You always ask me what my top picks would be, so here they are! Now share your top 10. Of course these aren't the only games I think will be good, don't miss everything else in the playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLYVqUDxY6COh7bkuJoBb1koNRX7mAX2yp.html
Avowed was intended to be a Skyrim expansions. Bethesda didn't want to be outshined by Obsidian again like New Vegas so they turned them down. Obsidian pivoted what they had and moved it into their own universe (Pillars of Eternity).
A piece of advice for everybody here: don’t preorder any of these games. You’ll get the game on release just like everyone else and you won’t give developers incentives to release an unfinished product!!!
Thanks for another great list Zakh!
Great list. I'm really looking forward to Black Myth. Also some of the RTS games you listed. Just to note I've been playing Skull and Bones on the open beta and I think it's awsome.
Great list :) Frostpunk 2 and manor lords are my picks and I'll see about few others! Thanks
Nice collection as always Zakh, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your lists are great as always!
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying them.
It couldn’t be better today. It’s Sunday here, raining, I have sweet breakfast and watching Zakh’s overview of Top 10 Most Anticipated Upcoming 2024 Games.
I'm glad you're enjoying it! Weekend rain's the best haha
Happy New Year, GamerZakh!
Happy New Year!
Avowed seems amazing but having played Pillars 1 & 2, hoping there's a party following around haha. Manor Lords looks really good as well, hoping it plays almost the same as lords of the realm or stronghold in some aspects. How many FF VII there are? Seems like the way you mentioned it it appears to be DLC/Expansion but given standalone game with attached price tag? Star Wars Outlaws looks good but wish it was in the era of KOTOR.
Awesome showcase
👍
I think Godsworn will have a lot of success too. Seems like it's quite appreciated (and the demo did impress me).
Not sure how it will do but Global Conflagration was one I did not expect much and once I tried the demo, I was rather blown away.
Godsworn demo has been fun, really scratching that WC3 itch.
Ara History Untold looks really cool.
It might be a bit of wishful thinking on my end, but I'm hoping for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf at the end of the year. If it does release then, it's my most anticipated game of the year.
Dragon's Dogma 2 depending on how it launches might get super big. And apart from that there's also Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail that's coming out which will be interesting to watch as itll decide the next couple of expansions
Man, seeing FFVII..I wish we could play as a random guy within the universe.
Frostpunk 2: I like the new city planning ideas!
Fable: I found the trailer very funny and of high quality, i’m waiting for that!
Avowed: Hyped!
FF7: I’ll wait for the complete “trilogy”
blackmyth gonna be fire 🔥
Disagree with Fable having been serious RPG in the past.
They've always been largely comedic and over the top.
See when I said "Fable was silly/parody/comedic" I got a ton of backlash from Fable fans saying that "it's a serious RPG!". Now when I address what Fable fans have been saying, other Fable fans are saying it's NOT serious and actually a comedic parody. Did Fable fans play different games?
@@GamerZakh I guess so haha.
To me it never seemed all that serious due to the overall tone, ridiculous enemies like hobbes, the possibility to fart on people, kicking chickens etc.
2:45 - awhile back I got Frostpunk on Epic and i was shocked that I got one of my soon to be favorite games of all time for free... Incredibly gripping game!
Yeah it was looking good at the start but I don't think anyone was expecting it to become such a success. Especially with all the other survival city builders being made.
This is the first video I can remember seeing or hearing any personal biases of yours. Case in point the Dragons Dogma 2. All talk I've witnessed from streamers has this a very anticipated game. You say you don't think it will but no reason?
Because you're not hearing me right. I start by saying "this is likely to be big". I just don't think it'll be in the top 10 biggest games of the year because as I say, there's a lot of competition. I never say it's not a very anticipated game or anything like that. If you think something sounds weird, quote me and respond to that.
Would also be nice to do a list of games that actually were great in recent years
I am looking forward to the continued dumbing down of the civilization series. Generification is awesome.
After all these years, I still have never gotten an actual clear explanation on how Civ 6 is dumbed down compared to Civ 5. Things like AI issues exist since the first Civ. I recently played Civ 1 and it's pretty dumb and gameplay is definitely way simpler.
interesting games coming this year
Calling it: Millennia will get an honorable mention.
One game not mentioned that might blow up is nightingale. Popular genre, and steampunk which is a popular aesthetic
Oh yeah I got that in my FPS list, it's looking really good. Probably will be big but there's a lot of competition, so I'm not expecting it to be Top 10 of the year but still a success is my guess.
