- Today we Insulate my Garage door because it's been super hot! All This was done under $80 (+ a Jon to help, haha). My garage is my Work shop and I do not want to deal with the heat this summer so adding Insulation to the garage door was a MUST! about 15 degrees cooler now! Insane!
My Garage had 2 sized panels
Outer Panel - 47"x20"x1.5"
Inner panel - 42"x20"x1.5"

Another very cool life hack. You can also paint your garage pure white from the outside, so it can reflect the sunlight a lot and because of that it will keep your inside garage 11 to 17°C/20 to 30°F. Cooler automatically compared to a darker coloured garage. Great video.
I did the same thing, then did a layer of sound deadening, and then a layer of the silver insulation that looks like bubble wrap.
It’s been great.
Like some one else mentions aluminum tape for the hinges and the sides of the garage panels will help to insulate as well
Yup! Definitely planning on that, though I love my aluminum tape and that shits expensive lol.
I also added in a gable exhaust fan for the attic above garage. It has made a massive difference in the radiant heat that comes in from the ceiling.
Nice!!! I’ve been wanting to spray insulation up there, but a fan sounds way the hell cheaper 👌
@@flyryde If you ever get shipping peanuts with the amount of stuff you order, throw those in the attic in between the rafters. It's free insulation that does the trick and you can't argue with free.
Don't forget to use aluminum tape along the ends of the foam not just to secure it but to block more heat out. Plus putting the garage door seal trim kit around the outside of your garage door trim will create a better seal to block out noise and outside heat. I can't add a pic to my comment but Amazon has it for like $20 n I highly recommend it.
Thanks Mars!
I just bought a mini split which is a home ac unit . But I’m putting in my 3 car garage . With those panels should help too
That’s what’s next. Gotta sell a whole bunch of books if I’m gonna drop the bucks in that, and I figured this had to be done first anyway 👍
You should have the tension on your spring adjusted for the extra weight you added to the door. It will save your spring and your door opener. 👍👍
I don't know anything about garage doors other than they open and close. The material they used isn't it just Styrofoam?
Do I even have a spring? 🤔 lol
@FlyRyde Hello friend, I really like your videos, continue like this and you will go very far. I would like a question, will you give me your opinion? I am indecisive in buying some sequential led strips since you have tried them which one lights up more than day the sequential diode dynamic strips or the profile pivot switchback xsb? I would appreciate your help with this.
@FlyRyde Thanks for the consultation friend how rude you are. You have lost one less buyer and follower of your channel.
If that insulation had a foil liner on one side then the foil goes on the inside of the foam. The theory of heat insulation is that air is the best insulator, in this case the foam is the air and the foil reflects any residual heat. Steel door , air gap , reflective foil is the correct order. If the foil is touching the door its useless.
If there was no foil liner then line the inside with foil and dont let it touch the steel door in any part.
FOR REAL. U SHOULD LOOK UP DIY EXTRUDED POLYSTYRENE SPEAKERS!!! U can make ur insulation into a SLAMMIN shop system
Gonna make a helmet and full body suit with this stuff ill be set for the summer
Paint it blue and red and transform into a Mack Truck!
@@flyryde if I do will you do my headlights?!
@@brianlow7235 yup. I’m making a big new move soon, and I’ll open the doors to all kinds of custom jobs I’ve haven’t been able to take on until now (then).
That plastic you peeled off is meant to stay on...
Why?
It's part of the thermal insulation properties 😣😣😣
Only thing I found when I read up on it, is that it acts as a vapor barrier.
I know you won’t get it, but I’d rather have a white back ground in my videos, then a vapor barrier 👍
@@flyryde I get it, and it's your choice. I just mentioned it because it's there for a reason is all 😀
Did you read my mind 🧐
Yes 🧞
Would u like some barber services
I’ll show my wife this lol. She cuts my hair quarterly, lmao
I thought u were still rockin ur quarantine style. I can never get to that point when growing it out,I can never get it past my ears without folding
I think I focus so little attention on what me or my things look like, that I would forget to bother with it unless she offers. Except shaving my face lol. I start to look homeless.
