I always love how much hard work you put into each video. I will definitely read your recommendations! I really appreciate how you put a disclaimer before mentioning Addie La Rue because I am perhaps one of those who did not like it.On another note, I find the single lamp behind you so warm and cozy.. Thai just dozing off under the warmth of the lamp is a vibe in itself!
Ahhh loved this video!!
OMG that edition of Yumi and the Nightmare Painter is STUNNING!!!
*Haha, when you intro’ed with - I’ve been tempted to read a lot of romantasy” - my brain immediately went to “it’s me, HI, I’m the problem it’s me 🎶 “ 🙋🏻♀️🫥
Hahahahahahahahaah you are the temptation!!!
My favorite romance in a Urban Fantasy is Ilana Andrews series Kate Daniel’s. This is definitely a slow burn romance. A relationship developing over a few books allows for an investment in the characters before a romance begins.
There is action, humor, a well crafted magic system, and a romance that is a fun build due to differences in cultural differences.
Yess, the night circus. It is one of the most romantic romance stories I have ever read (as a big fan of romantasy and fantasy romance). Indeed, not the main plotline, but just amazing.
This is also such a fun video, really excited to read some of these recommendations!! ❤
Oh I love it so much when I see other people enjoying Night Circus!! Thank you for letting me know! 🫶
Fantastic video love 🥰 it glad that I have found you again love your Aussie family friend John ❤❤❤
Thank you for the video!
You are indeed the best of friends 😂 Humbleness (or lack of) and all!
Thank you for shouting Blood Mercy out! And Fireborne of course, but that comes without saying! I totally agree with you about Half a Soul, I had fun with it when I read it but I keep thinking back on it as something pretty unique. I've noticed most fantasy romances include different races/species of beings, almost as much as classic fantasy used to, but they tend to be superhumans rather than in-human, and I've found I really prefer the latter. So not simply humans just taller, hotter and with wings, but with completely different worldviews and ways to interact with the world. The fae in Half a Soul were one of my favorite depictions of it, and reminded me of the ones in the Folk of the Air trilogy, which I also adored because the author did not pull any punches in portraying them as completely different from us.
🥹🥹 I am 🥹🥹!! Haha I 100% agree with your description of Half a Soul and their likelihood to Folk of Air- love how both display them as weird, cruel and whimsical creatures. It is also part of the reason why I enjoyed Emily so much as well! Thank you so much for your comment! It really always warm my heart! 💕
Yesss I’ve been waiting for this video 🧚🏻♀️🩷✨
Haha thanks so much! I hope the video made the waiting worth it 🥹
Yumi and the Nightmare Painter shows that Sanderson knows how to do romance properly (except for the very ending, he still doesn't know how to finish a book, but that's like saying your Ambrosia nectar was a little off). And since his wife has been pushing him to put more romance in his stories, it makes one wonder how much he would actually focus on it naturally, because dude likes his tragedy romance (Wax, Lightbringer, Tindwyl, Dalanar, Kaladin, and more) Also, another series that has good but tragic romance is the Willowfire Trilogy. It's scifi fantasy, with romance being in the background yet still driving the narrative forward. It literally took the game Starcraft, and said "what if this happens on a different world, a fantasy world, what would happen?"
Thanks for recommending!! 🫶
Serpents it felt like a one sided hate, basically her hating all vampires except her father.
Haha I did feel the enemies to lovers was well done!
Really the first Emily Wilde book the second one is sitting on the nightstand.
That is the first step! Now read them!! You won’t regret it!
LOVED THIS VIDEO PERFECT FOR ME
Oh yay!!! Thanks for letting me know!!
I'm currently reading the Plated Prisoner series
Oh love that! Are you enjoying it?
@FunFantasyBooks I'm actually really loving it, I'm a little into the third book and the romance is coming more into it now. I didn't think I'd like it from hearing about it (I thought the main character would annoy me, but I actually quite like her)
How do you feel about the cruel prince or folk of the air and crescent city series??
Folk of air! Loved book 2, enjoyed book 1, book 3 was meh! With crescent city book 1 was great, book 2 wasn’t great for me and book 3 was correct!
I've read like 100 romantasy and I love them all lol I'm a sucker! But I didn't like any of these that you mentioned unfortunately
Oh nooo! Reading is so subjective! I guess we have different tastes! Have you tried the fantasy books I mention by the end?
@@FunFantasyBooks I don't consider these to be "romantasy" except maybe serpent and the wings of night. Romantasy tends to have similar if not identical plots usually and with your picks you did really good at finding ones that are unique with good content.
I'm not sure, I'll re-watch
What did you think of from blood and ash?
Personally, I did not like it. I wanted to like it, but I predicted almost every major plotpoint before the 100 page mark. Sooo, I was disappointed to say the least.
Yeah, so I read it twice 🥲! First time really enjoyed books 1-3, it came at the best time in my life. But the second time i couldn’t! Writing didn’t feel good to me and yeah very predictable!
Fourth Wing was the worst book I've ever read. I'm glad it didn't make the list, even if it's just because of its overwhelming popularity. Love the video, thanks.
Yay! So happy you find it useful! Sorry you didn’t enjoy fourth wing! Hopefully you will love these recs!
Sanderson and romance is not something I will ever try again.
Hahaha fair enough - which did you try?
Isn't that a fancy term for "🌽" 😭 (Don't grill me if I'm wrong here)
It can be smut in them but it is not a requirement
Precisely! It is not mandatory!
Nope. Half a soul has no smut whatsoever, and Emily wildes has allusions to fun times but nothing on page, barely even mentioned tbh. So not all Romantady has smut. There’s quite a lot that don’t actually.