I am not sure if they'll release in 2024 or not but I am sure that if they do these two will be massive hits as well.
Dragon Age 4 and Hellblade 2.
Dragon Age we're not sure yet. Hellblade 2 should be 2024 yes, it's currently set for 21st May. It's just I'm not thinking it'll be in the Top 10 biggest. They will both definitely be big though.
Stalker 2 is my most anticipated
I vote for Dragons Dogma 2! Avowed does look good as well but DD2 I have been waiting for half of forever!
I still have the demo of Manor Lords. it still works btw
Bloodlines 2 is supposed to come out this fall but I'm not sure how much of a success it'll be since they seem to have managed to turn the entire VTM community against themselves... man, I just want a good vampire game again, it's already been 6 years since Vampyr and even that couldn't quench my thirst for more world of darkness rpg goodness :(
Yeah that might be good, but I'm not expecting it to be Top 10 of the year good.
Fable is going to have a real uphill battle to win over actual rpg-fans. It's not _just_ the character design putting people off, the 4th wall breaking trailers are just neither funny nor inspiring. Unless they've been intentionally misleading us it's gonna be Redfall all over again.
Parody and 4th wall breaking used to be a really popular direction in the early-00s. Comedy in games in general was the 4th wall kind, Black & White had a lot of it, Bard's Tale comes to mind. It's not really the direction games go these days though.
@@GamerZakh The Fable games were definitely fantasy parodies but they walked that line between being silly and serious really well. Guess I just don't have much faith in the Forza developer(why did THEY get the job of all people) being able to walk that line.
...I normally try to be more positive about games but I'm a huge fan of the first 3 and this one just feels like it's being set up to fail :(
If EA are to be believed, there will be no TS5 for a very long time and Project Rene will be a multiplayer game; of course, they might change their mind once more. - As for the competitors, LBY should release this June (the date has already been moved twice and Paradox is surely breathing down developers' necks, but it is still far from finished), inZOI by the end of the year and Paralives in 2025. You can already buy Tiny Life, though.
Satisfactory 1.0 is announced to be released this year, making it my most anticipated game.
Oh yeah that's huge, but also it's been huge for so long already haha. I don't really see it as an upcoming game anymore.
Casually optimistic for Fable here but idk
What’s funny is helldivers is probably going to get game of the year. Lol
Predictions can only be so accurate haha, no one has a crystal ball.
I'm stubbornly looking forward to Fable, because I have been thoroughly disgusted with the negative reactions to it so far. Also now I'm a bit more interested in Manor Lords, because previously I keep hearing about it everywhere and that kind of over-hype tends to turn me off. But hearing about good optimization makes my ears perk up.
Yeah I don't mind people hating a bad game but people seeing a jokey cinematic trailer and raging about 'wokeness' because the main character doesn't turn them on does make me want Fable to be good, just so they stop ranting to me about nonsense. I got 2 of those people just this morning. Like how Horizon Zero Dawn had tons of people calling it 'woke' because Aloy wasn't a supermodel, but that passed because people loved the game. If Fable is a bad game we'll never hear the end of it ugh.
I have a feeling Puggsy is gonna make a huge comeback. Well maybe…Or actually probably not.
I thought Manor Lords April release was release into early access. Didn't think it's full version.
What 'early access' means these days could be anything. Sometimes it's a pre-alpha, other times it's already feature complete and they're just adding more. Like Timberborn is still in early access but I can't even imagine what else they want to add to the game at this point. With Manor Lords it's hard to tell how finished it's gonna be or if it's gonna have a short or long early access.
Zakh! Nothing about Nightingale? Video too close to release (2/20/24)? I'm not used to seeing you miss a game like Nightingale in a list like this one.
I listed Nightingale in my FPS list months ago. It's just this is a top 10 list and although Nightingale is looking great I don't think it'll be top 10 biggest of the year.
Historically, a creative studio being bought by a corporation isn't good news!
Magically ‼this 🔥🔥🔥
im rooting for wukong
Fable is a stretch, considering they have not shown gameplay. I doubt it will even come out in 2024. Pal world is confirmed big in 2024.
It's always hard to guess. There are games like Civ where with Civ 6, they announced and revealed Civ 6 in May and the game was fully released in October. They didn't even confirm they were working on Civ 6 before that.
