As a Californian, I felt love riding this ride when it was soarin over Cali. It was just this weird sense of happiness and pride that struck me knowing I lived in such a diverse state. I mean common, that golf ball! Jeez, that golf ball always made me duck my head even though I knew it was fake!
Now when I ride this, I feel like I just watched a 4K Sony/Samsung UA-cam advertisement.
I miss Soarin' over California. But that new beautiful Disneyland ending is better, at least they kept it.

I miss the old one, especially because I am from California and have been all over the state, it was just amazing to “fly” over somewhere so familiar, and the best part was the scent that came from the oranges, now I feel like it is mostly touristy locations.
Interesting tidbit - the "orange" scene is near Camarillo, CA. In Ventura County, almost all of the citrus, including those fields, are lemons. Lemons like colder night temperatures such as in Ventura County. Orange County, further south and a bit warmer, was the better climate for oranges, before it became all developed.
When you're broke AF, so you go to California Adventure to travel the world.
You think that's bad? I am too poor to go to DCA that I have to watch the videos on UA-cam.

Unfortunately since the 60th started last May there hasn't been a lull in the crowd, always always fairly busy now.

Smelling the fresh cut grass soaring over the elephants is just amazing
and flying over Fiji you can smell the ocean. I do think the use other ones though. On my second time riding it I could swear I could smell flowers over the Taj Mahal

The thing barely fucking moves, there's no drops and the only direction it can move is banking to the left or right slightly.
The tsk mahal legit smelled like a bunch of roses, and for Fiji I smelled the ocean but also gardenias😂, and the elephant one ugh the grass and dirt was awesome.
The island smelled so good! As if I was actually there!😍

Personally, I think this "Around the world" theme fits better at Epcot in Florida with the world showcase theme.
Disney California should have kept the "Over California" theme since this whole park is themed California.
Honestly, building a theme park *about* California *in* California was a stupid mistake. They should have just built WESTCOT instead...

@@auggiewhitman7358 Yeah sure ok, let's go drive to Anza Borrego, Yosemite, Redwood Creek, Lake Tahoe, Monterey, San Fran, San Diego, Napa Valley (what's left of it) Central Valley, Camarillo, LA, Disney, and Palm Springs all in 5 minutes.
Fucking dumbass, if you think the new Soarin is better, go to Florida, I hear they like morons there! The whole point of the old Soarin was to see the beauty of CA without having to drive well over 2000 miles to visit every one of these places (San Diego and SF are almost 700 miles apart, add in everything else and you're probably looking at closer to 3000 miles actually.) The new soarin sucks, plain and simple, but then again, everything in Disney sucks, especially when they can't stop screwing with perfectly good rides!
I left Disney the day this opened and I rode the old one for the last time and I was crying and laughing the whole time. It was the best I've felt in a long time

I see the issue with this. Soarin Over California was an amazing ride because it reminds us of how diverse California is. All the landmarks, different biomes, etc. With this ride, it's kinda redundant cos we already know how diverse the world is. ://

The thing is tourists don't really care about how diverse California is. I'm from Spain, I've studied in Riverside (CA) and worked in WDW, and I was way more excited about Soarin around the world than about Soarin about California.
quesadillo i never got to experience soaring over california, but i wish i could have because i find california itself to have more diversity than all the landmarks shown in soaring around the world. i agree with you.

Not too many times where the sequel is better than the first this absolutely is one of them times. So grateful for the video my wife is afraid of heights and this is the only time she'll get to experience it . been blessed and lucky enough to go down to Disney and Epcot many many times this is one of my favorites I would highly suggest anybody going down there for the first or second time to put this at the top of their list. Thank you again!

Very nice video and I love the new Soarin. The original will always be great, but we had it for 15 years or so. No attraction at Disneyland is meant to be unchanging and they've done a great job with this update. Sure, it's a CGI fest and we know it. But it's gorgeous footage and at least it's nice looking CGI. I love that they kept sampling from the original soundtrack as I think it's one of the most recognizable pieces still in the park. If you miss it in it's original form then you can at least still hear it played out in the esplanade between both parks. Still makes me happy when I hear it there.
Honestly, it's the music that makes it feel flat :/ It just doesn't strike your emotions the way the original score did. I know a lot of people hate the CGI too, but if the music was still as powerful as the original, it'd still give you goosebumps enough to not focus too much on the CGI.
I haven't rode it yet, but just from this video and from other peoples opinions, the original was better. Not that this one is "bad", it's still a fun ride, just not _as_ good.
True, no one beats the music of Jerry Goldsmith. Sadly, he passed away in 2004, so they brought in Bruce Broughton. I think he did an admirable job.

I like how every place has a different scent! Like how 1:45 smells like grass, and how 3:25 smells like Aqua!
I once experienced a smaller version of "Soarin' Around The World" at Playland in Rye, NY with my first boyfriend in the 1970's. Standing in a tent that had the film projected onto screens 360 degrees around us, we flew" over the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley. It was a smaller version of what was shown in this video. I absolutely love the idea of virtual flying like an eagle! Wish I could be there.

I didnt go on the original California Soarin so i cant compare but Soarin Around the World is an exhilarating experience.
Im going back in a week and im definitely doing it again.

Amazing capture - however I prefer the original Soarin', especially the soundtrack. I really hope they find a way to show both, whether it be a version for each screen, or different times of the day or something... the original is just too good to retire.

