I'm not a muslim but when Kier Starmer said Israel has the right to cut off food, water and electricity to Gaza then he lost my vote for life. I am now politically homeless as i'll never vote conservative either.

I'm someone who was a Labour Councillor for 28 years until May last year. Feelings are running extremely high especially amongst the young voters.

If the leader of Labour cannot take a stance that upholds International law and calls out what Israel is doing, I simply do not care for them. They have been quite happy to sit back and do nothing while protestors flock to shadow cabinet ministers and MPs who have zero control over world affairs. Likewise closer to home Rishi has no respect or concern for UK citizens either, a PM who was caught laughing at the plight of working class mortgage payers in PMQs this week, laughing in the face of a women struggling with NHS decline last week, and who regularly shows absolute contempt for working people in this country. Is that really the PM you want to represent your values?

@@toshtosh9482 not really, Starmer has infinitely more respect and understanding for working people in this country than a rich kid who grew up a multimillionaire and married a billionaire. And party specifics, dozens and dozens of Labour MPs have tried to pressure Starmer and the conservative government to shift position on Gaza, whereas almost no single conservative MP has demonstrated the same. I didn't agree with Starmer's position on a ceasefire but his cabinet were at least proactive in recommending solutions, the conservatives have shown absolutely no interest whatsoever, it is also well known the party has a problem with Islamophobia.
The labour cabinet are supporters of Israel and paid by them.

In our local northern town we have made a collective stance that zero votes will go to Labour or Conservative. We have told the local Labour candidate to expect nothing.

My own personal belief is that the antisemitism issue in labour was exaggerated , there was a small issue as was found with enquiries. I believe the Jewish people have understandable sensitivities and their own beliefs on what is antisemitism is and that sometimes includes criticism of Israel or being pro-Palestinian and sympathetic to the Palestinian cause but objectively I don’t at all accept that Jeremy Corbyn was a huge threat that was going to force Jews due to hostility/violence , anti Israeli sentiment whatever, to leave the country as it was presented by for example Jonathan Sachs the rabbi and in the media.
What absolute nonsense.
Corbyn had a history of antisemitism and the EHRC concluded the Labour party discriminated against Jewish people.

In my opinion, all MP’s/Councillors that did not vote for an immediate Ceasefire to stop the Genocidal War in Gaza will not get any Muslim votes. However, this is not just a voting tactic persuade by religion but I believe the wider public will also do the just and moral thing and stand with humanity…meaning NOT vote for Labour or Conservative 🙏🏼

Muslim voters are seething with anger over Keir Starmer's stance on Gaza. It's not just a question of being ignored. Many feel that Labour Party's stance to be immortal, totally biased and lacking coherence. Rachael is wrong to suggest that they will have no where go, because Tories are even more revived. That is certainly true and many will vote for smaller parties or not vote at all. I'm certainly one of those voters.

The problem with the argument that people shouldn't vote on a single issue is undermined by the fact that Labour is promising to continue Tory policies.

What most people do not understand is Ukraine has been blanketed under extreme Soviet corruption for generations due to its wealth and not having clear statehood after the collapse of the Union but there has been a shift with powerful figures in the West emerging as beneficiaries of this corruption, just look at Hunter Biden's history with the Ukraine he wasn't there enjoying the local delicacy, he's basically entangled in a sophisticated money laundering ring and the US simply thought by entering the Ukraine into NATO membership would legitimize the West as the beneficiaries of this corruption however Russian Oligarchs objected leaving us with a conundrum in choosing half a dozen of one or a sixth of the other in which to support. However with Gaza we have the West supporting criminals undermining international law with extreme impunity

I am a muslim voter and a natural labour supporter in that I am quite left leaning and liberal on most issues. I voted for labour under Brown, Miliband, and Corbyn. I would never vote for Keir "Israel must have that right, does have that right" Starmer. Nor will just about every friend, family member and acquaintance I know.
Blair and Starmer are the two labour leaders I have detested like no other.

As an aside Britain did actually participate in the invasion of the muslim country of Iraq within my lifetime. It is also currently participating in the bombing of another Muslim country - Yemen. I joined the Workers Party UK and would love to see a coalition government of principled parties like Green, Heritage, Workers.
I am not from the UK and am not terribly familiar with their politics, however, it's clear to me that Rachel has an icky way about her. There seems to be a perceived air of superiority on her side that seems unjustified to me given the baseless assumptions (that a random caller on the line was able to expose) she made, as well as her general lazy demeanor towards an important issue. Barry is partially right, politicians should be consistent and principled. We were told we had an international rules based order, and Starmer said that he was going to put humanitarian law at the centre of foreign policy. But it is strikingly clear that these "rules" and "humanitarian law" does not apply to Israel. For many years Labour lost my vote over the Iraq war, and they have once again lost my vote over their immoral, unprincipled and criminal position on Gaza.

No matter what Starmer and cabal do Labour must feel we’re important and not been heard. This hypocrisy is enough. There is no opposition currently.
I’m no expert but if they truly swaying which ever way opinion polls suggest (they’re not) wouldn’t that make them the peoples Democratic Party which they are supposed to be and upholding the voices of their constituents. When did these parties become an ultimate stance on one thing whether people liked it or not? Is there function not to do what the people who vote for them want them to do? Isn’t that the whole point t of voting?

@@keiranmorrisart no! I am a man of principles in my life, lost many a friend based on said principles and left jobs due to said principles. I hear how you came to that conclusion due to how I’ve wrote the statement but I’m trying to say - if you are put in a position to represent the views of the people and the people are all saying they stand strongly against what YOU are now voting for (which was never the stance of your people who you are representing) AND you previously never expressed you personally had these views yourself but all of a sudden now do, you are not doing what you were put in position to originally do which is represent the people who put you there. Tongue twister but this should make more sense. To say otherwise, just say you agree with what HE is voting for - which is not a labour stance.