Sims 5 would be probably in 2030. They still didn't milk enough players for money
Looking forward to avowed, homeworld 3, an civ 7 maybe fable
What if the Big Spoiler Point will happen but the Big and/or Point is to be switched or replaced by another Big/Point? 😰
Haha also possible, maybe they switch up the Big Spoiler Point, which might make it an even bigger Point.
My prediction for 2024: Microsoft will merge Obsidian and Bethesda and put Obsidian in charge.
Big take!
wohooo
For $25K you can get all the SIMS5 DLC.
9:18 - Marvel did that with the last couple of movies and they didn't do very well, did they? That Taika Waititi-esque movement in entertainment these where everything needs to be sarcastic (Knives Out comes to mind) in a serious setting really makes everything worse for absolutely no reason...
Fable was always a little jokey though, so it fits the series. Just I think it's a bit more in the forefront for this reboot and old players might feel it's too much while new players might not understand that it's a parody RPG, as we don't get as many of those these days like the early-00s. In the face of Dragons Dogma 2, Dragon Age Dreadwolf, and FF7 Rebirth which are all so serious, Fable can look like it's not taking things seriously, which it isn't but many see that as a negative.
Dragons dogma 2 and wukong for me, I have no hope for silksong and crimson desert has no release date.
Monor Lords? Never heard of it
But did you like it?
20:06 I hate that, especially when people use that as an excuse.
I don't know why Avowed is so often compared to Skyrim. The first thing that comes to my mind whenever Skyrim is mentioned, is the modding community. Easy to use modding tools, 60k mods on Nexus - will Avowed even have something like the Creation Kit? Maybe, but nothing has been mentioned so far.
Fable - looking at the protagonist ... this game desperately needs a character editor.
Star Wars Outlaws, the footage looks great, but my interest went down when I heard somewhere that it will have only one ending.😑
Civilization - well, Ara history untold and Millennia will come out this year - Civ 7 we have nothing seen or heard of it so far. Of course Civ is the best known in this genre, and I played all of them (from Civ 1 to 6), nevertheless, the competition looks interesting this year.
Sims 5 - you forgot one competitor - Inzoi. Anyone looking for a realistic Sims clone will take a look at that one.
Looking forward to Dragons Dogma 2
The first thing that comes to mind *for us* is modding haha. Bethesda revealed that for all Skyrim players, a total of 8% have ever modded the game. 92% of Skyrim players have never even touched a mod. The vast majority of players just never do things like that. We're actually 'advanced' users, which can feel weird if you've just installed a mod or two but that already is way beyond the average.
For Civ 7, Civ 6 was revealed in May and released in October. If Civ 7 is coming out this year, they'll only reveal it in Q2. Their conundrum is do they want to compete with the others head on or wait a year.
I didn't forget Inzoi, I just don't really see it as a direct competitor to The Sims. It feels more like its own thing from what I've seen. More realism and simulator-like, which would attract a very different audience.
@@GamerZakh How is Skyrim even playable without at least the "inoffical patch" mod? And I do believe modding will have an influence on how long this game will be played.
Also, apart from modding, Avowed looks more colorful and most likely will have better RPGs mechanics/choices and consequences and so on. I think there are enough aspects that put it apart from Skyrim. At least I don't get any Skyrim vibes when looking at Avowed footage. IMHO it will be it's own thing. Better in some aspects, and maybe not so great in other aspects.
Civ, we will see when it comes out. I just thought you could have mentioned the other two Civ-like games that are likely to come out this year.
Regarding Inzoi. UA-camrs who make "The Sims" content also covered Inzoi. I think it will appeal at least to a subsection of Sims players (after all, so far those players had no alternative anyway, but it seems that will change soon)
Nearly every game you mentioned, you was going to the biggest of this year😂
Huh?
Highly doubt Sims 5 would made it to 2024 😅😅
Yeah that's why it's not in the top 10, but they keep teasing it so I thought I'd address that before people ask.
The new Fable seems like a parody/deviation from the original games which were serious rpgs? Really? My memories of the first 2 Fable games were getting drunk and running around farting at people...
See when I called them 'parodies', Fable fans got very angry at me and said they were serious. This time I took Fable fans' opinion into account and Fable fans are insisting they were parodies. Did Fable fans play different games? Lol
There are some good looking titles out there. Dragons Dogma 2 could be right up my alley. Also Manor Lords, Avoved, and a few others like Homeworld 3 look cool.
