Very true. 99% of the times the employer will hire someone brought by someone he/she already knows (referral). If an employee already working in the firm holds your hand and takes you to the boss, as long as the employee has a good standing with the boss/bosses, you have a clear chance of getting the job even without a good CV. Very rarely will a stranger get the job. The main reason being accountability. If a referral messes up, the boss can hold the person who brought him/her accountable and recover the loss. If a stranger messes up, the boss has no way to recoup his loss. Thus employers feel safer to hire someone brought by a person they know than to hire a total stranger. Instead of spending so much time online looking for jobs, spend time building and updating your professional network. It goes a long way
