    Probally the best opportunity to see what Greta is actually saying, in an environment free from press, cameras and hundreds of people, it was a good call offering her the crossing and clearly done from a genuine heart to be of service, which gave her one of the best platforms to speak yet.
    Look forward to see how you are overwintering that side of the water having had plans changed so late.

      I think you've hit the nail on the head, and can only add these crossings also must be a welcome rest for Greta and Svante from the hurly burly of climate activism, strange as that may appear driving through the north Atlantic.

    Epic adventure and Lenny is rolling with it all. Amazing Job on "Lenny Duty" because he looks like he's enjoying it and has no worries. We can tell it's a rough journey because the boat sounds completely different with lots more noise, pounding and bangs. The sea state, wind and rain is much more intense. I'm so glad you are sharing this with us... you guys are Legends!

      Chuck Marsh I can’t get voter how white the skies were over the Atlantic. I saw only one day of a faded blue sky. So sad. As per Dr. John Ott’s research on the health effects of light, this can lead to fatigue, depression, ill health etc. They’re slowly killing us by polluting our skies. Someone needs to stop the pollution of our skies by military aircraft. It’s literally killing us and all life.

      @BoulderPM The whole... 'but your boat is made from petro-chemicals'... is such a lazy argument'.. The technology exists to move away from fossil fuels. It's only vested interests, people who listen to right wing spin and 'right wingers' whose personal branding won't let them accept anything remotely progressive... who are standing in the way of sensible transition.

    • @dannyt9067
      @dannyt9067 4 роки тому +2

      BoulderPM completely agree. they’re the typical “Do as I say not as I do” people. I mean Riley used to work on an oil rig ...lol. Greta clearly says ONLY buy things you need...well I guess SLV needed this sailboat to survive and to take her across the ocean.Lol. I wonder how many people work for all the companies that helped build or supply items to build this boat.

    • @richardwylie07
      @richardwylie07 4 роки тому +1

      @@dannyt9067Mate, your zero sum argument is extremely lazy and is more about your own 'personal branding'. ie 'hates lefties and greenies'... than facts or reality. No one expects 'action on climate change' to involve the whole world reverting to living in caves. We have the technology to transition to a lower carbon future. It's only fossil fuel vested interests, the politicians they bribe and people like you who keep voting these idiots into power... that are standing in the way of a sensible solution. But I guess it's easy for you to type into a keyboard. These views won't cost you anything. It will be your kids and their kids... who'll reap the whirlwind.

      @petnzme01 Umm... not really, while much of the other parts of Australia were settled initially by convicts, South Australia, where Riley comes from, has never had convicts. Never relied on them. Everybody that came to South Australia (just about) wanted to be here, to make a new life, to build a future. My forebears came out between 1839 and 1849 so they had to make their own world from what they could.

The other issue I tried pointing out was that many, many Australians have no hereditary ties to convicts. Elayna herself is a case in point - both her parents were immigrants from continental Europe. Myself, I can trace all my ancestors to people to voluntarily emigrated to Australia a few generations ago. But, sadly, there's no convincing some people - and, sadly, I have found that many of them are British - because they have this "convict thing" set in their minds and that's all there is to it.

    This channel seriously changes my mood completely. I had chosen to move to Zambia and was packing up my house when I stumbled across a video of yours last year and I got hooked. I've watched your videos from the middle of the african bush as I hotspot my phone to my laptop. I'm coming to the end of my african experience and am heading back home to Canada middle of march and holy crap, I've gone through some major life changing experiences that I have no idea how I go through but you guys - Elaina, Riley and Lenny have been my go to when I've been fearful of my adventure. To watch the videos with Greta has made me seriously cry as I see the ripple effect of positivity that radiates from your channel. I edit videos as part of my own business and let me tell you, these videos take so much time and effort. To set up the camera to film Elaina as she cleans a mess from Lenny - literally takes time to set up and thought put into creating a bridge from one moment of the day to the next and it's only up on the screen for a few seconds - multiply that for an entire video!. Even the small things like the notifications at the top of the video with a link to merchandise or to a visitors Instagram. This is a real deal reality show and a lot clearly goes into it and please just know that it goes noticed.
    Thanks for opening up your life for us all to see and thanks for keeping it real about your experiences with anxiety, how you and Riley disagree on essential oils and honestly - to kind of have a front row seat into what it involves to care for a child...holy cow. I'm the youngest in all of my family and haven't been around kids much and have always wondered what the daily grind is like. Damn, you guys are doing a great job.

    Fantastic Video! The interview segment was great. I like the question “what should we do” and I appreciate that individual decisions are very important, but ultimately we have to influence politicians to do the right thing and make hard choices about the direction of our environmental and economic policies. Very often “what’s the best decision” is an economic one and those decisions can be influenced by policies, taxes, etc. To take a page out of Gloria Steinem’s book (referencing a talk she gave at my college 30 years ago) the most important things we can do are: 1) educate ourselves, 2) write letters to our representatives and the leaders of all the political parties (she said 1 per week - just have a form letter and send it out), 3) VOTE for the parties with the policies that will make a difference. Tell them that we care, show them that we care, and vote the ones into power who will do something about it.

    • @Sailor_Greg
      @Sailor_Greg 4 роки тому +1

      Sending letters and pushing your elected representatives is a form of direct democracy that most people overlook. Most of us think about recycling and perhaps giving a thumbs up to a post or attending a march. The fact is that in a functioning democracy, so few people send letters that your opinion is counted as that of 5-20K people. You can have influence over your already elected representative with just a letter, and that’s both easy and important.

    I'm going to miss seeing Svante and Greta onboard. And 1984 is a must read or listen!

      I had to read it at her age, too ... but thankfully I was doing that in the relative safety of the loungeroom.

    AS a planetary scientist I know that climate change has been taking place for 4 billion years and will continue for another 4 billion years, for people to believe that humans can control the climate is the height of hubris. Pollution of our biosphere is the biggest problem we face, not plant food (CO2). I have followed you for a very long time and always look forward to a new video, my comments are my two cents worth on the subject of climate change, debate with facts is a good thing, not blind obedience to any ideology.

      A bull in a china shop does not control the condition of the merchandise. But it does have a great deal of influence on it.

      Can be difficult to be cheerful as you watch the extinction of animals and life on earth while politicians stand idly by...that said it's always important to take time out to recharge an enjoy what we do have now!;-) Every day like it's the last, enjoy it:-D

      Hayden Jacobsen you’re right, however it’s still going to sadly happen. like greta said we have to make a personal imprint. like me i’m trying to get towards being a vegetarian. i might start just eating pistachios and spinach leaf salads. it is sad to watch all the things you mentioned. i can’t stand it. though we still have to live because the ppl running things, the ppl putting the $$$ in their pockets, they just smile at greta, say a couple nice poetry lines, then go back to the grind of destroying our planet.
