    Everyone is checking on and making excuses for Will after the Oscar’s fiasco(slap), but not to many are doing the same for Rock. After hearing in this interview that he has a social disability this makes this Oscar’s slap even worse. He never saw or understood that the slap was coming until he got hit. He has a problem reading body language and cues unless u tell him. That’s probably why after Will started yelling and cursing at him he replied back “I got u. I understand I’ll keep ur wife’s name out my mouth.” Then for Will to hit this comic for a harmless joke and he has a disability is even worse.

I am so glad he touched on the anxiety aspect of navigating ambiguity living with NVLD and going through the world feeling so unaware but aware in ways some may never be. It is so cool to see more representation for NVLD. My hope is that we can be understood and embraced. I've always known there was a reason why my circle was small, few and in between because I struggle socially but when I meet people who want to get to know me in ways I try to get to know them, man, it is a wonderful thing.

      No… not being able to interpret nonverbal communication to realize you’re about to get punched doesn’t translate to blaming yourself for your own assault. That would be a trauma response if you were raised in an abusive family. Now if he had NVLD AND came from such a family dynamic… well, that would make for a perfect narcissistic family scapegoat.

    Thank you Chris this is a very important issue to focus and talk about. NVLD (Non Verbal Learning Disorder) is like filling up your vehicle but not being able to clearly navigate all the different components to get on the road and arrive at a particular designation without constantly having to stop and verify directions. It is exhausting and isolating to try to do the read on people, especially when most people do not say what they really mean.

      Megan Hi, our situation is unique in the sense that we never ever let his Aspergers get in the way of him being independent. We only had him tested because we needed student services as he incurred more work in school. He was an exchange student his first year of HS. I think the freedom he experienced encouraged him to go away to college. He was free from us “reminding” him about things, our life talks, saying Hi to us (😂), chores, etc. I don’t know what actually clicked for him, I just glad we supported and encourage him in all his endeavors. ❤️

    Maybe that's why he made that joke and didn't know how it would set some people off, although it didn't sound too bad to me.
    It wasn't talking about her illness, it was a compliment but it was a little weak.
    Please figure out what to do about this physical assault that has taken place recently. Something has to be done.
    To avoid doing something would be like enforcing negative stereotypes that say certain people are violent, and also would be sending
    the wrong message to those in generation X, that says its acceptable to physically assault someone when they verbally offend you.

    I just figured it out for myself this year, at age 43, that I have NVLD, based upon the symptoms my mother said my elementary school gave HER back in 1984/85. But back then, they just said I had ADD and put me on Ritalin and stuck me in the basement of the school with kids who were drooling on themselves. Yeah! That did wonders for my self-esteem!

    He's the smartest and wittiest comedian alive. I always knew he was different from the others when he came on the scene. After George Carlin died, Chris rock became my new favorite living comedian. it just never occurred to me he was on the spectrum but it alllll makes sense now. He was too smart to hit Will Smith back. He legit doesn't understand how Will could get so upset over a GI JANE JOKE. I don't think he will ever say will's wife's name again because he has to follow rules and he would not ever want another confrontation with Will. When he said "I'm going to," Chris meant it. I think Will thought he would have amnesty from the consequences of assaulting Chris. He won't.

    We should honestly do things how they do in Germany when it comes to Police. Living there several years they do it right. There are no police waiting in the corner to pull you over for speeding. Instead they have speed cameras that will capture your image should you go over the speed limit. You then will get a ticket in the mail in a week or so. The fees are VERY appropriate (most cases 15-20 euro) and you pay and that is it. There’s no point system, no 4 hour class to keep your points, and most importantly no contact with a hostile police (polezei) officer. Everybody wins and you pay a very cheap ticket. And it’s unbiased. I WISH we would implement this system. So many lives would be saved.

    • @ChrisCypher
      @ChrisCypher 3 роки тому +4

      We have those here too (in Chicago) and I don't see how speed cameras would solve the issues here. Police don't stop black people for speeding, they stop them sometimes for simply being black (and thus, automatically suspicious).
      Not to mention, simply reducing contact between police and people are also not a solution because what about when black folks actually need to call the police? I remember many years ago, my house was broken into and would you believe that I was nervous about calling the police when *I* was the victim? That's the problem.

      yo Jenny this is a very good idea but we all know including you that they would never ever make a system like this for America. For anyone seeking more information on NVLD (which does not mean a person is non-verbal, but rather highly verbal and has difficulty with non-verbal tasks like driving, geometry, understanding facial expressions/tone of voice, etc.), please visit the website of the NVLD Project: www.nvld.org. NVLD is a right-hemisphere neurological condition and is not yet in the DSM (2-min video on the neurological origins: ua-cam.com/video/GGjLPy2pHRg/v-deo.html), so people who have it need another (related) diagnosis to qualify for services to be covered by insurance. People with NVLD frequently get misdiagnosed or go undiagnosed because they often have advanced vocabularies as children (basically the verbal/auditory memory overcompensates for the deficits in the non-verbal/visual-spatial memory), so teachers think there's "nothing wrong." But kids with NVLD DO need help, especially with math (a lot of which is non-verbal) and social skills. OT (for fine motor skills), PT (for gross motor skills), and SLP (for pragmatics) can all help. NVLD is not the same as autism (e.g., with NVLD there is no hyper focus on a single topic of interest like there might be with autism, and there is a poor visual-spatial memory; for example, Temple Grandin has an excellent visual-spatial memory), though there is some overlap, which is why NVLD can be mistaken for autism.

    Trying to figure out if I have this right now lol. I was diagnosed with adhd and the person who diagnosed me said I might have NVLD based on my high verbal IQ score. None of what I have learned about NVLD seems distinct enough to really nail down whether its just my ADHD/anxiety/depression/trauma or if it is in fact NVLD.

    • @stinesfloy
      @stinesfloy 2 роки тому

      I am sorry to hear that. A test might make this more clear. I was diagnosed with avoidant personality disorder,depression,possible ptsd and anxiety. Two other specialists I saw questioned the personality disorder and I Was forwarded to take a kognitive test which is as I understand it the best way to diagnose NVLD. Did not even know what that was at the time. In my case it was easy to diagnose due to the very high inconsistencies on my test and I scored very clearly on the erias expected from nvld. Might be worth a shot. Wish you the best.

If someone called HIM, and he needed to take care of some important business matter or something, or someone called HIM, then that’s pretty normal.