I hope Soarin' over California makes a comeback during the holiday season. After all, the ending to the original Soarin' was Disneyland during Christmas.

I feel really bad for the people who are watching this and thinking they butchered the original... This is probably the first ride that I've ever NOT watched a video of before riding it for the first time, and I was really glad I didn't. I was thoroughly impressed. I rode it the 2nd weekend it was open, and in my opinion, a video can in NO WAY do this ride justice. The movements of the ride vehicles are better, and do a much better job of making you feel like you're really there. It's definitely more exciting than Over California was in that aspect. The music also is not as good on video. It's looks boring on here because you're not feeling any of the ride movements. Also, the video quality in general is infinitely better than the original. I know that's a given, but all the extra visual polish really goes a long way. So to anyone who hasn't ridden it yet, PLEASE reserve judgement until you do. It's fantastic.

Personally, the new soundtrack arrangement really doesn't really hold up to Over California's. There was something about the original track with the original film that just went together perfectly: what's here really doesn't seem to add up together as well.
Whenever I ride this ride, I always think that the mountains are gonna smack off my shoes, I'm like, "NOO, MY SHOES!" And nothing happens.

I've never been on the soarin California one before but this one was amazing to me. The smells were so beautiful ,my friends loved it too and were bawling their eyes out at all the different areas and cultures visited. I obviously can't compare soarin California with this but I would wait in line to go through this again😭♥️

I used to love this ride as a kid I've only gone twice when I was like 3 and 5 but wow I remeber this ride super well it was always my favorite from what I remeber I'm going this Saturday and I'm soo exited to ride this one again!

jeez some of these die hard Disney fans are so overly critical. Too whoever it was that said Walt would not approve of all these changes, it actually WAS in Walt's plan for Disney World/Land to be a place that is always growing, changing, improving. In my opinion, thats what makes Disney so great and unique! Not everything has to stay exactly.the.same.forever! I mean thats a little unrealistic. I wish more people appreciated that fact :/

I've never ridden the original but I absolutely adored this version. Too bad my cleithrophobia won't allow me to ride it again. I tried to go on it a second time on a later trip to Disneyland and was actually really excited but for some reason as soon as he mentioned a fear of heights I started panicking about being trapped on the ride and couldn't force myself to stay so I left through the exit. I felt horrible because my friend had to ride it by herself after waiting 45 minutes to get on.
I was super scared about how this was going to turn out. after watching this all i can say is BEAUTIFUL! Now living where i do, i only got to go on soarin' over cali only 2 times. But im literally excited to ride this when i next go to DCA. The music is different, which scared me at first (I LOVE SOARIN OVER CALI'S MORE) but this was just downright awesome in a musical aspect. I do have to say that some of the destination choices made alot of sense for Disney, The Real matterhorn in Zermatt, Switzerland (since most people think the bobsleds arent based off of anything.) and that castle in germany (which sleeping beauty's is based off of). And of course that GORGEOUS ending with disneyland (which was always my fav in the original) SOOOOOO beautiful, and im glad its not disneyland from the 90's at christmas time XD. Overall im excited to see it in person someday!

I cried when they take you back to Disneyland. It's like coming back home to your comfortable bed after traveling the world.
Too many things flying right at the camera. One or two would have been cool but I was rolling my eyes long before the last one. The Disneyland ending made me cry though!

I think that for California Adventure’s 20th anniversary they should bring Over California back for one of the theaters. The other would keep Around the World, thus everyone will be happy. And also I think it would be cool that for the 4th of July every year, they do a seasonal version that flies across America called Soarin’ Across America and it would use most of the Over California soundtrack along with parts of Around the World’s soundtrack.
Just got back this week! Can't wait to go on this ride again.

I think the biggest issue with the soundtrack is that it follows the video as opposed to the video following the soundtrack. The scene transitions were based on the music, rather than the other way around. When the music is constantly changing to accommodate the video, it kinda ruins the flow.
I miss the orange scent and the golf ball. New Disneyland flyover is really really good tho 👍🏻👍🏻

You must have never done Soarin' Over California. This version of the ride gets worse every time I ride it while Soarin' Over California was a ride I wasn't a big fan of when I was 7 years old but when it when away 10 years later for this pile of shit, I was so depressed.

I just love this ride so relaxing and peaceful and smooth it's one of my 4th favorite ride there I can go on it over and over all day long I just love the music too so pretty.
Watching this makes me emotional, reminds me that although we have our differences we all share one beautiful planet.
This attraction uses a lot of CGI...too much for my taste, but people aren't satisfied with just a view of world monuments, they need kinetic movement in the scenery like cgi kites, jumping killer whales, and such. I do like the finale though, you could tell they shot the scene at dusk instead of midnight, and they were able to cgi away views of the city of Anaheim. I still like this version, and I'll visit it frequently. Thanks for posting the video!
Shame they didn't film it during the Christmas Parade like the last film...
Well I kinda like that they didn't. I hated riding the attraction in the middle of summer and seeing it end with the Christmas Parade, I mean you only see the parade 3 months out of the year and for the rest of the year you're wondering why they didn't just film several finale's depending on the season of the year. I like that it ends with the park in-between seasons because then it doesn't open that can of worms that drives me bonkers.

I have to say soaring around the world is probably one of my favorite rides in California Adventure not going to lie

They should of made soarin' Around America, a lot of great landmarks in this Country to see and wild life. It would give a proud feeling to the Americans and give a sense of taste to the foreigners that visit here just how great this Country is.
