I enjoyed your video thoroughly. Thank you.
I really enjoyed your game as well, and really look forward to Inside The Moonlight Box :)
I second that :)
People claim the song is copyrighted by you and are afraid to play it in their gameplays
To be a omnipotent being, the guy has some real singing skills
Not omnipotent. If he can be stopped then the owl ain't omnipotent.
song kinda hella bop doe
That song SLAPS
The song sucked the horror out of the game personally
@@Retr0Bunn13 Actually, thus game truly HAS no ending, as the player can just subject the NPCs to eternal torment by replaying the game.
There is a known demon from myth and lore, his name is Stolas and his focus was astronomy and herbology.
wait
so that demon lord, Stolas, from Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss is based on a actual demon? I thought Viviz made him up lmao
can you give me more details about his myth? Im afraid of what I might find if I google ''Stolas'' now....
@@Lumiblanc I think he's from the Ars Goetia lore of demons.
@@Lumiblanc if you've ever heard of the Ars Goetia, he's from there. It has *loads* of interesting demons going on there, some of which don't even seem that evil all things considered.
One of the earliest books on the Goetic demons is the Pseudomonarchia Daemonum by the Dutchman and physician/doctorJohann Weyer
(He was one of the few cool Gothic-ish things to originate from the Netherlands, and coincedentally, one of the first to refer to "Witches" as people with mental illnesses, deluded by the devil into believing themselves to be magic users. and thus victims rather than criminals in a way, being opposed to the horrible practices of the Malleus Malleficarum.
Doesn't mean he didn't believe in demons, however. Just that the devil wasn't *as* powerful as mankind made him out to be.)
The title translates to False Monarchy of Demons, as it is a guide to the hierarchy of Hell and divides the demons into Dukes, Barons, Ministers, Kings, Princes and a single Knight named Furcas.
There are around 72 demons, though Weyer only mentioned around 68.
Regardless, he gives a lot of description on them from how they look to how to conjure them and call upon their services.
Which, in a way, can be done "divinely legally" so to speak. It has to do with the original meaning of the word "Exorcist", which means someone who makes others obey a law or oath.
So an exorcist makes a demon obey the Law of God, and apparently this means you don't have to just force demons away.
Even still, there's a number of demons for which special care has to be taken. There's one Demon who, if you mess up the ritual, will kill you and everyone you know. He's the most extreme here.
Also Aamon has a breath death ray if i recall correctly.
On the other hand, there's for example Orobas who is said to "Never lie nor deceive the conjuror, and does not permit the conjuror to be tempted by other spirits".
Or Agares who is described as an old man riding a crocodile who takes pleasure in teaching immoral expressions.
(In a way, a grandpa who likes to talk sh*bleep*)
He can also create earthquakes. I forgot what else he can do though.
The Goetia is also described in a grimoire known as the Lesser Key of Solomon, after King Solomon who was said to wield command over demons thanks to, among others, a magical ring.
The Ars Goetia in a similar line of scriptures/grimoires as the Ars Paulina, which describes "The spirits of the Sky" though it doesn't exclusively entail air spirits, and Ars Divina, which relates to angels-- though they are much less known.
Sorry for the wall of text here if it was too much/too boring, but i hope you found it interesting regardless and may spur further interest.
Oh also bonus knowledge regarding King Solomon:
According to some stories/mythology/whatever it doth be, he once had ownership over a creature called the Shamir-- essentially a funny little worm creature whose body can erase matter by rubbing against it.
According to the stories, the Shamir was created by God so that the temple built in his honor would not be built with tools that could be used to kill people.
It was also said to help in sharpening jewels and the like.
I was wondering if Mr. Brown was also voiced by HB's Stolas character
@@jurtheorc8117 I know I’m cutting in but plz tell me more. I’m very interested
Very interesting and in-depth explanation of Dinner With An Owl always wondered what it’s story and ending where trying to say and now I know, and understand it’s story incredible explanation GamerSault have a fantastic day.
Dinner with a owl? I need to hear this story
@Orfia kua 7 no thanks
@Orfia kua 7 please leave
@@renerivera9715 wtf did kua say?
