- This is my long time coming review of Amouage Opus IX from the Library Collection. This particular creation is a collaboration between Pierre Negrin & Nathalie Lorson under the creative directorship of Christopher Chong.

This type of hardcore no f's given perfumery is out the window and gone for good these days. As a perfume lover, i think Amouage was at the top making floral fragrances for men and women only under Christopher Chong. In 12 years, he put his heart and soul into the house of Amouage. I agree completely that Amouage needs to hire Mr Chong back and at least teach the fish man how to make perfume or get the fishmen out completely. Sad to say, not all opus collection didn't make it to the new bottles. Thank you for your in-depth review of Opus 9 of Amouage. These kinds of reviews are gone now on UA-cam, where the person that is reviewing a certain composition never puts their heart and soul into their review and on channel Ram that is what we get! Keep doing what you are doing, brother. We love the way you put everything out about a fragrance and never hold back.

Christopher Chong and Nathalie Lorson created Chords for Thameen London this year. It’s another Opera inspired theme with leather note. It might be up your street Ram.

I have a couple of decants from Thameen for you.
I'm following mister Chong wherever he goes, like a shadow.
Opus IX and XIII are my favourites from the line. IX is like a night/evening sister to Gold Man.
It's definitely Amouage staying true to their floral routes
The way you think about and review fragrances is just another level Ram! The level of detail and storytelling is amazing. So intrigued to try this now. I do love Jasmine especially the indolic type and Jasmine and leather is such a great combo- serge lutens Sarassins is top of my unicorn to sniff list, so this one sounds really interesting too. I have the Jasmine soliflor Perris Monte Carlos- Jasmine de pays by Jean Claude Ellena- have you tried it? Going to wear it today after watching this. Have a great weekend Ram 🥂

Every time I watch one of your reviews I’m forced to think about how little of a dent I’ve made into the fragrance world lol
It is a never ending journey ... worry not ... even for me I just mentioned to Rich and Jonathan that I just smelled Aliage for the first time this week one of the greatest green fragrances of all time... and I have been at for over a decade... but the amount of offerings is staggering

i’m so sad for the new Amouage direction, and downhearted for keep discontinuing the art they been made before the fish man period

yeah exceptional extraits is stupid idea or great in business side
it’s not if the perfume needs the higher concentration to be at greater stage but no they’re taking only the best sellers and put them in this category
it was fun and nice to create Jubilation 40 and Dia 40 in the celebration of 40 years. although the new formula of jubilation needed the higher concentration to be back as it used to
and 100% Chong wouldn’t do this as he could do the 30% extraits in celebration of 30 years
i can imagine him laughing at this idea if someone suggested him to do so
This sounds _very_ much like something I may enjoy. I actually have sanples of this and opus x coming as I can still gwr bottles.

My all time favourite perfume not only from Amouage but overall, I would be very upset if this masterpiece is discontinued
Sadly I am pretty sure it is... go to the Amouage website and try and find it.... it's not there
The fish man strikes again
Darn, I am in panic mode already, I bought my first bottle in Dubai in 2017 and a friend of mine took that one in 2020 with half of the juice left, I was quick to buy the second one from the same store, cost me 200 dirhams more but I didn't mind. Now I've moved to Pakistan my native country and there's no way I can find one here and my second bottle is almost empty.
When I sprayed this on indole was by far the most dominant smell I got. Indole is one of my least favorite smells. To me, indole smells like mothballs. Things get better after a while, but this is definitely not my favorite Amouage.
Yeah I could see the mothball smell for some folks... luckily I don't get that but yes this is the dirty underbelly of Jasime

Finally, one of my only full bottles from Amouage in my collection 😅 speaking of discontinuation, I got mine from fbuy in Feb 2024 and never saw it back in stock anymore after that 🥲 probably true it’s discontinued by now… Opus X and XI I have a 10ml decant of each, pretty good (and different) too!! Cheers!! ✌🏼
If you are going to have one you could do much worse than Opus 9 lol