But e.g. Fable is not my cup of tea. Reid a predecessor. Not my kind of humor. And if I must play with a bland regular looking character... With emphasis on must, then no thanks - next. Besides I have some great RPGs on my bucket list so I am glad I can skip one.
Homeworld 3 - interesting, but for me too expensive at current pricing. Maybe in a sale after I had enough of HW1 and 2 remastered.
Skull & Bones, a "AAAA" game? What's next then? "AAAAA"? Sounds more like "AAARGH!" to me. 😅 Well, I first finish AC:Black Flag and if I still want more pirate action... We'll see.
I'm not sure what it says about mankind that almost all of these are violence-based 😢
Honestly I still wish that we´ll get a real new Star Wars RPG at some point (not a MMPORG!!!).
I think it's funny you mention Civ7, but not GTA6.
GTA6 is confirmed for next year, not 2024.
@@GamerZakh Ahh, I thought it was still unannounced. My mistake. x_x
@@PhotriusPyrelus No worries, it's my job to know these things. GTA6 is one of those games where it's best to forget about it until release haha
how was fable a serious rpg ?
See when I said Fable was 'jokey and parody-esque', Fable fans got mad at me and said Fable was serious. Now I say it's more serious, and Fable fans say it's jokey and parody. Did Fable fans play different games?
Just look at the backlash to the new trailer. So many people complaining about how it's 'not serious' and they don't get that it's actually making jokes throughout.
fallout london 🎉a game sized mod been in the making for 4 years .release ST Andrews day or is it George 😅 june anyway
Cool vid but could've been 10mins
It could. I could make it 60 seconds or I could make it 3 hours. It could be any length. If you're rushing, just read the description.
What a silly comment. It was detailed with good knowledge based from experience. 10 mins would of been too short to go into detail of all the games that got done
@@jonsnell8959 the detail was boring
@GamerZakh not rushing. Just got talkative and boring
@@sea-of-skies_ If you get bored you can just stop watching. Many others found it interesting, so I'm not gonna change just for you.
Dont think Fable will release this year.
stormgate looks like sc1 graphics there is no way they spent 40 million on that! if they did then it was to buy all new computers buildings and everything else so they can make it a tax write off.
Well it doesn't look like sc1 at all, but that's generally how much games cost. Look at ZeroSpace gameplay, it looks worse visually. Anything that looks better generally costed more than that, outside a few exceptions. Sc2 costed $100 Million.
And you should look up how taxes work. A tax write off doesn't meant you just get things for free. Let's say you can claim something as a business expense, you just don't pay tax on that amount. If you earned $1000 and you buy a work PC for $1000, you still pay $1000 for the PC. You just don't have to pay income tax on that $1000. If at any point they sell that PC, they have to pay tax on whatever money they get back. Plus, almost all of that 40 million was from investors. You don't think they're watching their investments? Of course they are.
Why didnt you mention STALKER 2?
I didn't mention a lot of games, top 10 doesn't leave room for much. To help explain, which game should I not have mentioned to make room for it?
@@GamerZakh That's ok. This is your list. Thank you :)
Soooo..... No like a dragon infinite wealth?
Although that is a success, it's not really on the scale of massive mainstream hit. It peaked at about 46K players on Steam which is really really good but for reference Palworld has *dropped* to 58K players on Steam. Palworld is here because at one point it was over 2.1 Million concurrent players, making it the 2nd highest peak on Steam ever. It's not only one of the biggest games of 2024, it's one of the biggest games of all time.
Wow No Hellblade 2????
Well I asked you to write your top 10 predictions haha, Edit: Basically this is a top 10, very limited spots, so the question is which game would you kick out to make room? For Hellblade 2 it boils down to whether it'll be bigger that Outlaws or not. I figure Star Wars has more mainstream appeal, so will be bigger. I expect the other 9 to be bigger than Hellblade 2 in any case.
i`m wait for STALKER 2. But it`s ok ) Becouse i`m from Ukraine.
I can't see hoe FF7 Rebirth won't be my favourite.
Also its odd that people still call it a remake.
Meh, least we had a good 2023.
When I did upcoming lists for 2023, people said "Meh at least we had a good 2022" lol. People always think the past was better.
@@GamerZakh I mean as far as gaming years goes 2023 had some pretty good launches. I'm sure a lot of the games on the list will be successful, they just don't appeal to me personally, whether that be because of their art style or the genre of game.
