  • Don't make the same mistake I did! Check your suspension before it's too late. Learn from my experience with blown shock absorbers in my BMW E46 M3. I've learned that it is really important to check your suspension. I did not and blew with flare, my right front shock absorber on my ISC coilovers. The ride is horrendous and rode like a train. I could not take any bumps without severe vibrations finding their way throughout the cabin. If your roads are bad and your car is lowered then you must check your car's suspension periodically.
    Parts replaced include:
    2 front shock absorbers
    iscsuspension-...
    2 bump stops
    iscsuspension-...
    2 dust boots
    iscsuspension-...
Here are the ISC coilovers that are installed on the car.
    iscsuspension-...
Now that the front and rear shock absorbers are replaced, the coilovers ride pretty well. In fact, I will be keeping them on the car for the foreseeable future. That one crosswalk doesn’t feel nearly as bad as it did on the first ride. I think the shock absorbers had to “break in??”

    Great job man!
Did you order new inserts from ISC or just some generic guys?

What do you mean by "blown shock" ? Chewed up rubber/plastic is a nuisance but far from a failed part.
I have ISC coils on my e39 and haven't had any problems w them. Car sees all the $#itty roads around south CA, they seek me out for some reason. And FTR my fiver's been airborne TWICE and coils came through w flying colors.

Hey, thanks for watching, though, respectfully, I’m not confident you watched it. I clearly showed in the video that the shock blew its seals, thus the fluid all over the shock absorber. Yes, the chewed up bump stop is a nuisance, but I thought I showed in the video that shock absorber was utterly destroyed. I’ll re-watch my video to see if I misrepresented the severity of the title. This was the second shock absorber I’ve blown so all four are now replaced. Thanks!!

Do those upgrades springs help with the ride confort at all?

Hey! I’m terribly sorry for the late response. I’m traveling overseas. Yes, the springs definitely helped, but it’s a weird situation where sometimes I don’t feel the springs are equally matched to the valving, which for me is the street set up. I feel like if I go too soft then it’s too soft and then if I stiffen this it’s much, too stiff. I struggle to find the perfect set up. These coilovers came with the car and I’m happy with them, but ultimately some tc Kline or Ohlins would be preferred. Thanks for watching.
