I've encountered an issue with order execution in the TWS simulation trading platform. The platform only executes market orders. Stop-sell orders don't work at all in simulation trading. Limit buy orders work occasionally. I'm not sure what the exact reason is, but this platform is completely unsuitable for simulation trading. However, I want to thank you for the video; you explained everything very thoroughly.
Very good video in a world of hype. Will be following. I'm knew to IBKR. Is there a way to set up the advanced chart to do a full bracket order in one click? Or on first click. I know it's all more than one click.
Hi Megan, thanks for the video... question: in TWS, can we determine beforehand the $ amount of risk per trade, then when we decide the entry price and stop loss, the system will automatically calculate the number of shares to trade? Just like in DAS
I'm glad you found the video helpful! In DAS Trader Pro, achieving predetermined risk per trade with dynamic risk hotkeys is indeed possible. However, as far as I know, Interactive Brokers' Trader Workstation (TWS) doesn't offer this specific feature with hotkeys for automatic calculation of share size based on predetermined risk. While TWS is robust in many aspects, this particular functionality might not be available.
Hi, tks for awesome video. Can you please ,tell me , when you are using hotkeys, and you multiple stocks on your portfolio, how you select which ,a specific stock to sell using hotkeys, tks in advance
Great and informative video. is there a video on hotkey orders or advanced bracket orders. im looking to change my stop loss into a trailing stop once my order has moved in the green over 10% from my parent order. im having some issues replicating that. do you have a video on how to do that type of order or would you be able to assist.
Just a quick question please, on the Advanced window, on the right hand side, can you create a Stop Loss line there, by dragging from the "entry price Line" etc? (similar to how you do it on TopStep's platoform etc) thx you very much!! this is a great video!!
Hi! I don't believe you can. You would have to add that order separately or attach it to the order from the very beginning. Glad you enjoyed the video - thanks for watching!
how to do a buy order with stop loss and profit trail order? I am not sure if i am using unfamiliar term, profit trail is where i want to maximize the gain once it crosses certain price?
Hi Megan, appreciate your video. What is the window on the left in the middle called - below order entry and to the left of the chart and above activity window?
love the videos ! Can you please show me how do you change the background on the Order Entry from Blue to Green? I have watched multiple videos but I haven't seen this or haven't come across it yet. Thanks
Thank you for the feedback! Mine changes to blue and it doesn't appear that it can be changed to green. Typically, these deeper changes can be found under Global Configuration but I am not seeing anything there.
Hi Megan, Thanks for the video. I use the Advanced Chart, and I am struggling to scale out of a trade. If I have a stop loss in place, when I ask to sell say 75%, it cancels the stop loss. Is there a way to scale out but still leave my SL in play? I assume I would need to manually adjust the position size accordingly. Thanks so much.
thanks for the crisp video Megan. I have a question - Yesterday 13 March when i tried to place a Limit order for a penny stock there was a pop up which said - CONFIRM MANDATORY CAP PRICE - to avoid a trade of your order AT A PRICE that is NOT CONSISTENT with a fair or orderly market IBKR may set a cap ( in short the trade may NOT BE executed by IBKR) - why was it happening and do i need to worry or just accept & continue with the trade? It happened when i placed a limit order for Apple stock also.
Hey Megan, I have already used TWS to trade stocks on a paper account, and when I buy 200 shares of let's says TSLA, the order isn't filled right away, but it takes a few seconds for TWS to buy the stocks in several paquets. Does this problem occur when you use a live account with TWS ? Or is this only a "paper trading" issue ? In BBT Andrew once said (or am I quoting one of his books ?) that TWS isn't fit for day trading... But DAS is really expensive ! I have a IBKR account BTW.
Hey! Yes sometimes I have had this issue. However, be sure to use market orders if you are looking for an immediate fill. I have a few traders I coach who actively day trade on the IBKR TWS platform so it is possible. When you go live, just be sure to try it out with a few shares rather than a large position. If you are having trouble with fills, contact IBKR and they may be able to help you further. Cheers!
Hi Megan, thanks a lot ! is it possible to use hotkeys in advanced charts?
It's possible to use hotkeys using TWS
@@BearBullTraders ... on my side it es not working with the TWS Version "LATEST"...hotkeys are only working with the TWS Version "STABLE"

No short selling in cash accounts.
Hi Megan, question, how can I setup hotkeys for selling with TWS at market price my full/half and quarter position ?

Tws is ass. They need to hire a new UI designer.
they release a new version called IBKR Desktop
Can you pls make a video for option trading setup for ibkr?