12:50 Damn that owl can sing😳😔🤟
I love ur videos and ur voice. But I have one question: Do u play every Game which u explain, or do u take Lets Plays/gamematerial or maybe theories from others?
(Sorry for my english but I am not an native speaker)
I love Mr. Brown's accent so much...
The song is a bop I don’t care 😂😂😂
Why the song lowkey bang?
facts
“We can finally leave because mr grown is dead”
*me checks the time on the video
12 minutes
Me:business men don’t die
They negotiate with the devil
Is it okay for me to suggest a game to cover? I would want you to cover the game Blank dream and the endings for it please. When you have the time over the other videos you have planned on doing.
Im a games student and watching this, im just mentally picking the game design apart and analysing all of it. Its a curse, i do it with every game and now the illusion is broken
Are we sure Mr. brown isn’t stolas?
I see a lot of people mentioning how the entity could be Stolas, from the personality and his interests maybe, but his appearance is closer to Andras, another demon from the Ars Goetia.
So Stolas' last name is Brown? Pretty dull.
This was oddly very creepy
0:23 He said the thing
Mr. Webb's song slaps
Could we see you play this game please
never explained anything...just narrated a gameplay and then speculated
do the norwood suite series
I thought the owl demon was Stolas who is an astrologer.
Trinston was here..
Furry artists be like: the owl looks hot
I literally sketched a whole game idea and now I'm hearing it been taken by a mystery game. Great -_-
5min would do
...STOLAS?!
I think it was us who is the owl lmao
Hey can you check out this really old game I used to play? It's called Baroque.
''The Owl's house or something. I don't know, I don't watch Disney...''
Lmao
Yes
Thoery:
The Owl originally possessed the master of this mansion, either through a summoning or a curse. Stella and Josie are the wife and daughter of the original master, and therefore cannot leave the house while the owl entity 'lives.'
The owl's song says it all started with a drink of water. That seemed to hit Declan hard. Maybe the entity took over the mansion's master through a potion that looked like water. Being a servant of the house, it could be that Declan blames himself for this curse because he gave the master the water.
It's also worth mentioning that the business partner(s) are never offered water by ANYONE.
For me the most mysterious and interesting part of this is how all the business partners look and sound the exact same
And Declan is deprived of water perpetually. Hence why he exlaims "I'm so thirsty" whenever the plot fails.
@@justmegumi34 maybe the business partner is the original owner.. his soul is trapped in this cycle of trying to return home (without even knowing)and the water was the original source of memory loss.. he never introduces himself, he is being addressed instead all the time yet he still looks the same
For me i believe he is a demon which fits perfectly and we already know which demon he is.Mr Brown i think is Stolas who was apart of the Ars Goetia from The Lesser Keys Of Solomon the Goetia were like princes of hell and there is further proof that he is Stolas he says he enjoys watching the stars meaning he may like astronomy and so does Stolas he was known for his love of astronomy and plants further proving that Stolas may be Mr Brown
Vc fumou o que para falar um monte de bosta?
Whoever thought of the lyrics to that song is a fucking artist.
ye ikr
Yeah, it’s really good
Isn’t making any type of music art by definition?
Bastian Windzsus.
fr lmao
I still remember watching ManlybadassHero play this game months ago last year, it was a weird game but also quite enjoyable
Hey a Manly fan! Waz up
Hello there! :D
Yea I remember watching that. I wish there'd be a few more answers though lol
Manly makes fun videos
Ayooo me too!! :D
Fun fact: at some point when another business pardner arrives, Declan after guiding him to Mr.Brown's office, says sarcastically "Here comes another one"
now THIS is a game with an interesting art style
If you like the artstyle, look into "The Cat Lady" similar artstyle and also very interesting plot.
@@otomon5 i will , thanks for the recomendation
@@g-56 I have to warn you that the game was quite brutal/bloody (no gore though, just many horrifying deaths) while dealing with heavy topic.
@@L16htW4rr10r i am pretty sure i can handle it , i am not easily triggered or sensitive
Stolas, also known as Stolos, Stoppas and Solas, is the 36th demonic spirit of the Ars Goetia and a Great Prince of Hell. He is depicted as either being a crowned owl with long legs, a raven or a man.