@@justinmartin845 I get what you mean but every year looks great in hindsight. And every year looks terrible in foresight. People actually say now "games were so good 10 years ago! They suck now". When literally 10 years ago I was making these lists and people said in 2014 "games were so good 10 years ago! They suck now". What kind of games do you like? Keep in mind these are just the 'biggest'. I have listed hundreds of games for 2024 so far. I can point you to what you love if I know what you love.
Fable is nowhere near out this year lmao
Everyone has their guesses. People said the same about Dragon's Dogma 2 and Black Myth Wukong. Then right at the end of 2023 both got release dates, one just a couple months later.
Coming soon to PS5 .
Redfall and Starfield.
Thanks Xbox??
🤢
Haha well Xbox will probably allow more of their exclusives onto PS5 eventually after those too. Meanwhile Sony just had their biggest Steam launch on PC. I think the big companies are tired of the platform/console wars and are just wanting to release everywhere. Even many exclusives are turning out to be just timed exclusives.
Fable made the main charachter ugly to avert the "male gaze". For sure I will avert my male gaze. I wouldn't play the game if you paid me $70 to play it.
That's not their intention at all but sure.
underwhelming year
People say that every year but eventually people end up reminiscing about how amazing the year was. 10 years ago people said "underwhelming". Today they say "10 years ago was great".
I found the lack of Dragon Dogma 2 distrubing.
I mention it in the video, I just don't think it's going to be in the top 10 biggest games of the year.
That Star Wars game looks pretty bad :(
What about it do you find bad?
News: GamerZakh didnt play the original Fable series? It was a mix of dry humor, silly, slapstick and horrible jokes everywhere from the narrative to kicking chicken and being call chicken chaser. It had serious subject matter, but the presentation and style was all comedy. I know your background isn't art so this was just an attempt at a narrative control when discussing the model? You don't have to make the actress model look very dissimilar to the actual model to give the appearance of silly or goofy. But that's exactly what you stated, and that is what the trailer portrays. You could get reference from a artist to see where they altered the mesh or final designs from character to model. Its not accurate at all and stands out so I wonder why get a mocap actress at all. I don't blame anyone for a accurate criticism, but I do find you comments interesting consider the 20 year old franchise.
I know the original Fable games, but it seems the Fable community thinks the new one is way too far when it comes to its humour and 4th wall breaking. Fable 3 particularly seems to lean more serious, so Fable fans are the ones saying it was a more serious series.
My background is art, though. I'm commenting on what Fable is trying to do, similar to the reveal of Fiona in Ogre form in Shrek. I didn't say whether it's a good approach or not, or the validity of it in either way, just that's what they're doing.
Fable is full of ESG and DEI insertion, which means the story ALWAYS suffers in lieu of giving lectures from the elitist narcissists, no from me. Avowed is what I am looking forward towards. The Outer Worlds was decent but I do not recall much from it, Obsidian needs to step it up with Avowed or they will no longer be known as the New Vegas creators.
Stormgate just doesn't look good, it looks like a wc3 frozen throne mod from that time.
frostpunk 2 needs to be strategy not sim. only scumbags buy games on steam. stormgate looks like starcraft for babies. starcraft style is dated by 20 years.
meh, they made them look younger 21:09... lame..degeneration.
I'm probably weird but.. I don't think the protagonist in Fable looks "objectively unattractive" at all.. She's still quite pretty..
Well I didn't say 'objectively' haha, it's just I'm in this weird position where if I don't talk about all those complaints, I get constant complaints about it. Now I pre-emptively address those complaints and normal people who weren't mad at a video game trailer are confused why I'm talking about any of that. It's like when I say Fable was a more serious RPG in the past, now people are saying it's always been slapstick and jokey. But when I said Fable has always been jokey, people came for me saying it's actually a serious series. I think Fable fans played very different games lol
@@GamerZakh Haha no, apologies, I know you didn't say objectively. That's just what I got from you mentioning the negative opinion, that people just all think she doesn't look good or something. I guess that in the end it's hard to please everyone, both with a Fabled game and with an insightful list like the ones you make, yet you do a very good job, in my opinion, making points for all sides :)
Yes you are weird but so is everybody else.
@@GamerbyDesign But if everyone is weird.. that makes weird normal.. meaning nobody is weird....
