking fish, well done mate. Very enjoyable.
Glad you enjoyed it mate, hopefully we can wet a line there together at some point!
@@thesweetcornkid266 That would be good.
What a shame that more people haven't had the feel of a cane rod under pressure all the way down to the reel.
The clutch on a new Mitchell 300 wasn't any better than a 50 year old one. 10,000,000 reels that taught anglers how to back wind when playing a fish. I have 3 50+ year old 300's and 2 have clutches that loosen and the other tightens.
If you don't reel in when the clutch is letting line out you didn't get line twist.
It really is a unique feeling isn't it Steve. You've reminded me how nice it is. I shall be renewing my rod licence over the coming days, so a little trip to a local pool, armed with a Mark IV and a 300 is definitely in order. Watch this space.