He commands twenty-six legions of demons (twenty-five according to other authors), and teaches astronomy and the knowledge of poisonous plants, herbs and precious stones and their uses during prophecies. He is often shown changing or manipulating history either for personal benefit or amusement.
🤔 interesting
The last part fits well with the whole player thing imo: Players trying different routes, paths, and stuff like that, trying to achieve different endings, trying out different dialogues, many other things you may think of. All for the entertainment from discovering new things
i found out about this game through hellava boss
I just thinking that the owl demon in the game is Stolas too! 😀
WHY IS NOONE TALKING ABOUT HOW GOOD THE SINGING WAS
It was a bop!
Literally everyone is
fun idea could the woman or declan have poisoned the owner out of greed or pettiness, and then they got stuck in this loop as a punishment?
I agree with this because the owl boi says
"No man no woman no *innocent* daughter" but this could also be that children are sid to be innocent and stuff
The title immediately reminded me of Rusty Lake Hotel, and the Rusty Lake series in general. Our host and major guide throughout the series is an owl very similar to this one.
i know right?
I AGREE
Agree!!!
Exactly what I thought!
*Slurps water and goes and glares at the white stray rabbit in my backyard...*
the song mr Brown/Webb sings is honestly the greatest thing any indie horror game has ever implemented
Idk why but I loved this game. From theories time loop trope and art style. They really managed to make an owl creepy omnipotent being
My take is that the owl will stop at nothing, no matter if it’s 8:00am, 12:00pm, or 11:30pm, to HAVE DINNAH!!!
This game reminded me of rusty lake! It’s my favourite weird game and so complex. If you haven’t yet made a video about rusty lake you should! The game has soooo many other games that all tie into the lore!
I thought it was a rusty lake game for the longest time haha
Yes!
13:22 i thought that song was just for humor purposes but that reveals some information to the story.
I believe the owl is possibly stolas the demon owl prince from Dante's inferno in there stolas is a master in astronomy and plants along with powerful magic which could explain the weird time loop like imprisonment
stolas is from the ars goetia, the lesser key of Solomon Dante's inferno well it did feature demons almost everyone in it was either strictly a biblical character or a character from Roman or Greek myth, or oddly Roman and Greek historical characters or even current figures at that time who were known in political or religious fears since to be fair the most honest way of describing Dante's inferno is biblical fanfiction.
I don't remember the name but in the 90's I remember reading a book where a person was playing a game and lightening struck which semi pulled/pulled them into the game. And he became their god? This game reminded me of it lols
Sounds interesting! Do you remember the name of it?
@@Sasha_fox314 they literally said they don't remember the name of the book...
@@TJ-jk4ut Well, what if they'll think of it later?
@@Sasha_fox314 clearly they didn't because they would of edited their original comment and told everyone the name of the book...
Oh, that was one of my favorites growing up, that's 'God Game', by Andrew M. Greeley!
Is this game a part of the cube escape/rusty lake series? Btw you should definitely cover that serious it has very extensive and deep lore
Love cube escape!
Yes! It’s such a good game!
No, Dinner With An Owl is not apart of the Rusty Lake series, only similar to it.
OMG YES SUCH AN UNDERRATED GAME!! legit also want MatPat to cover it
Sorry but this video fealt kind of pointless to me. I've watched a playthrough the other day, lasting about 17 minutes. I kind of expected this video giving possibly a bit of more indepth lore, but it gave me pretty much no additional information, making this somehow like a summary that actually is longer than the real thing itself, so whats the point?
I had no idea about this game, thank you once again for letting me and the rest know about very interesting horror games which you entertain us with your theory about it
This owl character had good pipe of singing.
I remember seeing mark play this game. Though I'm not sure if I watch the playthrough all the way through back then ua-cam.com/video/3ngJ-ow1OrQ/v-deo.html I've forgotten about this game so it was great to see you talk about it! Weird, Mark got a different song and no dub
The game could have been possibly updated
What would happen if someone killed the owl then killed themself so that they couldn't be taken over?
