This is a superb rendition of Mozart’s great c minor piano sonata - the tempo is not rushed. The autograph is marked “allegro” - not “allegro molto” as in the printed editions. I think Sokolov followed the autograph. Good choice! It’s more beautiful and moving this way - never rushed, never out of breath. It’s a nuanced and varied performance. A real gem! The second movement is exquisite.
My heart stops at the middle part of the second movement 💞 People say K475 is leaning to Beethoven but this performance made me realise K 457 bridges between great Beethoven.
Wow!!!! We desperately need more pianists that take Mozart seriously like this one!!!! He makes this sonata looks like Apassionata!!!! All pianists play Mozart as if they are in a circus playing for joke...
Totally agree. Never understand why many well known pianists play Mozart so fast that we miss all the deep, sublime, and even sometimes aching meanings between notes.
Wonderfull as Sokolov´s playing is, I feel his rendering is a little too premeditated. At the same time there are a few chords sounding hesitant and the" flow" present in the best interpretatations of Mozart I have heard is missing. I would like to recommend Hans Leygraf´s Mozart for comparison. He is a lesser pianist but with a more relaxed attitude to Mozart. Only the last movement here cast a new light on the music and gives the conclusion of this wonderfull sonata the weight it deserves.
@@AnaGarcia-ri2jt "Attractiveness is exaggerated in Mozart, so let's play it completely dry!" Have you ever read Mozart's letters? Mozart's music is not always sweet, but it is also about dramatic emotion. Mozart is balance, the fact that some interpretations exaggerate some elements in Mozart does not change the fact that this interpretation is too clumsy and dry.

Meditative intensity. K457 like none before. Sokolov does it again.
A COMPLETELY unique interpretation of this sonata. Magnificent!

BRAVO!!!
extraordinary
Sokolov does not take Mozart lightly. His rendition is so deep and intense that it resembles Beethoven in every note.
Gratuliere !
Bravo
oh! wonderful!
Imprescindible en mi Museo
Heavy-duty, but fascinating

Wann Sokolov auf ein Klavier spielt ' it seems a special sort of ' ?
who hate this? :(
justin bieber and selena gomez fans, perhaps
sie irren sich
Mozart without charm
The "charm" is so often overdone in Mozart. And ruined. That is just my opinion :) "Charm" is not one of Mozart's main ingredients.
