From what I understand at this point Toshi (lead singer) already announced he was leaving band which caused the band to breakup. He joined a cult. He didn't want to do this concert because he thought the fans hated him and wanted to attack him for breaking up the band. Hide (lead guitarist in green outfit) had to talk him into doing it. Hide died a few months after this concert. When I saw this for the first time and saw Toshi singing next to each member to me it was like he was saying goodbye to each one. Band members looked so sad throughout this whole video. The fans knew it was almost over and kept singing the chorus over and over maybe just to keep it going as long as they could.
Thats what i was talking about.... The sound that touches the soul!!!!! The end of an era!!! Sill makes me cry! This was the last show before X ended and the amount amount of tragic events that came after! Hide original guitarrist and one of the most iconic members and Japanese icon commited suicide. The band reunited ten years later with a new project but Taiji original bassist also commited suicide! From the original formation now we still have Yoshiki Drums/Piano, Toshi on Vocals, Pata on guitars, Heath 2nd Bassist also the same on this show and to complete the cast we have Sugizo, ex Luna Sea, iconic musician as lead guitar. The chorus that wished to last forever because they knew that was the end!!!!!!
@@FrankValchiria Yes indeed Mr Valchiria, whole X-Japan history is very deep, there's a movie/documentary called We Are X released some time ago, i think you can find it here in YT if you're interested.
Luna Sea is still going. Honestly, I'm willing to trade X's and Luna Sea's future for the chance of S.K.I.N getting back together. Hide's suicide seems to have been an accident.
The guitar player Hide died after the year from this concert, and then the guitar player Sugizo from Luna Sea change his hair's color to pink, because Hide is his good friend and good "older brother". Finally he joined the band at 2009 to support Hide guitar's position but not replace him.
Thanks for your videos. The concert is from 1997 "the Last live" (55,000 fans in the Tokyo Dome). Hide (the guy in the neon yellow outfit) died 5 months later. I recommend the documentation "We are X". "Kurenai" is also a legendary song. there is also a version from "the Last live" or a newer version with the violin intro (played by Sugizo from Luna Sea)
Next song by them to react can only be one: "Art of life". Actually, it is much more than a song, it's a life changing experience. A 30 minute piece composed by Yoshiki (the drummer/pianist) during his recovery process from a mental collapse he had due to overwork, stress and pressure. All the steps of his rehabilitation are deeply entangled in the song, from calmness and routine to complete madness and disturbance. "Such a long song, including so many different music styles, that’s not commonplace. Then what? A symphony? A jazz piece? A classical composition? Most likely a mix of the three. Inspired by Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony, Art of Life is a piece unique of its kind, a work I would like to call a symphonic poem with neo-romantic notes. Even though it’s a complex work, because of its length and particularities, Art of Life is definitely the song that made X Japan go down in history, and allowed Yoshiki to reach the kind of universality he thrived for."
Hello and greetings from Germany! I got to follow your channel ever since "Maneskin" won the ESC. The evening that happened I only saw the short clips of the performances, but their song got stuck in my head and I'm very looking forward to what they're capable of! 🤘🇮🇹🤘 Since I really love X Japan and your reaction to them, this will get a bit long, but I want to fill you and your viewers a little in on the band's history. X Japan I got to know last year through the fans of BABYMETAL, who pointed out some similarities between the two groups and I loved every second of it! Of course I also watched "We are X" which is a documentary about X Japan and their tragic but also really awesome history and the leader/pianist/drummer made me purchase a keyboard after a long time and made me finally enjoy and appreciate music for what it is once again and ever since I have been always cheerful when reacting to music, even if I didn't think it was for me. Also the singer joined a cult which led to the breakup of the band. The guitarist with the bright neon outfit died shortly after this performance in May 1998. His burial was the last time in 10 years that the band would come together. The official cause for Hide's death was suicide but it was questioned, whether he was doing an exercise to relax his neck using a towel wrapped around a doorknob and stretching his neck, because he and the other guitarist and bassist did similar exercises to relax or if it was real suicide. Of course it could just be the band trying to prevent other people from committing suicide, because there were some copy cats unfortunately. Also the guitarist was a heavy drinker and they thought that he may fell asleep during said exercise. Whatever it is, at least they thought about their and also their guitarist's fans when announcing that. After this concert a little over 10 years passed when they finally came back together with the help of Sugizo from Luna Sea, the new guitarist for Hide. The singer ToshI was still in a cult, which he also wrote a book about, but that would take even longer to explain. In 2009 ToshI finally separated from the cult and was all in with X Japan and solo projects as well. He stated that it was the friendship to Yoshiki the drummer/pianist and founder of X Japan which helped him to get out of the cult and after all those years made him cry because of a song he wrote and that they performed together named "Without You", a tribute to their deceased guitarist Hide. Also there are of course more songs from them that I can only recommend to you. For more rock songs there are:"X", "I'll kill you", "Rusty Nail", "Born to be free" etc. For the more ballad sound, I can recommend:"La Venus" (one of my personal favorites), "Crucify My Love", "Forever Love", "Unfinished", "The Last Song" etc. There is also a video from the end of this concert you were watching in this video. I'll send a link to it in another response. Have a very nice day and WE ARE?!
Well most of their songs have a tragic or a point of struggle more than a romantic point This song and the main reason the fans serenaded YOSHIKI THE DROMER AND PIANO He wrote this long time ago And it is about the DETH of his father He committed suicide wen he was very young kid Just a very tragic moment that he had to learn to deal with Just saying
This is their last concert in 1997 with their original lead guitarist.. You should do reaction to kurenai last live concert... The greatest version.. Or their masterpiece song. The Art Of Life 1993.. 30 minutes long! Superb! Grande!
Yeah, Hide continued to be the one who wanted to stand out, even after the rest of the band dropped the high glam/visual kei appearance. And it's mind boggling how big these guys were in Japan, while the rest of the world mostly never heard of them. Scenes from Hide's funeral looked like Elvis' funeral. The complete footage of this show after the song ends, they play a montage of the band's history on the screens along with another ballad, and when the lights come on, people are breaking down criyng everywhere.
Bella Frank!
You might wanna check out their non-ballad songs, these are also powerful but in a different sense. I'd recommend Kurenai (preferably from the same Last Live), Rusty Nail or Rose of Pain As for other Japanese artists, have you heard of Miyavi? His guitar skills are amazing :)