Necromancy
I thought about that as well!
... Hooty what the actual WHAT is wrong with you?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Hooty: I jUsT wAnTeD sOmE cOmPaNy!!!!1!!!!1!!1111!!!!!!!1!!1!1!1!!!!!!!!11
Theory: The owl entity never had any owl entity friends who enjoyed dinner as much as he did, so he became a human to host endless dinners.
For those commenting about the song:
The beautiful song is called "Legion". It's by Bastian Windszus. :-)
I've been waiting for someone to explain this game for so long Lmao
Idk why but I was expecting a jump scare with you becoming the new owl in the end lol
I like how the game kind of has a ground hog day vibe too it
Wow! What a Deja Vu of Loops!! Also very Radical melody 12:25!
My question is still the same. What in the world did they eat every night for dinner?😂
I imagine the kitchen is well stocked and due to the owl having control of time and space just replenishs the kitchen each time.
Would you consider covering older classic horror games of this type, like *The Cat Lady* or *Downfall?*
R OUR NARRATOR IS THE REAL ONE R.EXE DOES NOT EXIST CKSIXHSJ I HOPE R OUR NARRATOR IS OKAY! I love the effort you put into each and every single video, can't wait for the next one!
I'm getting really tired of the "You, the player were the real monster ALL ALONG. Fuck you for playing videogames." trope. I get it, existential dread, yada yada, but it’s been done so many times now, I'm just sick of it.
Otherwise the game seemed really interesting.
What about that sick song it’s a real bop
I love the song that Mr. Webb sings😃
I love this game. It's so surreal, and bizarre, and unnerving. Plus, you get a gloriously funny solo from Mr. Brown.
I'm surprised they didn't run out of names😅
To be use of theory was a spirit that he picks well avenues about owls are basically group hunters hunting from the dark so he did it so that’s why his head looks like a owl
Spoiler alert: it was a hoot.
can u do hotline miami 2 ive been waiting for that one for a while now the others dont do it as good as u
Would love to see a video about the rusty lake series (cube escape)
I will bring fictional characters to the real world I promise everyone around the world
I’d never Thought I would be so interested on a game about a bird and a human having dinner
Man, that owl should change it carrier to a singer🎵🎤
Just discovered your page. Loved this video. If you have never done video on the movie The Boy, please do. Because it's a really mysterious movie that I really want to find explanation to.
Haay, may I ask why you think its mysterious? To me the ending pretty much explained everything. Did I miss something?
Cube games would be interesting. This game reminds me of them.
The “let’s have dinner” kills me every trip😭☠️ I want to play this game the storyline is crazy!
this is being written while I'm not even half way through the video, but I love Mr.Browns Voice, props to whoever VA'd him
What do you call a magic owl?
Hoodeni 🪄🦉
Didn’t know we got a labyrinth song while playing this
I think the last victim who became the owl man was that somans husband
What if the player killed them self before they were possessed what would the owl do
So,Stolas was a real folklore demon?
I picture Mr. Brown to be some Eldritch being like a form of Lovecraftian horror.
Aren't owls nocturnal hence why he's up at night?
Thank you for doing this I love this games concept and style
The moment that i head telescope i knew that the guy was the demon Stolas. The water is sin.
I don't know why but the actor who voices Mr.Brown sounds very familiar 🤔
I always thought when you hand them the contracts then it's too late to do anything about him taking over you
This game gives such big Twin Peaks energy. The owl is not what he seems.
Finally I've been waiting for you to cover this one
Such a bizarrely brilliant game!
Damn Mr. Webb had some vocals.
It's a Hotel California reference!
Listen to the song!
ANNOUNCEMENT - The new game's demo will be released on the 6th June 2024.
There is a world exclusive playthrough now posted to my channel. Enjoy :D
I'd been waiting for this one, thanks!
I think markiplier played this?
I love the artstyle of this game, It reminds me of my childhood book artstyle
Thank you for introducing me to so many new games I would never come upon otherwise
*”JELLY SANDWICHES.”*
Mr. Brown’s voice sounded familiar. Is that Jim Cummings?
